I love this thread. Rios is an elite defender which is the Sox biggest weakness. Rios is a career .290 hitter with speed. Rios is 28. The White Sox are paying $10+M for guys that do one thing hit homers and run really slow. Some moron on Ranger's post game show compared his contract to Soriano's.....all I could say is wow. I'd hate for Paevy to get a start this year and get hit around the winter months would be unbearable especially if Dex Carter wins the Aruba winter league ERA championship.

Official 2009-2010 NFL Thread

It is not a chop block it was an illiegal block below the waist by and outside reciever coming back toward the ball. A chop block is a combination block and is legal at the LOS at the snap. Either way it was a really bad play. Ray Lewis can only blow up the QB if he is participating the play. IF at the snap he is just standing there, he can not be hit. Favre is a douche. -
For the infastructure and infusion of funds to the city, I do not see how you could not want them..... I also think before all is said and done. The funding for an indoor stadium that the cubs and Sox will both use periodically as well will be built to get Superbowls, the Final Four and kickass monster truck rallies. Not the crap that goes on at Allstate Arena.

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) Yep. That's why it is. Besides, the city is far enough away that you wouldn't see much of it, even if there weren't giant light poles, banners, three scoreboards and a fundamentals area in the way. Go up to the top level and look out at the skyline from there. It is amazing view. It would have the best view of maybe any sporting event there is on a clear day. You see the entire skyline. Real bad move.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) I will say this in the Cubs defense, I don't think they have quit. I just think they are incredibly mediocre and have been that way consistently almost all season. That is more than can be said for our guys, unfortunately. We went from mediocre to outright qutting the last couple of weeks. What have the Sox done differently that the cubs have not. Did you see Soriano yesterday...the guy ended the game swinging at three pitches that were never in the strike zone. The Sox were beaten by two of the better teams in baseball and outside of Mr. Rockie the pitching was fantastic, they just could not hit. The cub homestand went 5-5 against the Nats, Astros, Mets and Sox to say the Sox have quit but the cubs have not........I could not agree less with If the cub goes 7-3 which they should have at worst, they would be 4 out with a cupcake schedule beyond belief. In the same time the Sox have lost 5 games in the standings, the cubs have lost 10.

Kotsay is a great platoon bench player but he can not hit LHP, Dye would have been good there if could play first but you do not want to give up the defense.
-
Nice ab by Q would be great.

What happened?

This is where AJ has sucked this year.
-
For having a great year, Marshall is 3-7 with a 4.50 ERA....I realize ERA is bogus as Linebrink, Dotel and gas can Tony all have lower one's but I thought he was going well compared to the banterings of cub talk.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 03:32 PM) what a great trade that turned out to be I keep looking for the Joe Borchard threads in Diamondclub but I am not seeing them.

Wow Thorton. Also would like to see a couple of runs added here so we can BRING IN DJ!!!! I think DJ and Thorton are locks going forward as far as consistentcy is concerned, which along with Jenks is about all you can ask for.

I agree that Wise gives it everything he has. I hated him....no I hated the situation he was put in, earlier in the year but he has kind of worn on me. The massive contracts the cubs hold is enough to make anyone sick.

Outside of the Colorado Rockie the starting rotation has been amazing on this road trip. The offense sucks beyond belief. The pen has been bad but there is no room for error with anyone out there as the offense can not get back anything they give up.

QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:31 PM) Sure we do. Did you miss the game winning hit 24 hours ago? Something about sunshine and a dog's ass comes to mind when thinking about this.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) So when did Gordo quit trying to drive the ball the other way? That was what made him so effective. Sadly that is the White Sox mantra.......I thought one thing about Rios was he did not strike out often.......

Cleveland tied detroit.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:15 PM) Expectations of your team and hope that they win are not indicative of being a fan? Really? What is? b**** and moaning and constantly saying negative comments about the players, coaches and front office? The difference between perception and reality the optomistic fan sees a chance to win until you are eliminated. The pessismistic fan see the season as it has played out thus far and feelsthat it will continue. Neither is a lesser of a fan in my book.

I hope the Sox average three hit batters a game the next time the Royals come to town.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) Pods sure can hit. Now if he could just get a baserunnng lesson we'd be set. That seems to be the Sox luck, how friggin hard is it to run the bases?
-
The White Sox should really all come to the game in a clown car. I also agree that CQ is getting a free pass. He looks to be healthy and able to pick up right wher Dye and Thome left off next year...god I hope i am wrong.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) I'd argue that Getz has it too. It's probably the best skill that he has to offer. I would agree but for a player with zero power he needs to be more selective. He is useless unless his OBP is over .360.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) Virtually no baseball IQ. You are so right and I wish this was something that was talked about outside of this forum. Going the other way and playing sound baseball is baseball IQ, AJ is the only person on that team that has it. Our pitchers do not even have it hence the lead off walks, 0-2 hits and 2 rallies they give up. Lettting go strikes go and fouling off tough pitches are things Sox hitters are incapable of.

They wanted home plate to be at the corner of 35th and Shields. Real bad decision among many that went into building that place.
-
I am in the phase where I want to see good baseball played and if they lose because the team is betterthan them, fine. I just hate the effortless s*** and bad baseball we have seen a good portion of this season.
