QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 11:28 AM) I can't believe people are so blind as to what will happen. CQ returns on 6/10, and Wise is likely DFA'd (even though it could end up being Betemit). Pods will become our starting CF, and Anderson will be our 4th outfielder. He'll play for CQ when he's hurt and give Pods a break once a week. I am hoping the last three days were Wise last horrah. The sad thing is that Anderson goes back to 4th outfielder and never really gets the consistent string of AB's while Quentin was out.

Lou Pinella seems to be losing this team and either he doesn't care or the players do not. Their bullpen consists of 1.5 guys and I am not sure Marmol is even a 1. Their starters are covering a good portion of this by going deep into games but the offense is not making it easy. If Milt is out, they are in serious trouble.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 10:16 PM) Viciedo missed a popup to begin the bottom of the 10th. Man on 2nd, nobody out. He'll fit right in.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 09:51 PM) Ozzie says Pods was trying to steal 3rd. I understand and later in the game that is fine but you need to get a feel for the game there. Pods should not be stealing as he serves no purpose now other than to get himself hurt. He is not a good basestealer anymore.

The thing that irritated me for this game was that through two innings the guy was at about 60 pitches yet he breezes. This was a loss no big deal but the approach changed midway through the game is what really pisses me off. The AJ and Nix AB's early and Pods getting picked off blow my mind. Where the f*** is Pods going..... Why do they f***ing insist on manufacturing runs when they are scoring. The Pittsburgh game they blew is the epitome of stupid.

QUOTE (kane0730 @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) Over/Under on Betemit's error total: 1.5 Him and Joey Cora were working down in Florida.......oh wait.......I'll gladly take the opportunity to potentially see the over here as oppossed to the 91 MPH blown right past a guy all night long. I hope lefties kill this guy or Anderson still has the flu......maybe weezy can turn a nice catch into a highlite reel play again and get the ball past the mound. One can dream can't he?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 10:16 AM) What if instead of going after a pitcher, KW is trying to acquire a dynamic young outfielder, and will go after Pence with a package of Poreda, Flowers, etc? I said that in the Oswalt thread, page 3. This is an easy way to rebuild a farm system and is a guy KW as been looking for, for years.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 09:53 PM) I'd like to see: Getz 2B Beckham 3B Thome DH Dye RF Konerko 1B Ramirez CF Pierzynski C Fields LF Nix SS What do Beckham, Nix and Fields out of position give you that Anderson does not? -

There is no Pods / Anderson platoon nor should there be as there is nobody to leadoff. Pods makes a pitcher think a little out there. Nobody else on the Sox can do that. Hawk is all giddy beyond belief. -

Giambi looks at good pitches and looked at two pitches that should have been strikes and then does an AJ. Floyd should have had two shutouts in a row as he lost concentration in teh Angels agame and Ramirez needed to make the play in the 1st. Not liking using Linebrink today. -

That 2-1 pitch to Pods was a terrible call. Silly Lilly would've been tossed. I'd like to see Carrasco here.....not sure why.....I just think he could have success against the guys coming up this inning. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 09:29 PM) It's amazing, as he easily has nearly all of our clutch homers late in the game since last September. With that said, I still stand by my statement that he wasn't clutch prior to the walkoff against Anaheim. You are 100% correct. Sucks he is going to sit in the NL parks but hopefully it helps a little. Last week I commented that this team had not come back against a bullpen since opening day. While yesterday was a comeback against a starter, the last three games are what they need to do. I can't watch Dwayne Wise. He Jim Edmonds' that web gem. AJ is so much better when he stays on the ball which he did not do when he homered or K'd on the chin high heat. Fields needs a good AB or Beckham may get to play the next 10 home games. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) Yep, BA being platooned Did it appear that Wise took a bad route to the ball that DeJesus hit for the double. Stone said he had no chance but it looked like he went the wrong way and got turned around. -
QUOTE (YASNY @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) Unless there has been a change I haven't heard about, the DH rule is solely affected by the home stadium. NL rules in NL stadiums, etc .... I wouldn't mind when they bring back Quentin, they DL Thome from 6/12 through the Dodgers series to give him a nice rest and added flexability for the NL parks. While his pinch hitting would be nice. Betemit as a switch hitter were be better served in this role as in a big situation they would bring in a left handed pitcher for Thome anyway. I understand Thome is doing great right now, but just a thought.

As Olivo did over the weekend and Frank Thomas has on on multiple occassions, I bet OC has as series greater than this numbers coming in. -

He should catch Gavin Floyd every time he pitches as well as the day game after a night game. -

I have no problem tipping the ole cap to Zack at this point in time. 4-1 thus far on the road trip is great. Last night was one of the best games I have see all season from them. A loss today I am fine with. -
Cruz was at 95 so I think the gun was right.

I thought Whisler topped out at 90? Broadway will get a shot at starting I would think and as jason pointed out a week or so ago he may find success somewhere else. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2009 -> 10:24 PM) I was obviously talking about closers. Watch this weekend.
