QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 10:26 PM) What in the blue hell was that? Not sure but I am laughing like those silly high school girls watching pranca run.

I posted in the game thread but I will state here that Pods got a great pitch to hit because Beckham was on deck. The $40M plus payroll of Jose, Dye, Konekro, and Thome can join in whenever they'd like. Great job by the pen...

QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 10:14 PM) Where has he been? cubs road trip Gordon Beckham won that game.......................... How you ask????????? By being the bad muther f***er that was going to walk them off thus Pods got himself a cookie and unlike the 3-4-5 hitters crushed it It is amazing what happens when there are not three automatic outs in the game.....s*** there ain't an easy out no more.
-
The middle three right now are painful to watch hit. They get the occasional homer but then have simply woeful at-bats. Konerko is not really that bad but it seems Dye gets the occasional homer and Thome the occasional walk. One good game a week is not what they all are all making over $10M to do. I'd like a Derek Lee type roll for about 10 games.

If Dye, Konerko and Thome get their s*** together this team walks away with this division.

What would it take to get Carl Crawford

The Peavy deal allows them to move Danks or Floyd and only need to find a number 4 in the rotation........ -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 11:23 AM) Really? Because this is a lot faster of a timetable then the Padres ever had him on. If this is true, Peavy is going to be here sooner than a lot of us expected. The Padres were not going to have him pitch this year as there was no need for it. He was going to be traded in the off season and they did not wnat to risk his value dropping. He said he wanted to be back by the end of August with them and they said no.

Sox versus Yankees August 2, 2009 game thread

The difference in this series is the ability of the White Sox to score against the Yanks bullpen and keep the pressure off of the White Sox bullpen. -

Reds and Blue Jays considering Rolen-Alonso swap.

So when Rolen is out most of next year with and injury will JP lose his job for not selling high on him? -
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:32 PM) Apparently Morneau and Mauer made it known they were pissed that no deals were in the works to go for it this season. After watching him play defense, they will be even more pissed. Unless they move him to second. His bat will help.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 10:42 AM) Looks like it's for Luke French (who?) and another prospect French doesn't even appear in their BA top 10 prospects list I had him in fantasy baseball when he was a two start guy. He did ok. He has been up for a few weeks. Seemed like a lot ot give up although Washburn could be a Type A free agent and has been doing well.

Why is Seattle selling??? Hope they got something good.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 10:15 AM) Besides Big Papi, there was this dead pull hitter named Williams who seemed to do ok there. Also another lefty with a funny name. I think I've heard Hawk mention him before. Catfish or Sudden Sam McDowell......he has kind of gotten away from Sam.

QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) lol... at Cowley's twitter... "Swish is probably digging himself so much right now he doesn't know what to do. Maybe he could put more gel in his faux hawk." He is the starting RF on the best team in baseball....while the Sox are trying to replace him with Pods, Wise and Kotsay...that is a nice f*** you to the White Sox if I have ever seen one and on top of that may have taking what little heart the Sox had left out of them. -

QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) honestly... its been a long time since the Sox have had a stretch hurt like this one. We are who we thought we were. The Texas / Toronto games were worse as there was no pitching and Floyd and Danks were getting pounded. Mov -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:29 PM) So did Jenks lose his closer spot? The bullpen in my mind is not the issue and has never been it goe to the guys making 8 figures a year that can not hit. Jenks probably has some mystery ailment. If this game is lost it is on the hitting as always. -

Stone was very critical of the fastball to Damon that was hit before it was even thrown. It is amazing how good he is. This offense is as bad as ever except Beckham is there to bail thme out. Truly pathetic. -
QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 02:25 PM) The Astros just love to have starting pitchers who were good in 1999. Russ Ortiz is pitching batting practice today. Maybe we should deal Bartolo to them. cubs hit s*** pitching and are shut down by average and above pitchers.

Isn't the bigger question why are the Reds buyers?
