The White Sox need a back-up catcher that can throw runners out. The only guy that has thrown anyone out is Miller. The others are like a combined 0 for 8. Teams are really going to take advantage of this.

Mr Angelo, please trade for Jay Cutler!
Harry Chappas replied to ozzfest's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I heard yesterday that the Lions are thinking of offering the Number 1 pick for him. Essentially Stafford for Cutler..... With the money that first round picks are guaranteed every year I would trade it every time unless there was a real need when my pick came up. -
I hope Pat Quinn gets the call. He is a more true fan than both Daley and Obama.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 08:24 AM) OK, I corrected Carrasco's numbers, and added Roy Williams, so here is the new list: Egbert (6 games): 11 IP, 1.64 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 10/3 K/BB Carrasco (7 games): 10 IP, 5.40 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, 8/3 K/BB Poreda (3 games): 9 IP, 2.00 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, 6/1 K/BB Marquez (3 games): 8.1 IP, 4.32 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 7/2 K/BB Williams (8 games): 8 IP, 0.00 ERA, 0.50 WHIP, 5/2 K/BB Broadway (5 games): 7.2 IP, 5.87 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, 7/5 K/BB MacDougal (7 games): 7 IP, 3.86 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, 11/5 K/BB Russell (6 games): 6.1 IP, 11.37 ERA, 1.89 WHIP, 7/3 K/BB German (6 games): 6 IP, 6.00 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 4/1 K/BB Wassermann (6 games): 5 IP, 7.20 ERA, 1.80 WHIP, 5/1 K/BB Though I doubt that Williams is under serious consideration. He hasn't seen the majors since 2005, has a career ERA of 6.68, and was signed to a minor league deal. But he is left handed which the Sox only have one of for sure. I think they take a flyer on him and hope for a career year type of thing. Richard and Poreda can be sent down to start.

This team will NOT lose with Brian Anderson hitting 8th and playing CF 162 games this year. This team WILL lose with Owens/Wise batting lead-off for 100+ games this year. The Sox are looking to fill a need as a lead off hitter with Wise and Owens something Anderson can not do that is the only reason they are around and the sooner they are gone the better. Brian Anderson si the all around better baseball player than the other two who actually has some potential.

Wow the Sox best pitcher gets roasted annually for liking the Cardinals....and the cubs best pticher is a Sox fan....

Padres versus White Sox ST Game

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) Lillibridge hasn't even played CF since college and even then he split time between that and SS. How can someone be considered a plus defender at a tough position that he a.) hasn't played in 4 years and b.) never played full time? Yount never played there in his life and won the gold glove the first year he played it. I made all of that up as I only hope for good things and silver linings. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 04:12 PM) we may have to take a look at Lilli in CF here. BA, Wise and Owens all suck. Yep. Anderson is actually playing his way to AAA. Wise has almost assuredly made the team as will Getz and Nix. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 10:12 AM) Why would someone boo Brian Campbell? His stats are a hair BETTER than they were last year, and our PP is a thousand times better than it has been in well over a decade... The people booing are f***ing idiots. With the money he is making he should be much better defensman. Also Cam Barker has 4 more power play points in thirteen less games. While both have really bad comparative +/- numbers to the rest of the D group. -

What or who exactly is Boras advising him with........finding helpful "cousins". The father really should have left that out of the conversation. -
Was it stated anywhere how many of all home runs are just enough or lucky? Ernie Banks home run total would be very different if he played for the Dodgers. If Mike Schmidt played for the cubs he would have had 700 for his careeer.

I joined this board to berate KW and the rumor on the board was that he would be fired per some inside sources very soon. I gotta admit I am glad he is the GM and he is one of the better if not best in baseball. This team is a great position both fiscally as well as talent wise. He and Guillen are really good at what they do but their flaws seem to be more publicized than their success.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 12:12 PM) I don't know about that. How many of us still refer to the Aon Center as the Standard Oil Building? I never hear that. I knew of it as Amaco but always got it confused and called it Prudential Tower. This was after I was told that it was not the John Hancock Building which I thought it was until I was like 24 years old.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 11, 2009 -> 01:00 AM) Cubano posted a few pages back. They have heavy, heavy security on them. They aren't allowed to do anything, like leave the hotel. What keeps the RF from running over the wall and refusing to return? I am not being ignorant here but while on foreign soil can't they simply walk away? Cuban security can not illiegally detain someone against their will in the U.S. Now, wheather the U.S. will let them stay is another story.

QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 12:44 PM) So... if the new owners of the Padres are really smart... should they should dump Jake Peavy now, guarantee themselves last place in MLB, and save a little coin in the process, so they can afford to sign the local wonderboy? Isn't Washington guaranteed the #1 pick until they actaully sign someone. Could they not take this guy every year..... -

Charter Schools are BS. Why isn't every school run like a charter school? I think vouchers are the way to go as then parents can elect where to send their child and voice displeasure with a school by essentially holding back funding. In urban areas this would cause the parentsto be more involved in their local school board which will never happen. Oh and teachers union destroy any conversation on improving the system. -
If this team stays healthy they win the division. They are the only team you can say that about.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 11:44 AM) That freight and Amtrak traffic is why they are, seperately, also discussing moving the SWS and some other line (I don't know which) over to that RI line for that stretch. Heritage Corridor? Also I would doubt that these will be express trains and the suburban people may have long train rides if they hit all of the local stops. DeLaSalle and IIT are better served by this as does the whole Bronzeville neighborhood. This is not just a White Sox stop which I see being a politcally charged debate. -
QUOTE (lvjeremylv @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 05:47 AM) For 3 relievers on the same team? Every season? All the time? Please provide a specific example to support that statement. Tampa Bay last year.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) How did Australia beat Mexico by 10 runs? That's a big surprise...not quite like the Netherlands over DR, but close. Don't know much about Randy Williams...I think he's pitched twice this spring and hasn't given up a run yet, lefty, non-roster invitee, will undoubtedly end up in Charlotte as roster filler. Not if they are looking to extend Richard at AAA.
