The AL Central is as bad as the NL Central. -

This is what happens when you can not hit or field. Sadly I think it is time for Walker's name to come up again in conversation. -

Isn't that the record Jenks tied in 2007 that Gathright got the hit to end? -

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 01:38 PM) The last few years of the contract are an afterthought. They could jettison him and he wouldn't count much towards the books. I think under $1M. In other words, I don't think he's going to play all 12 years. Isn't the contract spread evenly over all 12 years whether Hossa is playing or not hence the rationale for a 12 year deal? Kind of like salary cap deferral. -
Brian Anderson traded to Red Sox for Mark Kotsay
Harry Chappas replied to Jimmywins1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Great the Sox play Boston soon. If Anderson is up he will lite up the Sox no doubt about that. The sad thing is Anderson would have helped with the defense in CF and the post season as there is no need to carry 12 pitchers and he could have replaced one of them for the playoffs. Not a good move in my mind as organizationally the Sox are that much thinner should something happen to Quentin or Podsednik. -

Kotsay will replace Fields as he can play first and the OF. He also would lead-off if Podsednik gets hurt or needs a day off which will probably happen soon as he has not had one. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) Red flag? I don't recall you trying to chase Dye out of town when he got in Cabrera's face last year. This is barely a blip on the radar, and frankly I'm glad someone did it. I'm getting tired of Alexei's constant brain farts. Agree with you 100%

Would be nice to score after the sixth in these games and keep the Sox bullpen out of the equation. Guarantee that Punto and Gomez average a run and RBI a game.

Worst case scenario Richard throws out of the pen and has both trade value and starting potential both for this year and next. Colon will be on a short lesh. Colon has trade value because there is a team that is relying on Russ Ortiz and Mike Hampton, another that uses Seth Mclung and finally a team running out Todd Wellemeyer. These teams are in the pennent race as much if not moreso than the Sox. Starting pitching is at a premium and Colon has some sort of value to him.

Nice game Clayton.

CBS Sports has had Pena warming for the last hour and a half. I can not say enough how bad this offense has been lately. There is no effort at all. Pena all over the place.
-
Last two outings have been 8 innings, 1 run, 110 plus pitches it really is sad if he is moved to the pen. I can not wait for this game to end.
-
I thought Granderson should have been Richard's last guy.
-
and the Sox now have 2 hits in the last 7 innings.....wonderful man is this team frustrating to watch......

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) PK pulled off that meatball so badly. Execution continues to be just disgusting. Yep. Why they give away outs to move a guy up is frustrating as hell as the execution is not there especially late in the game.
-
They have never seen this guy before.......that usually is not a good thing as the Sox do not have advanced scouts.

QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 09:06 PM) paulie needs to pick up his triple right here I'll take another walk
-
QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 09:00 PM) i highly doubt someone is going to give us anything worthy for colon Houston, Milwaukee and St. Louis could all use him.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 08:54 PM) And they really need another lefty there. It is going to depend on how Guillen uses him. If he uses him like Poreda it is a waste. He neeeds consistent work. I think Colon gets traded for something decent.
-
This isn't going to end well. Richard needs to find some zip in his fastball...
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) Ozzie might want to get Pena up in the bullpen, as this could be a tough inning for Richard. I like Dotel in the big park.
-
Sox offense is what will cost them this game but the bullpen will again get the blame. They simply can not put teams away and hit bullpen pitching. A team is always in the game.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 08:41 PM) He's not even close to getting hits. His swing is totally f'd up right now. He was that way before the injury as well.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 08:38 PM) Everyone's trying to pad their home run stats it seems. I still want to know how many hits Dye has to right this season. Beckham and Konerko really are the only players that appear to adjust to a situation.
