  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) What is shows is if you go to Ozzie with a personal situation he likes to discuss it over dinner with the rest of his family. If, for some reason, you want to jab Ozzie in the future, and by no means do I think what Jenks did was right, then you will be subject to Oney airing out all of your personal laundry. It really isn't good. How do you know that Guillen told Oney this? Oney and Jenks like to party. In 2005 at the video unveiling Oney was there with Jenks and Cotts. I find it more plausible that Jenks and Oney were drinking buddies moreso than Guillen sitting around airing the clubhouse news over dinner.
  2. The White Sox do not have 5 starters right now. No way they get rid of one.
  3. Have the White Sox lost out on a player they wanted to retain via free agency? Too me this is another in the line of Thomas, Swisher, Cabrerra, and Ordonez who were "allowed" to leave and then b****ed an moaned. After all of the soap operas in the Guillen tenure, they retain the free agents and get the players they want. It has scared off certain players but I think they are going with the media POV. If players that the Sox wanted back did not come back, then I think this would have been an issue. Konerko has been here plenty long, maybe a condition of his was that Jenks not come back....
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) Yeah, but Ozzie isnt the one taking the shots here, Oney is. Which looks like Ozzie is coming home and blabbing about his players issues, and in turn those family members are airing out the dirty laundry in a misguided attempt at defending Ozzie. All this does is make Ozzie look like a big mouth who cannot be trusted with any private issues, and it is even worse because Oney originally started this crusade last season. You do not know that Ozzie told these things to Oney. It is just as likely that Oney and Jenks partied together. For everyone that thinks Guillen will lose credabiltiy on this, I really do not think that managers and players are really that intimate in one anothers personal lives.
  5. Anyone that thinks the Bears need to play their starters because they owe it to the Giants needs to have their head examined. The Giants could not help themselves last week against...........Green Bay. Tampa Bay on the other hand will lose at noon to the Saints and then it is not an issue. If the Giants beat Green Bay just last week, this isn't like week 4 or something like that, they would not need the Bears help. Sit Forte, Urlacher, Briggs, Peppers and Hester (on returns). Play max protect and blitz and throw in everything you can on defense to create an illusion that you have a better scheme than the Cover 2, and call it a day.
  6. QUOTE (quickman @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 09:16 AM) Oney behaving like this, sends a signal to the rest of the whitesox. Can't go to ozzie with your problems or when Oney is around you need to shut up, because Ozzie and his idiot sons can't keep there mouths shut. They will need to find someone else to talk to, which is ashame. A player should be able to go to his manager, as a leader, mentor and coach and share an issue that maybe affecting there play. That said, I am sure Bobby is not out of his problems and these will re-surfice once again fortunately not for the whitesox. I would guess that Oney talked with Jenks over drinks more than Jenks spoke to Ozzie. I really do not think that Ozzie comes home and talks to his family about Jenks personal life. Oney probably knew as much about the innerworkings of that team than Ozzie did while Oney was there.
  7. Oney needs to shut up but he was part of the locker room prior to last season so he would have seen first hand everything that happened in there. This is another case of a player leaving the Sox and being ticked off because they have to go somewhere else. If playing for Guillen was so bad, why do all of the players that they want back keep coming back? Thome wanted to be back, Konerko, AJ, Mark, somehow Rios turned into a respectable player, Dye, there are plenty of guys that leave and then bash the organization because they were cut loose. I almost find it comical. Guillen stood by that fatass.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 10:04 AM) It was funny listening to Phil Simms talk about how the Bears haven't seen a pass rush like the Jets (hello Giants game), and then seeing the Bears line just man-handle the Jets D. I seriously do not think Phil Simms watches the game. He called a Sanchez pass that was ovthrown a perfect pass than he says Holmes slows up on a route when the ball was behind him. He is a disaster.
  9. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 11:10 PM) I reconciled this a couple of weeks ago. once they took away the asininity of him getting rid of people in favor of "his" guys and got real NFL assistants they started winning again. As long as this staff stays in tact and Lovie is not allowed to evaluate and pick talent, they will be fine. The officiating in that game was embarassingly bad. The hold on Olin, the DPI, the shot to Cutler's head and the screwed call at the half were in excusable. I hope they beat the s*** out of the Jets but I have a feeling it will be a let down. I am a fan of Maranelli.
