HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
Harry Chappas replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The Hawks have not played as well as they are capable of while I am not certain the Flyers can play better as I have only seen three of their games this year and they have not impressed me. Half way through the second period Monday the Hawks had won 70% of the face offs for the series. The Flyers dominated that game after that and made it close but at that point, I thought that was an impressive stat. Kane needs to find a way to show America He Has Talent tonight. -

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 10:32 PM) So, taking the game puck is that big of a deal in hockey? Eager cared that much to get in his face about it? Eager was sent to get in his face at the end of the 2nd period and he did. I am sure if Eager wanted the puck he would have gotten it from him. This makes Pronger just look like a big douche that's all. Him and Carcillo are a classy duo. -
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 08:52 AM) exactly, they'll do fine, around the same numbers once the buses full of slack jawed yokels from Iowa start rolling in. The weather hasn't been spectacular every night, a lot of colder nights and rain, so that probably stops the walk ups for the standing room. Yokels from Iowa are not going to be paying the prices the Rickettes family needs to sell them for. Interesting blurb on the radio about the number of rooftops that are going under that the Ricketts are buying.

Just walked in from the game. For the weather that was one of the worst attended games I can remember. My thoughts and I have not read this thread; Santos should have faced the two RHH both batting below .210 in the 6th There is no reason for Mark Kotsay to be on this team. Randy Williams is not a MLB pitcher. Alexi Ramirez could be one of the dumbest players I have ever seen. Other than that, a great game. KW needs to start moving players -

My $.02 Pierre defensively has been better than I thought he would be and his arm while not a cannon is ok.....for a LF he is fine. Teahen and Quentin suck and Rios is fantastic. The rest of them are doing their job for the most part. The defense is better than last year but it still needs to be better. A 1B with better range would be good but Konerko is in my mind above average as he can pick the s***ty throws from the left side of the infield and he is good at the pick off throw to second which is essential with Danks and Buerhle as well as the 3-6-3. -

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) Career vs Harden: Pierre 1/2 Pierz 1/12 w/ BB, 4K (.083) Rios 3/14 (.214) Konerko 1/17 2BB, 5K (.059) Kotsay 1/6 Quentin 2/5 w/ HR, BB, K Ramirez 1/3 w/ BB Vizquel 2/10 w/ 3BB, 4K Beckham 0 PA Looks like an easy night for Harden based on these numbers. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 10:42 AM) Burish. He said it was the first good hit he had all season. Apparently Philly thought they could out muscle the Hawks with one goon who isnt even very big. I love how he was the talk of the pregame and intermission reports yet the only damage he did was to his own player. Ben Eager is pretty underrated. I actually wonder how good he and Versteeg would be if they played along side some more offensively minded talent. -
Why can't Beckham be moved to third and Nix second? I know it is psyche thing but Beckham and Nix are comparable at second and Beckham is better at third.

I think the Carcillo move really backfired on Philly and actually got the Hawks to be more physical early. Niemi again won that game. Was not a fan of sitting back in the third as the Flyers really took it to the Hawks. Hossa is having a really good series as is Dave Bolland. The funny thing was Sopel ran the PP for vancouer when they were in the Finals, I am not sure where that abiiliy went to. He did get beat on the boiuncing puck once but the guy gives up his body like none other. Kane being benched for Eager and Eager scoring was the talk on the radio this morning..... -

The thing that gives me hope is they are.500 against New York, Toronto and Tampa three of the better teams in baseball. Although they can not beat s*** teams so they stay at .500 since the first two weeks of the season..... -

QUOTE (scenario @ May 30, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) Exactly. What the HELL was the thinking there? The pitcher is digging himself a hole and we bail him out? Geezus. Single makes it even worse...Ramirez is 2-4 in stolen base attempts -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 30, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) AND THAT IS WHY PEOPLE WERE COMPLAINING ABOUT NIX SITTING ON THE BENCH WHILE OMAR WAS GETTING MORE PLAYING TIME! Nix can't play short or third.......now if you are saying if Beckham stays cold should he move to second and Beckham AAA to work on things...... -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) Nix has to stay back here and look up the middle. Not a good match-up with his pull habit. Exactly right on both counts... -

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 30, 2010 -> 02:23 PM) Watch Ozzie leave him in there for the 6th. If he does, he should be fired. It's clear the guy has NOTHING in the tank and virtually every ball was hit hard that inning, including two of the hardest being outs. Should go Santos, Putz, Thorton Jenks... If Rios can't drive in a couple it won't matter the bottom 6 in the line up are 0-10 with Teahen having 2 hits. THis team will be incredibly rested for the college football season that is for sure......maybe the air is out in the dome. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2010 -> 02:15 PM) This is out of hand? Peavy's struggling but he's given up 3 runs through 5. It will be with the way Peavy is pitching. A 3-1 lead will be 5-3 deficit quickly. Did you see yesterday's game. The Sox really need a long man. -

With the off day tomorrow one of Santos, Putz, Thorton or Jenks should be in already. Guillen is letting games get out of hand. -

Kopecky has had a great playoff (when he has played) The refs were brutal tonight and I thought the Hawks seemed to outplay the Flyers. Kane was nonexistant. Great game. -
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) Flyout, K, K, Motte cleaned it up I love being wrong. On the Zambrano thing he threw a simulated game on Monday......they could have used his bat in the lineup as well for at least one at bat.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) True. And now the only player in Chicago more disappointing than CQ and Beckham has a great chance to finally make some noise. Scratch that, fly out for A-Ram. Soriano and/or byrd will come through with something though. cub pen 8 Ip 3 hits 4 K's
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:40 PM) Well, Cardinals haven't scored any runs against the Cubs mop-up relievers in 8 innings, and Cubs are creeping back into the game. cubs will end up winning this game agasint good bullpen pitchers actually. Why did they not bring in Zamabrano to stretch him out as this would have been perfect. Something is off with that situation.
