Official 2010-11 NFL Thread

QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 03:06 AM) With so few picks in this draft you gotta wonder why one of them was a QB.. If Cutler gets hurt they are done so it was a wasted pick. If they could develop him and trade him in a few years that would be fine but the Bears have not done this since around the time of WWII so that is not likely. In the end this is a wasted pick. In years when they had no good starter at QB a pick like this would make sense.....having Orton as a starter, this pick would make sense. I am sure he and Cutler will not be traded tips. The D2 O lineman looks good and hopefully Tice is good at his job. Their draft is the same year after year. Grab a safety and d-lineman and then grab a couple of guys that are stretch picks. Rumor is Angelo is going to step into a consultant role and the guy from Seattle will become the GM.....you know, the guy that thought that Hutch was not worth money and gave it to the washed up RB instead. -
I thouhgt they were on at 6 and just saw that they won

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 09:56 AM) Even after signing Peppers, they let Brown and O-Gun go and had Adams die. That's 3 linemen out, 1 in, 2 if you count moving Adams. Didn't they draft two DE guys last year and have drafted one every year for the last four. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) Link Juan Cruz will be on the cubs by nightfall.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) I actually don't think there is any possibility that the Dolphins draft a QB. I know they've been shopping Thigpen, but he's a decent backup, Pennington is a good backup, and, quite frankly, Pat White is a good backup as a Michael Vick lite. There's just no way they would draft either Clausen or McCoy unless they fell to, like, the 4th or 5th round, and that won't happen. Thinking about Colt McCoy, he reminds me of Trent Edwards when he was coming out - good at a lot of things, not great at anything. Edwards has had like 2 more shoulder surgeries since then and his arm strength seems to be shot. I still think the Bills should look into getting Campbell from Washington and then drafting a developmental QB like Skelton. McNabb is to injury prone for them to move Campbell -

Wish I had the dough for the ones that are out there. Lower level row six on the blueline. Yikes. -
What a disaster this rotating DH NL lineup idea is...

QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) KW could have easily signed any of these guys.... BA/OBP/SLG DH Matsui .302/.380/.587 DH Damon .327/.431/.400 DH Vlad .327/.367/.418 also Podsednik .449/.526/.469 Though its also sad when our best hitter(maybe top 3) is making 500k a year and is playing DH w/ 10 gold gloves. None of those guys Play the defense required to be a rotating DH. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 10:19 AM) Why might those guys be starting too often? It couldn't be because Beckham and Rios haven't been hitting any better than Vizquel and Kotsay, could it? Those two are the future regadless of how bleak it may be Omar and Kotsay are not and if you think playing them is a good thing I do not know what to tell you. If they served the roles they were signed for I would be fine but they are in the lineup way too often thus I think they shoudl be realeased. That and they both are worthless but keep thinkingthey will get better because ozzeroo thinks they will. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) Because you know what will save this team? Better backups. But these guys are not back ups they are starting too often, that is the problem. Beckham and Rios do not need two days off out of four. -

QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 10:11 AM) this team needs something that will rock it to its core, shock the sh*t out of them and cause them to refocus. That could be a firing, big player trade, something. It should be a DFA of Omar and Kotsay but it will not. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) You're arguing that Donny Lucy is part of the solution. Read the whole post I said he was not a long term option but he was actually having god at bats I guess that means nothing as it does not with guillen. I never saw Lucy play and he could suck but he was doing some good which is beter than the year plus of swinging at the first strike we see mentally. I AM NOT SAYING PLAY LUCY OVER AJ what I am saying is if Castro was healthy he would have twice as many at bats as Lucy and would be facing every leftie they face and I never saw him have a good at bat. Lucy is also as good defensively as AJ. I guess the ground out on the first pitch is just what this team needs nightly.
-
I have sided with JR and understand his philosophy but I am tired of being told I need to support the s*** product if I want them to spend. I should not have to watch this team because it has a $100M payroll. This team is not worth watching as guillen trots out two guys that I would not want to see in the independent league. I know Lucy is not a long term option but when he was hitting the ball he should have played. Now he will rot away as we watch AJ look like s*** play on Sunday go 0-4 and not play again for a week as AJ swings at first pitch and the ball never leaves the infield.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:46 PM) No, comments that add absolutely zero value to the discussion are awful. Statements like he doesn't have 4 starts to figure it out, etc. He's got a Cy Young, was brilliant in 4 starts last year, and hasn't been near as bad this year as some of you guys seem to indicate. So when you take a game thread and spout the same stuff 1000 times that isn't even accurate or have a shred of fact to it, that is what ruins the game thread, because it fills the game thread with unintelligent nonsense. The unintelligent nonsense started with the posting of the lineup we are just following suit.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) And talking about what a piece of s*** this team is ok. Talking about how Peavy is completely worthless, etc. How about some perspective people. I'm dissapointed but get yourselves in control cause these game threads are flat out embarrassing and to be quite frank ignorant. It is just a way to pass the time as the game progresses. Tampa is good and this lineup could not be worse. The tone was set when he blew a two run lead by walking 6 guys. The thread should be as embarassing as the lineup, it is almost there.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) It's 3-2 so we do have chance, but your definition might leave is with a handful of pitchers through MLB history. I understand what you are saying though He will barely make it 5 innings same as the Indian game from his first start. If the offense is not working a five inning 3 run start is not good.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) Seriously, STFU people. You are the same guys that were busy talking about how awful Floyd was last year and what a joke of a pitcher he was too when he started rough. Give it a rest people. You are ruining the game thread. Sorry but there is not much to talk about.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:25 PM) Yeah you're right. That must be why they moved him into the f***ing bullpen, because he was so dominant as a starter they felt sorry for the other teams Ya they moved him because it makes perfect baseball sense. They have two guys with pen experience and yet they are not moved. Performance has nothing to do with that move.
