I think Z goes deep not sure why.
-
I look at this game more that they need to have good at-bats, play good defense and Floyd needs to keep them in the game. Say what you will about Zambrano but if he is on, he is as good as there is in baseball.
-
Danks pitched over that, this is something that Floyd struggles with. Ramirez is really not good at the DP turn.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) It is when there's 2 on in scoring position and pitcher is up next. However, it's just an instinct thing. The good thing is Pods leads off. I think zambrano was more pissed that he didn't get Beckham and then have Floyd lead off.

The bottom of the order is really doing some nice things.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 01:39 PM) Well, at least we're not going to get no hit (and I'm serious, that's a worst case scenario in a game like today with this jackass on the mound). I understand what you are saying. They gotta walk Beckham

Anderson is a much better hitter with nobody on, it is amazing.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) If the ump doesn’t call anything on the outside corner this is not going to be a very pleasant night for Gavin Was he giving that to Zambrano? It looked like it on Gamecast? Were all of the balls hit hard and deep as Gamecast said as well? I am about a mile south of the park and the wind is blowing at what would be straight out to left at about 10MPH.
-
Just got in from luch. Wind is blowing out. The pitcher that keeps the ball down and gets K's will win. Get the ball up and its going to be a long day.

The Twins, Tigers and Indians are having a hell of a time with the NL Central.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 08:41 AM) Would anyone have interest in this guy?? Another "Coop will fix em" Jonathan Sanchez's Trade Value Dropping By Nat Boyle [June 16 at 9:54pm CST] Brian Sabean once said he couldn't imagine trading Jonathan Sanchez. Now he may not be able to. Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News says the lefty flamethrower's stock has declined sharply. Baggarly writes: "Sanchez pitches today against the Angels having won just once over his past nine starts. The Giants are 2-7 over that span. In the process, Sanchez's trade value has declined sharply, according to scouts who have been following the team. Sanchez has struck out 57 in 57 2/3 innings, but scouts have mentioned an all-around drop in the quality of his stuff while noting that his control issues have gotten worse." Baggarly says the Indians reported interest "has cooled" and that teams view Sanchez as more of a bullpen arm. Baggarly adds, "While the Giants have not acknowledged that they are shopping Sanchez, league sources said the 26-year-old left-hander has been an active name as the club seeks a power bat for the middle of the lineup. A Giants source said the team was not close to making any deals. The club has talked to the Texas Rangers about third baseman Hank Blalock, but he isn't considered an ideal fit." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Trade him for Fields.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 07:23 AM) Our first undrafted FA, huh? Always fun to see how those work out. C.J. Retherford says hi.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) Alexei saved by Paul's beautiful hands. He is as lackasdasical as Valentin out there. Kokerko and Lee are the best in the bigs at that.

QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 03:53 PM) Bradley is just not good right now. He's accounted for 40% of their hits today.
-
Gameday had him mid-nineties 96 on strike one is that right?
-
I am amazed at what Pods is doing right now. Ramirez with the nice homer and then a terrible day after that. Just got out of a meeting and read the game thread, thanks for the good work folks. If Jenks lets more than two guys on, they need to go to Thorton. Thorton needs to be used in bigger situations. Linebrink is the fourth best option out of the pen right now.....assuming Dotel is only suffering from a dead arm.
-
I know I sound like a broken record but if they let Dumpster hang himself he will.
-
Need to keep doing what got Dumpster in trouble in the playoffs. If you make him pitch he crumbles, same with Marmol.
-
Need to make Dumpster work. Please don't get picked off or thrown out there is a two run lead play it safe.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) Good thing they're not playoff games and are prospects get to have learning curves. OH, look what just happened! I din't say it was a bad thing it is just that there is additional pressure whether guys want to say it or not. Odd things happen in these games. The Beckham coming out party was a jab at this site more than him.
-
So much for the Gordon Beckham coming out party....I'll leave it at that. Like I said whether they want to say it or not, these games have a playoff like intensity to them.
-
Was the infield in for Beckham? They needed to have the contact play there and at least have Getz get in a rundown so Beckham could get to second with the pitcher coming to bat.
-
Getz has been hitting the ball hard for about two weeks now. I'd say since the big hit to right in K.C. My only complaint thus far is that Danks was a tad wild and the Sox are not taking any pitches and while that usually does them in, it has worked very well today.
-
Danks outpitched Verlander to no avail last week. Let's hope he does the same today. I hate these games with a passion. They feel like playoff games.

Pen is rested for this series. With the reds line-up and two extra days rest as well as being off next Monday, every pen pitcher can go in this series.
