Sadly neither team really looks to care Quentin and Rios have been abysmal. I think the game one winner wins both tonight and I think the Royals have the upper hand as the Sox can not ouch Humber and the Royals pen gives them fits from time to time. The Twins would be up 7-0 right now waiting on the curve. -

I heard Garcia and Pena......yikes is all I can say they could easily be swept regardless of who pitches for the Royals. Both starters could go less than 3 innings very easily and neither will go more than 6 and we play again in less than 24 hrs -
The Sox are 0-5 in one run games since the beginning of the O's series. Putz has blown 3 games and Thorton 2 granted the Minnesota game was Guillen fault still Roberts and Thome did not get lucky against him. Jenks is the only option and chance this team has right now even with Putz being available.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) I wasn't impressed with any one of Baker/Liriano/Pavano. Other than Baker Liriano and Pavano can go down at any moment with the innings they have logged this year compared to previous years.

Berkman on DL Twins hopefully face Haren and King Felix and then also the Rangers Berkman on the DL and will miss next weekend.......... The Twins rotation looked bad in this series....maybe the innings are catching up to Carl.

This Jenks inning is why Putz should've started the 8th The Sox could really be tied by next Thursday if they get good pitching. I think the Sox will fare well at home against the O's and in KC and the Twins play the Halos and Rangers I believe -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 09:36 PM) He's going to end up hitting .300 as bad as the Kotsay move was the Pierre move makes up for it somewhat All I want are fastball strikes who cares the result -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) I'm sorry, but in the first game, there were two terrible managerial decisions made. Letting Kotsay hit vs a LHP in the 5th, and keeping Thornton in for a 3rd inning. which along with Floyd and Danks cost them the game. -

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 09:28 PM) Can somebody tell me what happened to Putz? guillen made him throw 100 pitches in one inning and then tripped him when he was coming off the firld and kicked his knee when he stood up -

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) The decision to leave him in is absolutly intolerable. The game is over, Oz needed to make a managerial call and pull him. His decisions this season; base running, line-ups, bunt calls, Thome, ETC should cost him if we continue to fall out. It's so frustrating seeing these bonehead moves day-in-day-out. Exactly after they came out they should have pulled him. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) Great...absolutely no reason for him to be pitching tonight, and an injury happens. when did he last pitch? He could hurt any time and need to get an easy inning for his psyche.....not the result we wanted -

Fathom enjoy watching now as kids s*** less but take up more time and Soxtalk is the best way to see how a game goes. Wasn't the 2004 game the jose Panigua flipping off Sox fans game....hitting a guy could lead to this type I think the Sox played very well in the series. The Sox are 0-5 in one run games since the O's series I believe. Jeez Jones with a bad route there.....walked into a HBP -
Why did Cooper not have Thorton learn other pitches and take speed off his fastball. People need to realize some guys thrive under Cooper and some thrive in the NL. Also the Dewayne Wise thing was all Guillen as well. I get the feeling his input will hold no weight going forward.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) Mauer, M-Cab and Ichiro. Those are the three guys you just know are going to kick Sox ass everytime they come to the plate. add Inge and Mike Sweeney to that list as well. They could come out of retirement and go 3-4. The three guys you mentioned are actually good. -

Not watching the game but following through Soxtalk....Cowley was on the SCORE recently and was talking about AJ having to think about this season and the Dye season last year where the Sox will not offer arb and no other team a is going to take a chance on him. I think the Sox oughta really platoon him and Castro this year and see how it goes. It could make AJ better and Castro is no worse than AJ and could be better. AJ knows a steep pay cut is in order and is playing like it. He should be batting ninth. -

Jones is go for a nice 0-4 wiht 2 K's and a couple of groundouts. I think it is safe assume that after this season if Guillen is still around that he will not be afforded any player personnel decisions. He makes Lovie look like Jerry Vanisi. -
Go check Freddy's day/night splits. I believe they are the complete opposite of Jenks. I do not think it has anything to do with partying but more that for whatever reason the hitter picks a pitch up better. No, the manager can not manage to this but he can take it into consideration.

QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 10:47 AM) Do all you can to negate that slider from Liriano that Konerko and Quentin just wave at He is left handed. There will be no lefties in there.

All this teams needs is Jenks to be healthy....will it happen, I don't know but the last fifteen games has shown as that if Jenks is not doing his job the rest of the pen sucks. This team needs Jenks to save 85% of the opportunities he is given which is what he has done this year. I do not give a s*** about WHIP, ERA, BAA, FIP or the rest of the stupid stats that say Jenks blows. The fact is he needs to be the closer or as we have seen there is no chance of winning. Thorton for three innings in a tied game fine. While winning that is just stupid. DL'ing Threeets to get Sale up was bad idea in my mind. I am assuming that the Threets DL was not a real injury. Threets was doing the job just fine and had earned to be put in stressful situations.
