Official 2009-2010 NHL Thread

Last night was as good a game as I have seen in a while. The Kings never really got into the game and that was a back to back for the Hawks and the Kings had been off since Sunday. Kane and Hossa seemed glued to the boards though and very sluggish. The defense was incredibly solid and Keith showed that he is the best player on that team. I think he played every minute of every power play. -

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Mar 18, 2010 -> 12:11 PM) Yeah the only people calling that a hit to the head are the asshole announcers that thought Seabs was acting. Did you hear that replay on the SCORE those could have been the most clueless asshats I have ever heard. Yep he could hit and thought let me roll my eyes into the back of my head and go limp all for the affect. If the Hawks had won last night they would have been tied with San Jose in points with the same number of games remaining and more wins. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 18, 2010 -> 12:14 AM) It's a one goal, then tie game...not the time to settle scores. You are still trying to win a hockey game, not sacrifice 2 points to do so. If it was an isolated incident I would agree but it started with Cleary last year and has now been magnified. Last night was the time to do something about it. At some time somebody needs to do something. Burish was hell bent on this when he came back and last night he, eager and Lil Buff were nowher to be seen. Sadly Brower and ladd will have to do these types of things. Eager has become worthless. Q liked Crawford and itsounds like he could be in the mix. -

Two illegal hits could end any hopes of the Hawks having any playoff success and all they have to show is Nick Boyton getting beat up although he did get in a shot or two. Injuries are part of the game but they were caused by late illegal hits. The Seabrook hit should get at least 5 if not 10 games. Sadly though these things do seem to be something the Hawks could rally around although it did not look like it tonight. Crawford looked ok but Hiller was awesome. With now a subpar defensive corp and no goaltending this is not looking good. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) Lyons said apparently Ozzie asked the players who the best CF was and they said Jones. He was a few injuries ago. I think it is a disaster waiting to happen to put him out there as he has not been a model of health for a couple of years. His bat is needed moreso than the CF defense. -

Rios is the best OF of the bunch and he seems to have a fragile psyche. Let him play where he wants. -
I liked Nix last year but for some reason wish he was not goignot make it this year. Same thing with lillibridge.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 07:13 AM) One main revelation in the alternate reality is that Sawyer is a completely different person. He made a choice earlier in his life to be good and not evil...way before the day the flight was supposed to crash. There has to be some significance to that. Plenty of things last night which I thought were good. Anthony Cooper is still a con man but Locke and he are friends now and it sets up a Sawyer Locke confrontation at some point. Sawyer/Kate; Jin/Sayid; Hugo/Jack/Locke are now connected. The MIB told us he has a back story which may not be as old as Jacob's. I think it has been slow but as long as it moves along I am cool. Next week should be good.

I want to like De Aza but he is too slappy for me. Reminds me of Wise. -

AJ does a lot of things right but driving in runs is not one of them. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) I figure worse case, Iowa hires Keno Davis. Former Hawkeye, young, pretty charasmatic, and has done a solid job. Not an exciting hire though so I'm hoping they can hit it big. I'm also a realist and our program isn't what it was a few years ago. They do have a new practice facility being built though and they are 4th in big ten spend on basketball which should be enticing to plenty of coaches. Is he Tom Davis kid?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) Terrible terrible explanations BTW. This show is "Lost." My theory is that they alternate reality will show what happens if Jacob never existed, were they better off without the island. Either that or its going to show that no matter what lifeline they followed, they are always going back to the island somehow. In the alt timeline though, the island is underwater.

QUOTE (striker @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 10:40 AM) Pena looked good last night. He looked overpowering against righties with the exception of the hanging slider he served up to Guillen. He looked bad against the only lefty he faced though. 4 pitches, 4 balls. With a man a second he pitched around Mitch Maier to get to...............Josh Fields worked like a charm. The hanger was not missed by Guillen.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) Can't blame that one on Huet. He played a great game. Bad loss by the Hawks not even getting a point out of it. With two minutes left that would have been the first game all season that Huet won by himself.....if he makes those two stops that would have been a helluva game. Still a good game by Huet. -

I like that the kid went balls out in a split squad spring training game. The boy's got game, heart and desire. I think he will work hard play by August, destroy the AFL and Venezuelan winter league and look to make the big club some time in 2011. It could be a good thing if he was on the KW trade list. It also could be bad if he was on the KW trade watch, depending on how you look at it.
