  1. QUOTE (Brian @ May 5, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) Niemi with some sick saves so far He's on his head
  2. I love watching Rios play when he is on. He makes baseball look so easy.
  3. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ May 4, 2010 -> 03:42 PM) Daryl Drake (WR coach for the beloved) He makes a good point about not stereotyping, however, I think my dog could still beat Devin Hester in a game of scrabble. Sorry, I just don't see how that guy is very smart. Wasn't it the Bears that said it about Hester and Bennett and why they were struggling in their first year's as WR not the media?
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 5, 2010 -> 11:09 AM) The refs are ridiculous. The Phantom fouls need to go away, the traveling is extinct. While the NHL playoffs get better, the NBA gets worse. Yet if you listen to B&B on the score you would think NBA playoff basketball is the greatest thing there is.
  5. I think Jin is alive.....same as the freighter...... I have always thought about the kid being Kwon as well
  6. Really is sad that there is no crowd out there and you could not have more beautiful weather. Time for Lost.
  7. At some point the pitching just has no chance to win because they are unable to make one mistake. How many 4+ run innings have they given up compared to how many times they have scored more than 2 in an inning. Close games go to hell rather quickly.
  8. I jsut wish guillen would stop talking as he looks more a fool as the days go by Two weeks back set LH/RH line-ups One week ago Pierre not going to lead off what nonsense will he spew this week?
  9. The old haunting by the former player(s) should be good this week.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2010 -> 01:40 PM) I'm so on the trade Buehrle bandwagon right now. Buehrle is what he is. Good hitting teams will beat him up. I think in the NL he would be great. I am more comcerned with Paevy though. Pitching in the AL is light years different than the NL.
  11. I wish they would've flipped Mark with Jake for the Texas series. Any recollection of Mark v. Yanks did not end well.
  12. I was holding off on posting but the Sox for some reason are looking good to me on this trip in that they are starting to score a little more later in games and seem to be coming back much more often. Also how do the cubs hit great pitchers. Nice win
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) Prediction on lineup tomorrow: Pierre Vizquel Rios Konerko AJP Quentin Teahen Ramirez Kotsay Looks right. I bet Harden goes at least six with 10 strikeouts
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) At this point, I just hope we don't suck enough to kill our payroll next year. I have no doubt the Twins will win the AL Central, as everything has come together for them this season (besides Nathan). Sadly I can accept the Twins are better and the Sox may not make the playoffs. The thing that irritates me is that this is just a s*** product with a manager that is proving he is unable to evaluate a flawed thought process. Oh and Mark will get the bejesus hit out of him this weekend as the Yankees pound the crap out of him.
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) Not sure who would argue that he isn't better than Sopel, Hendry, or Byfuglien? A couple of pages back I said that Sopel was playing the best of any defenseman and as far as defense goes I still believe this. Check out his TOI, especailly on the PK. In the game where Nashville had a 5 on 3 the puck was on his side for about 30 seconds and they did not get a SOG. He also played the most minutes in the 5 minute kill and created the game winning shot. I thought Sopel was an utter waste of money but the guy does what he is currently doing it well. He can not move or shot but he gets the s*** kicked out him and he hangs in there. I am not sure why I am fighting the Brent Sopel battle but I think he is playing as well as anyone. Buff is in a bad spot and Hendry wasn't getting any time. I think Bickell can do what Buff did last year.
  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) And anyone who gets MLB Network and is still watching Baseball Tonight there's something seriously wrong with. I'll put Mitch Williams up against anyone who's ever appeared on Baseball Tonight with confidence that Mitch will significantly out entertain, inform and hold your interest over multiple shows. Quick Pitch is great and the Sunday show that recaps the weekend series as a whole is good......when your team plays well. On a nightly basis MLB Network is also almost liek havingthe MLB package. They seem to be NYY/Bos neutral. All of their on air talent is good.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 09:35 AM) Not saying Pods is even remotely competent in the field but have you ever seen Pierre's arm? Yes I saw it yesterday. He threw the ball from in front of the track to second on the double the throw was not accurate but it was no where near as bad as a Pods attempt at throwing. I also saw him make it to Teahen on a fly to cut down the tying run in the ninth from the track. I think his arm is fine below average but fine.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 11:12 AM) Thornton was warming to come into the game. They didn't want him to, but they also wanted to win that game. If Bobby gave up the tying run, Thornton would have been in. I think we are saying the same thing.
  19. This series has been losing interest more and more. They are big games but no where near as intense as they used to be. This is lame though if you ask me.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 09:59 AM) Actually it was the opposite in his case. Ozzie said after Matt went 2.1 on Friday that he wasn't pitching Saturday, and didn't want him to pitch on Sunday either if he could help it. I know but Thorton was warming in the pen and it was not soft toss. I am not sure why he was throwing but Linebrink and Pena were up in 6th and 7th to get their work in.
  21. anyone see the play yesterday, exact same WS play where the runner is not even at third and Pods has the ball....yesterday he did not even try to throw the guy out at home Pierre nails the runner at second if the throw is on the bag yesterday. Pierre's arm is fine out there.
  22. Couple of things. Because of the off day, many RP were throwing in the pen to get work in. Thorton was one of them. He was throwing in the 9th and ready to go. The thing about Jenks, Byrnes was not swinging until he had two strikes. The pitch to Kotchman had great movement unfortunatly he did not get it inside enough and it broke out over the plate. Rios needed to catch the ball in center he seems to be aware of he wall. Danks is the White Sox best pitcher. Will Greg Walker get any credit for the work he did with Rios if he has a year to match his salary?
  23. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 01:53 AM) Harder of course. Vancouver is probably who we will play next (barring a collapse) and they actually have an offense (Sedins-Burrows line have been amazing all year) to go along with their defense. Kesler, Raymond, etc.. those guys are tough and Luongo can steal a game if need be. (though Kane has his number.. ) IMO, they are not a good match for us as they always play us tough with their style. Should be a fun rematch for them though regardless and for us. Getting to be a pretty sick rivalry. And if we happen to win that series, we might play SJ (though we match up well against them) or Detroit in the WCF, so this cup run won't be a cake walk. I think on a match-up basis alone the Hawks match up well against Vancover as oppossed to Nashville. The Preds seem to be able to do what it takes to get the Hawks off their game.
