  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) That poll wasnt based purely on "who is the best player". It was more of a who would you want to build a team around. I voted for Hanley but Grady would absolutely be in the discussion. Also, his power numbers (HR/RBI) could and would be a lot better if the Indians hadnt been using him as a leadoff hitter. And you cant keep bringing up the fact that he isnt in Pujols' league, because no one other than 1 or 2 exceptions are in his league. Pujols league of 1 is due to the fact that he does not strike out. In my mind, to be a truly great hitter you shouldn't strike out almost once a game.
  2. QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) Jose Contreras left the team after his session this morning to go to Florida and be sworn in as a US citizen on Wednesday. He'll be back with the team on Thursday. Sox pitchers have the 2nd most strikeouts of all MLB teams in spring training so far. I thought the Jose thing was bad news about his throwing session. Thank the Aussies for the K rate....are those stats in there?
  3. We at least cut ties with the s*** involved with that trade. The baby bears are still trying to sell their end of it. Oh and the Dustin, Cliff and Cotts on steroids takes this thread to a whole new level of stupid. I find myself confusing them with Eric Gagne all of the time, as all four should be out of baseball. I like the Sox guys though.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) I'm judging it based on what I see in his approach. He is a better hitter than players we've had on our roster. Andy Gonzalez will meet you outside your work to fight this afternoon. Anyone hear the lovefest on the SCORE this morning. It was pretty cubesque...not that I am complaining.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) Exhibit A for why it's not a bad thing to lose a lot of games once your season is over, from a competitive standpoint. 2007 could be great season in White Sox history as it caused them to make some changes.....the grindy love fest ended for Pods and Erstad. If Pods had a decent year that year both Quintin and Beckman may not be here as well as Ramirez. Uribe could have stayed at short and two draft picks would not have been had.......
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) Snelling has some major league time. Larson. Hughes is a good prospect with the Twins. Nice swing by Beckham. I don't what's up with Fields' baserunning this spring...that's 2 silly outs on the basepaths. Now Kroeger. Link looked much better his seond inning. Still getting hit hard?
  7. The White Sox seem to run the bases poorly and have massive defensive lapses as a weakness every year.
  8. Kroeger is going to make this interesting as he can play first.
  9. Nobody on that roster is ever safe......NOBODY........EVER!!!!!!
  10. I got a little ticked at the ending of yesterday's game when Len remarked that the Sox barly pulled it out. As oppoossed tothe seeing eye singles and error that even allowedthe cub to score. Come on. It also seemed that Len and Bob didn't really have much to say about the Sox while Stone and DJ seemd ot cover both teams. Gotta tell ya I like DJ on the radio.
  11. This thread is getting almost as good as those folks that are Bulls fans that wouldn't trade Deng, Gordon or Tyrus Thomas because they are going to be good one of these days. It is a lot easier to replace Forte and a 2nd round pick than it is to get an above average quarterback.
  12. You trade for Moore and send Wiz to Rockford where his salary doesn't count. The Hawks are becoming a cash cow. What are the ramifications of going over the salary cap in hockey?
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 12:16 PM) Looks like Life on Mars has been cancelled. Didn't watch it, but i feel for those who did. I always see the first five minutes after Lost and it looks good but I never continued the recording.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 12:38 PM) I'll be honest, when I made this poll, I almost forgot about Desmond. I would have never thought he would be the second most popular guy here. It is the cool accent brother.
  15. Kramer Fonzie and the original AL Sipowitz (spelling drawing a blank) the character that took police drama from Columbo to Ths Shield Larry Sanders, Hank and Artie Thomas Magnum and Johnathan Quail Higgins Red (70's show) Henry Blake/Hawkeye/Trapper also Gonzo both the Muppet drummer and doctor from Trapper John M.D. Quincy the original CSI idea The original Charlie's Angels and Bosley (David Doyle) not to confused with the Mr. Cunningham (Tom Bosley) Mel Sharpells I love chili because of him Big bird and Shuffaloof**us (complete guess on spelling) Benjamin Linus
  16. Funny that my favorites change almost each season. Season 1 Jack Season 2 Mr. Ecko Season 3 Sayid Season 4 Ben Season 5 Ben and Locke Ben somehow makes the show seem real, I can not explain it. Also I hate Hurley.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 09:24 AM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-sox02.article Hey thanks for posting these I am too lazy to go anywhere other than this site for Sox news.
  18. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) The reason i bring this up is most people here doubt Owens can be more than a slap singles hitter. From what I can see the organization has done well with leadoff hitters that dont hit doubles. If JO can do even a little worse than that storied end of 0607 stretch.... i think he could be at least passable and enough for a winning team. Owens has no power at all. To make up for this he needs a good average (>.300), OBP (>.360) and have a stolen base success rate of > 80%. His problem is that with no power pitchers can challenge him and go right at him. They can pitch him inside and not worry about leaving the ball over the plate because there is nothing that he is going to do to hurt them, hench the weak grounders. Joe Crede struggled with a good slider, as do many MLB hitters. The problem for a pitcher is if you hang that slider Joe can crush it......or pop out on the infield,,,but I digress....with Owens, a pitcher can live with making a mistake because he is unable to make them pay. Alphonso Soriano can not hit good pitching but he makes his money pounding mistakes and destroying bad pitching.
  19. Getting Cutler makes sense.......therefore it is guaranteed to not happen. QB's make WR's better....WR's really can't do much for a QB if the QB sucks.
  20. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 12:48 PM) MLB Network is great MLB Network studio stuff is so much better than ESPN.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) Seriously? Man that changeup was murder on people when he had it working. Good thing he ditched the curveball then and not the change.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 07:04 AM) So how the heck does that make sense for the Sox? Viciedo gets blocked. The Sox add payroll. What the heck happens with Cabrera? I don't buy this stuff for a second. I get the feeling Viciedo is not in their plans at third.
  23. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 04:03 PM) Beckham steals 2nd. I want Beckham instead of Getz. Too bad it won't happen. Is it safe to assume that in 2010, 2B is pretty much cemented to Beckham and these guys playing the position this year won't even get a sniff next year? Which leaves a pain in my stomach that we passed on one year of Hudson
