Swisher quite the DP machine. Not sure him hitting with runners on base is a good thing. Although it could be the rest of this team's approach wearing off on him. -

It simply amazes me that nobody goes the other way on this team and when they do they are praised for it. F-8 Anderson is such better of any other OF on this team. -

K CQ not really good here that pitch should have been hit hard. Crede pops out on whole 1 pitch if you're swing first pitch you better hit it hard. This game is looking.......well I have nothing good to say. -

The defensive positioning in this series is confusing. Actually the infield positioning has been odd all season. K on Kubel. ok I guess Let's work this guy a little. -

Dye with a nifty pop up to second. Was the balk legit on the radio they are making it sound like B.S. Should Cabrera have caught that? -
Would A Change at the Top Benefit the White Sox

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 11:52 AM) Even if you feel that way you should at least trade them for what there value is and right now you could trade Josh Fields and swap him with another teams top prospect (or at least there is a good chance of being able to do such). Broadway maybe doesn't have as much value. Now I'm not saying you could trade Fields for a top 10 prospect, but you could have him as a centerpiece in a deal that nets you a pretty damn good everyday player that is still young. If they could get a younger High OBP lead-off guy for middle infield that would be fine but I think they need to do something at the top of the order before losing becomes the norm ala last year. Swisher has stopped doing what he was doing earlier in the season and the offense has resorted to the post ASB 2006 team again. The rotation can not carry this team nor should that $7-15M a year hitters need to do their job. -

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) Franchising changing trade, and for the worse. Ouch. Terrible deal. Only if you feel that Fields and Broadway will play up to their ceiling which I feel is their highest right now and neither will be anythign more than average players at best. What exactly about this offense leads you to believe that they are not a reincarnation of the last two years. I pointed out in the game thread that 20% of the games played this year the offense did absolutely nothing (in an embarrassing sense) in regard to offensive prodution and they had no chance to not only win the game but barely scored and none of the pitchers were above average. -

I'd have liked to see Ozuna try and use his speed on the turf today and bat lead-off. -

I think the Sox should trade Fields and Broadway for Roberts and suck up the cash and work a deal with Crede. Then move Quintin to the two spot and bat Cabrerra 9th until he shows he is the hitter he has been and hit Swisher 3rd. The inconsistency of the middle of this order has been there for two years and I am not certain it will magically reappear. There are way to many at-bats simply given away every night by many hitters in the line-up. -

So if Konerko is out for today who is in CF? My bet Ramirez and he losses at lest two balls in the roof. The two day vacation should be in effect for a couple of guys. If Konerko was not out I'd have liked to see Swisher get the day off and put Quintin at the #1 or #2 spot. He really needs to be higher in the order and Swisher needs a day off or something. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 10:42 PM) Nice win for the Brewers. That home plate umpire was sensational. Don't take this the wrong way as I beleive you and I are identical in our Sox / cub fandom but I find it funny that you only post positive things for the cub and hardly ever anything positive when the lose. They have dropepd 3 of 4 and their offense was shut down on 2 occassions by the Nats. The only reason they have any hope at all is becasue of Zambrano and their line-up 3-5 are really good right now. Soriano is quickly becoming a shell of his former self as they are killing his legs in the OF and Ramirez is good for at least one trip to the DL. Ramirez and Lee could be the best 3/4 in baseball and they are by far the best 1B/3B combo. Outside of Big Z and Marmol that pitching staff is shaky and their team down the middle of the field is below average. Reed Johnson is nice but he is not an answer in CF.
-
The problem isn't losing it is the way the offense simply disappears and not only gives away at-bats but they give away entire games. There have been 5 games this year where they had no chance at all of winning the game and the pitchers were not that good. Tonight Oakland Monday game Detroit bullpen game Sonnenstine 1st game Saturday No chance at all in any of those games. The lack of situational hitting has cost another 3 or 4 games (ie. yesterday). This rotation is getting absolutely f***ed right now. This team should have maybe 7 losses right now tops. When the schedule gets tough they better not b**** because pissing away these games will haunt them....or maybe they just are not that good.
-
That was f***ing pathetic by Knoerko. and just as bad by Dye. This offense can not stay this bad it has to get better, it just has to. Sickening.

QUOTE (Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 06:57 PM) I know he is a hall of famer and all that other bulls***, but why can't he at least try to beat the shift and go oppo. Ted Williams was never above choking up and going the other way. So why the hell can't Thome? I agree. It wouldn't kill him once in a while especially if he is struggling.
-
This game is about to get out of hand with twin small ball and Gavin's wildness.
-
Thome working the count there. This is another pathetic looking game here. I am not seeing that fire that is suppossed to be fueling this team. If not for starting pitching that will not hold on at this clip, this team will have no chance.
