4/6/11 - Sox vs. Royals - 1:10 (CSN)

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) Disagree...we have the real Gordon Beckham instead of soph slump Beckham. Also, Dunn's had better at bats in a week than Kotsay had all of last year. I'm all for being a pessimist, but this is insane right now. The hitting is better as a whole but it is not consistent from game to game. In 5 games Justin Masterson and Jeff Francis have shut the Sox down. That does not bode well in the long run. Well this game is now out of hand. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Those innings wouldn't have been an issue had the bullpen done its job. Last night's game should have never went into extras. I don't think it's fair to blame the offense for scoring 6 runs. but that did happen and just like last year once the bullpen blows a lead the game is over as the bats can not hit the other teams bullpen. Other than the first guy out of the pen in the opener, the other teams bullpens have seemingly shut the Sox down. My issue right now is that nothing has changed from last year except the payroll as far as an approach to the game. The starters and hitting are inconsistent from inning to inning, the bullpen is a crapshoot and the baseball IQ / fundamentals are extremely low. The Twins are losing to good teams and the Sox are losing to crap teams. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) I honestly don't know how you can complain about a team scoring 6 runs. That's not bad at all. The six runs are not the issue it was getting shut down late in the game like the 8 pitch 10th or 11th that is leaving a bad taste with me and now the K with 1st and 3rd and nobody out. These are the games you need to make up ground that the Sox do not and then wonder why they can not catch the Twins. -

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 01:44 PM) LOL we scored 6 runs yesterday. If the offense has to score 6+ runs everyday we're not going to win much this year. but have now not scored in the lst nine innings. 6 runs against Luke Hochaver is not all that impressive. -

Another steller performance from the squad. The out of the gate quickness lasted two days. Francis will go seven and give up two runs on four hits. -

That was an impressive inning. How long will the bunt into the triple play hangover last. Can one stupid managerial decision in the third game of the season change the complexion of a team's season? They are not taking the up the middle approach that they had against Carmona any longer. -

The fundamentals of this team are non-existant....why should that be a shocker. -
Adam Dunn had emergency appendectomy last night.

The things that we have seen thus far this year was what cost them last year. Poor Fundamentals Being shut down by bullpens Questionable bullpen work. -

Well when the Twins are winning the division in September we can all say the meaningless loses to s*** teams in April are just ordinary games. -

The fundamentals of this team never change. There really no point to Lillibridge as he has no defensive ability and just f***ing up his only trait. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 07:30 AM) Yup, first time the "official" attendance was under 27k since 2002. Probably half that many people actually there. I don't know if those were ticket holders not showing up or tickets that the Cubs and their brokers purchased and were unable to sell to anyone. Ticket brokers own a ton of season tickets and are the holders of most of the empty seats.

Not a great feeling about the KC series...

With how good the Royal farm system is, if I were a fan of theirs I would want to blow this season to get another high pick for when these guys come up next year. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) It's a 1 run game though. A "Closer" could still easily wind up useful. If you're going to designate a "Closer", you may as well be stubborn about it. It is a 3 run game -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) Thornton is in the closer's spot now. Sure and Tuesday it will be a week since he last pitched. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) That triple play changed the whole momentum of this game. Yes a team that has scored 23 runs in two days needs to be bunting in the 4th inning to get the bat into Omar Vizquel and Juan Pierre's hands to drive in the runs over Alexi. That is assine thinking every time. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 02:03 PM) If we're ripping D1, seriously look at the actual numbers. 6 IP, 6 h, 2 ER, 1 BB, 8 K's. If Roy Halladay put up that line, you wouldn't be sitting there saying "He's not an ace!". Not calling him an ace is not ripping him. Starters need to give you more than 6 innings. Masterson cooled down a hot hitting team today. Nobody his confusing him with Roy Halladay. Wow have these bats gone south. -

QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) What about Danks makes you say that? Is it just the amount of money committed? Because he is a six inning pitcher. Today is the prime example of why he is not an ace. He is a really good pitcher but not worth a contract of that magnitude. -

He is a f***ing LOOGY that is it. Guillen is trying to make him something he is not. This is Randy Williams all over again. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) Why are we bringing in our worst reliever in a one run game? Sale pitched twice already and we need the L/R match-up at cost no matter hoiw s***ty the left handed thrower is. Where are Santos and Crain......hanarahn and Marson...you gotta be f***ing kidding me. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) Ohman sigh.....Will Ohman He is a loogy and can not give you a full inning if there are three lefties hitting. I see no difference with him and Randy Williams. -

Masterson at a whole 92 pitches with 2 outs in the 7th. This game is looking like last year without the Sunday lineup. -

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 01:39 PM) Because all the rain means is that Danks doesn't get to go deep into the game. They are going to get the entire game in today no matter what. THe rain will just mean an hour or two delay. This is his last inning anyway and no guarantee he has the lead when the rain comes.