  10. The Vikings PBP guy and morning guy on KFAN in Minny loved the moved for the Sox and thinks Crain will be the closer.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 05:09 PM) Supposedly the Yankees were prepaired to offer Wood $10 million over 2 years. The coverage on the radio yesterday was priceless. Jurko was trashing him pretty good as it being a riding off into the sunset and becoming an ambassador for the rest of his life. He is the new Ron Santo in my book.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 08:55 AM) Danks is almost in the same position as Greinke (two years left on deal), except he might be an even better fit in NY because of Pettite (if he stays) and Sabathia, but that would give them an overload of lefties, perhaps. Of course, for the White Sox to trade Danks and not get pitching back would be crazy. I think it would take a lot more than Danks and Viciedo...and Morel simply isn't viewed as a legit starting 3B who will have a 10-15 year MLB career (with 2-3 All-Star game appearances) by the majority of other MLB scouting departments. He's kind of like the equivalent of Michael Morse in the Garcia deal, with a bit more upside because of his stellar defense at one position but serious questions about his power. My point was the White Sox should try and use Danks to get the prospects to add to their own to get Greinke. There is no way they should move Danks.....unless they are getting guaranteed MLB pitching back like Greinke. The Yanks are really not in a position to be thinking L/R options right now.
  13. Brewers, White Sox and Cardinals should all be in on this. The White Sox should move Danks to the Yanks for the prospects the Royals would like and then add Viciedo or Morel. A three way deal gets you around the NTC to a degree.
  14. I love the attitude but I am in the camp that the White Sox think he is not going to pitch and the insurance money is paying for these new guys. Getting healthy and throwing and being a big league pitcher are vastly different. I hope I am wrong as if they get 30 starts out of him they win the division and are as good as anyone in MLB.
  15. Bard has a better chance of closing than Jenks at this point. Getting Papelbon would be good as he will be a Type A and the Red Sox be looking to dump the salary. I am not sure the Sox have the prospect(s) to give up.
  16. How did it originally end with Wood in the past. Didn't the high paying cubs choose to not sign him and thus he went to Cleveland. That was a business decision that he is now passing over in the name of loyalty. Although he wet his pants the last time he pitched at wrigley so maybe he really truly loves everything about that situation. It seems to me he could have gotten a much better deal but he really feels bad for the cubs. Loyalty is one thing but come on, some of it reeks of loser to me as that is the position he is in.
  17. There is a risk with both but I voted Crain as he seems to be headed in the right direction and is locked up longer for the same money. Somehow I think Jenks comes in 40 pounds lighter and is a two pitch pitcher.
  18. It is with great sadness that I request a name change. Jenks has not had Heat in years and now he is no longer a relevant part of my life. Can you please change my screen name to my real name Harry Chappas. Thanks.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 10:59 AM) I was thinking that money was probably allocated to Edwin Jackson's contract. Yes but if Peavy is out next year the money that comes in can be used on the higher payroll.
  20. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) And the relievers who consistently pitch multiple innings are typically pretty bad. Goose Gossage used to go 3 all of the time
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) That is a pretty big change of heart in a very short period of time. $$$$ talks and I assume with Christmas coming, all stuff will be shut down for a couple of weeks. To not play for the Sox because of his love for the cubs just solidifes the loser cub mentality associated with guys that bleed cubbie blue. Remember Dunn wanted to play there a few weeks ago. Do you want to close for the Marlins or close for a team with as good a shot of any of wininng it all.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 09:17 PM) Its performance related. All GMs try. Just to say this is great even if it doesn't work out because KW needs a reliever and Crain was a very good reliever in 2010 is silly. There are a lot of GMs who need relievers that did not offer Crain what KW did. Time will tell who is correct. Duane Schaffer tried real hard drafting guys. They all tried really hard. They didn't perform Duane Schaffer is out of a job. KW didn't can him because he didn't try hard. He canned him because he picked the wrong players. If Crain doesn't perform and cost the Sox 10 times what Lance Broadway cost the Sox, why shouldn't KW's neck be on the line? Because KW has had good success in the past to rely on. Thus his moves are grounded in past success.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 01:01 PM) Why is that the only way? I could certainly see lots of ways that D1 gets moved that don't involve prospects for Greinke. If someone offered you a package involving a talented young SP and another player for him, along with some salary relief, there'd be every reason to grab that deal. If you're 100% convinced that Peavy will be ready on day 1 and you want to start the season with Sale in the rotation, if someone offered you a real good deal for Danks even without a starting pitcher coming back, why not take it? anyone that is even 50% certain Peavy is ready on Day 1 is overly optimistic. Anyone that has faith in Peavy pitching more than 100 innings a season as a certainty moving forward is optimistic. Peavy is a crap shoot that has shown to be injury prone thus you always need a strong 5th and a viable 6th if he is on the roster. With the money the White Sox have invested this offseason, they can not downgrade their rotation and moving Danks for youth and cost relief is foolish. They only have 4 starters now and to move one for a young starter moves Sale to the rotation where he is an unknown and leaves your pen very weak. Spending big money on bullpen arms is a risk as well.
  24. The only way danks is moved is if the prospects help get Grienke.
  25. The NL continues to get much better as that NL East is pretty stacked. I am not sure why the Phils did not go after Crawford instead of Lee. Lee seems like overkill to me. They did not lose because of their pitching last year.
