Buerhle will be a nice solid number 4 starter next year. -

To get to the earlier point of this thread the home run mentality works if the hitters are hitting them and not slumping to a .150 clip when they are not hitting them. -

I find it really sad that this team is unable to win there. They are a main division rival and the Sox suck there. I can not wait for this season to be over and changes to be made to this pathetic group. -
Thome, $ to LAD for Fuller-Jose to COL for $, Hynick

QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 10:09 AM) Found this on another site: "To me, Thome symbolizes KW giving right back in to the urge to have the same offense he had from 01-04. On the WS video, he brags about dumping Maggs, Carlos, and Jose to become more versatile. The next season we become station to station again. This team needed to dump Thome. It needs speed and non-pull hitters. Get back to pitching and defense. " Sox offense from 2001-2004 when corpseball entered the White Sox vernacular..... -

QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 09:17 PM) here is my quote... "i will be the first to state that gambling might have a lot more to do with this teams overall performance than anyone can ever imagine." you draw whatever conclusion you want from it. lets just say this...if we ever have a beer together i will blow your mind away with things you never considered. and i am not the only fan from chicago to bring these things up. but i am definitely not stupid enough to bring it to any forum. hell no. You do understand that there is not enough money in gambling for this to be worth it for any player making above $400K. Why am I even wasting my time thinking about this pointless topic. -

Sadly I thought this team was good. I fell bad for Pods, Floyd, Carrasco and Danks as they appear to be the only people that give a s***. Not sure what to think of Beckham, Quentin, Ramirez and Rios. How many times has this team come back in a game? -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) I wish they would show a montage of the Sox "greatest" moments from the dome - all the errors, all the bloop hits. "Winning" the 2000 division title there and running around drinking beer on their field was pretty cool. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) Not nearly as painful as what happens on the field... Bye,bye second place. That happened Friday did it not? You know Stone Pony, baseball is a funny game.......a funny game indeed..........some times Stoney you just never know what will happen..........once in a while the game will surprise you, this great game of ball, when you think one thing will happen something completely opposite happens. I have been around this game for over 50 years and I see something new everyday. Sit back, relax and strap it down. -
Sox at Yankees August 30th game thread

2-6 in the line-up are 1-17 without a walk McDougal was kind of treated like Vazquez was in that he didn't live up to expectations he was no worse than Linebrink has been. This entire season is a bust because of inconsistent hitting. Every pitcher needs to be perfect every time out as this team is unable to come from behind or consistently score runs after that 5th inning. I do not thin the Sox have won more than 5 games when losing after. I hope this is a wake up call for next year and Ramirez, Quentin, Rios and Beckham can turn into consistently productive hitters which none are at this point in time. I also wouldn't mind Pods being the lead-off man next year. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 12:39 PM) It's easy to be negative lately, but Jose was throwing slop that first inning; soft slop. That does not bode well for the next time through tht order. Don't like what I saw in inning No. 1. Of course we have done nothing in 2 innings agianst their hack pitcher. What? When is 94 soft slop come on he pitched well that inning. You dod know he got Tex on a good fork ball and A-Rod on a fastball. -

The Nix error is an out 99% of the time s it was on the exchange. He also got he out when he picked the ball up. I like Nix though. This offense is abysmal. Mitre can only go 5 or 6 they said which means he will go 7 against this offense. -
This Milton Bradley thing is yet another blind media flock. He was brought he because he was a winner....yet he has never won anything and seems to piss off rather easily. He was brought in to drive in runs....yet he has never been a run producer. He is an OBP DH...the cubs sold him to their stupid fans as something he has never been and now they are blaming him for not being that. I feel a little bad for the guy as he does lead the team in OBP. He has not underproduced any worse then Soriano, Soto or Zambrano

"Just missed it" "Can of Corn" His best quote of all is the frustrated silence.

The insult to injury is watching the Tigers and Twins beat the bullpens (Seattle and Baltimore) that shut the White Sox out quite recently

How good would they be if Jeff Francis was not hurt.

This season is bad because of the opportunites wasted. This team has played in a tough division in previous years and lost becasue it was tough (see 2006). They play in as bad a division as there has been in a while and they are blowing it. This team has gotten maybe 5 big hits all year if that. The predictability and complacency of this team is what is sad right now. They can not hit bullpen pitchng at all and never hit a closer. The station to station baseball is fine when you are hitting but Dye could be the worst player in baseball over the last six weeks and when the Sox get someone he b****es about it. The roller coaster of this season is getting to people I think. Jeez Gage tried to blow the team in late May and there is no bigger fan than that. We all know the Sox are the best team in the division and they are giving it away...this is 2003 all over again.

Just in time to get the cubs for 6.

White Sox Weekend: Officially Un-Rootable
Harry Chappas replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I recall Jim H vaguly but he and fathom do not get along I take it. I think Guillen deserves a good amount of the blame for the inconsistency with this team. I am not saying he should be fired or anything but this is the first time in his tenure that I do not think he is remotly close to getting the best out of his team. -
Boys in Vegas put the Sox at a 3-1 dog.....

Contreras to pen; Peavy to start Saturday
Harry Chappas replied to PeavyTime's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) If there is any doubt whether Peavy is ready or not, I'd pitch Jose in that game. Basically, throwing him under the bus against the Yanks with CC on the hill for them. I don't want Peavy back unless he's close to 100% and I damn sure don't want to throw Hudson to the wolves in that situation. Isn't it CC and Buerhle Friday and Gaudin on Saturday? -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:06 AM) I have a thing for guys who come in and aren't expected to do anything, but do anyway. I like underdogs I guess. My AAP's include Wassermann and Remenowsky (both NDFA), previously Sergio Miranda (13th rounder), currently Charlie Shirek (23rd round and he's doing quite well), and I'm working now to try to get an interview with Joe Serafin. I have a lot of respect for guys that find a way to succeed regardless of expectations. And I tend to loathe players who are the opposite - high talent players who don't seem to make the full effort, and don't understand what it takes to really win out. Not to mention the CJ Retherford poster above your bed.
