QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 10:05 AM) I also don't want to see 2006 relived. You know where Dye, Thome and others decided to stop hitting in August and September. That started in July this year.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 10:15 AM) Oh, you were talking about Sizemore so I thought you were comparing him to the league at large. I think I prefer Pods or Beckham leading off, but you could make a case for Rios if you're just talking about Sox players. Pods hitting .305....I agree Beckham is an RBI machine which would be wasted at the top of the order.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 10:13 AM) Apparently because of the long flight? http://www.daily-chronicle.com/articles/20...36143/index.xml I hope he plays tonight--flight be damned. If he plays half asleep he will fit right in with Dye, Konekro, Thome, and Ramirez and the defense will still be better as it is totally asleep right now.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 10:11 AM) Does not compute. For the options available to the Sox .335 is fine. His strikeout ratio is low and with Beckham and Quentin hitting behind him he should see good pitches. He does not walk enough but you take what you can get.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 11:55 PM) Wow, Gorzellany (sp?) doesn't face the Reds and look what happens! Cardinals have a lot of games left with teams under .500 and the Cubs are now in 2nd place where even if they win all 4 of their games in hand they come up a game short. A week ago in this thread the games in hand favored the cub...ooops.....this means the cub will have to use the 5th starter more often then they'd like and the Cards should they so desire will not.

I looked at the stats of Grady Sizemore compared to Rios and while Sizemore is the better power hitter I think Rios is the better defender and makes better contact....this trade really is a good move considering what the options were going forward. Rios is as good a lead-off candidate as anyone his career OBP is .335.

Does Wise have dirt on Ozzie or Kenny?

Skipping the fifth starter is going to cost this team as all four starters look like they could use an extra day of rest right now. -

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 11:14 PM) Castro should have thrown out Wilson by 5 feet and Floyd should have made a better pitch that is why this game sucks right now. They took the lead and pissed it away. Castro hit now do something. Pods quickly coming back down to earth man does this team love to swing at anythign close. -

What and the f*** pitch was that a belt high center cut batting practice pitch...on 0-2 come on give me a f***ing break and it's 3-0 Floyd should not be in this game by the way. Need to pull him now before there is a steal of second. -

QUOTE (aprec32 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 10:58 PM) Why? To get it to Castro? To try and get a better pitch to hit. No need to swing just because it is a strike and Floyd about to give it right back...think Griff will try and steal -
