  1. Nix looks terrible. Actually neither team seems all that interested in being there.
  2. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) Jones looking at lot like a corner OF playing CF tonight. Ya he looks like dye running out there
  3. Twittering Tea not looking real good when I watch. First two guys walk and then he swings at a ball in the dirt on the first pitch. 3 walks, 3 K's looking and a wild pitch get a run.
  4. QUOTE (The Critic @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) I just found out that I will have the chance to stand respectfully and quietly during the anthem this Sunday!!! You f***ing commie bastard.
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 12:55 PM) anybody remember this guy? Was that was actaully a cover? I have never seen it before. They used to have all of the covers in the bullpen sports bar.
  6. Every bullpen has questions and almost all of the more then the Sox. Linebrink should get two days off between apperances and be limited ot 50 innings.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 12:12 AM) Thats the beauty of what he does. Nobody is talking about any of the players doing badly, everyone is talking about Ozzie. He sets it up that way. Cowley was on WSCR last night and had some things to say about KW and his ego and Guillen wanting the spotlight and KW being a tad envious of this. I see his point but I do not think the Sox outside of AJ have a player that wants the spotlight thus Guillen takes on all of the pressure that comes with it. Maybe KW's feelings are hurt that Guillen's fame is rising and KW is getting pushed to the background. I personally think it is good for the team to have Guillen be the focal point. KW will get a bat if needed.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) I want to punch Bill Melton. He's worse than Ron Santo and that's saying a lot. Santo is paid to do his job I highly doubt Melton is even paid for christ sake he is on an internet broadcast.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) which is why I think if the offense starts off slow KW will pull the trigger on a trade to get a bat in I think KW would have passed on Pierre and Kotsay and went after Thome and Damon.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) Seeing that the 2003 year was one where we were quite close to winning the division, who knows what might have happened had we not made that trade. Many people think that the 2003 team was arguably the best we've had in over a decade. We wound up 4 back for the division and who knows if we kept those 3 nobodies if maybe one of them had a flash in the pan year that could have gotten us over the top...ala Cotts in 2005. Or maybe we could have used them as trade pieces for something more effective for 2003 instead of a complete waste in Ritchie. They would not have given Loiaza the opportunity he got if those three were still around and thus 2003 would have sucked. Then not traded Estaban for Jose the ace of the 2005 playoff run. In that regard the Ritchie trade was a gem.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) Sox are denying Ozzie's wish to launch his own website How can they legally do that?
  12. Sox released opening day tickets. Upper Deck Box. If interested PM me and I will give you the pass code....oh screw it.....it is OPENER.
  13. QUOTE (Cali @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) CQ needs to keep that up going into the season. Don't be the Fields-Anderson Award winner this season, please! Ya it is not like he isn't an MVP Caliber player when healthy. Has Retherford been around all spring I forgot all about him.
  14. Only on Soxtalk can an article praising the work of KW turn into a thread about the worst trades he has made. The Mariners got nothing out of the Freddy Garcia trade.
  15. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) I don't understand the reasoning behind his reassignment if they were still to use him in games. There is more fundamental training in the minor league camps. The MLB guys are playing everyday and travel and what not. They are not working on the fundamentals and doing more basic baseball drills. They are in the same complex and can be used at home games later in the game. I also think 40 man roster things have something to do with it but I am not sure. It really is not a big deal.
  16. There was some good stuff but I still thought it was very slow moving. The change in Roger Linus was cool. A part of me thought that maybe Alex and the principal had a thing and Ben was going to have a Locke moment of defeat in the end. The flash sideways commentary of leadership and taking over was kind of cool.
  17. Remeber about Pena that he did not work with Coop in the spring. I am not saying it is a Coop'll fix him.....yes I guess I am but you never know. Hopefully they can get somethign out of Threets. Without researching but based on the limited action I have seen, Teahan is not off to a great start.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) Then who were the others that followed Ben? People who over time were brought to the island by Jacob.
  19. The thing that makes the cubs look bad is the ages of the players. Should they continue to age which by nature they have to and begin to regress, it is not goign to be pretty. It is a fact that is spoken of here daily that Konerko, AJ, Linebrink and Buerhle are going to regress due to age yet Dempster, Lilly, Lee, and the likes on the north side are impervious to this.
  20. Howard Stern was talking this morning about the writers not having any idea how the show will end........I am starting to think I agree. In the strory arc Ben was to be in four episodes. People liked him and he was written in more.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 12:16 PM) The odds in Vegas are just like a market in a stock or future. They want a balance of action, but not too much risk. A run of people betting on a team pushes the odds lower. If no one bets on a team, it pushes it to a bigger number. The bettors only drive the line with heavy activity. This affects popular bets like the Super Bowl or the cubs. The cubs line is drastically off because of the action played on them. The line will be set to a point that Vegas feels it will not move. I view this as a greater indicator of potential outcome then a book that is looking to be sold such as.....Baseball Prospectus. Baseball prospectus has been off by an average of 7 wins a year for the Sox so chances are whatever they are doing is not working as wel las they would liek you to believe. I personally think that the Sox are much better this year than last.
  22. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) Jared Mitchell in for Rios. Busy day for him. Maybe they are putting him on the Boone Logan express.
  23. I think if they move Frank back to Rt and let Shaffer be the swing tackle and pick up a good LG they will be fine.
  24. QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) Melton. LOL. "Pierzynski hit well over .300 last year." Ummm.... Bill... AJ hit exactly .300 last year. But, hey, Melton never seems to let the facts get in the way of an interesting conversation. After having listened to the drivel that is the cub broadcast Melton need not be close to being correct. The little go around about Ronnie chipping his tooth and any conversation surrounding Carlos Silva emergence as the 4th starter was pure gold. I felt stupid listening to the broadcast. Case in point, during the Sox/Dodgers broadcast there wasa conversation about the fact that Jenks may not be what he used to be and hopefully the rest of the pen can pick it back up.....cub broadcast John Grabow is the solid 8th inning guy and the "young live arms" are going to fill in for Guzman and Marmol.
