Contreras vs. Robertson (BORING!)
Harry Chappas replied to TitoMB345's topic in 2008 Season in Review
Great call on the friggin Clete Thomas killing the Sox. On the radio they said Swisher can not hit Robertson nor does he pick up the ball well at Comerica. Why is Ozuna not starting and Anderson in center? The Uribe error caused Contreras to throw an extra innings worth of pitches. The one unearned run is not the only thing. I will say it again, defense is an afterthought with this organization. -
At $37M Thome-Konerko-Dye need to do something more than once a series. If the Sox are not putting pressure on teams this is where the problem will lie not with Crede, Uribe or Ramirez. Anderson needs to play. Both games were lost in my mind becasue of defense (Cabrerra in the first game and Dye in the second) these are nice plays that should be made nothing that will make a highlight reel. Sure Buerhle should be able to minimize the damage but the more pitches you are forced to throw, the more likely it is that you will give up hits especially Buerhle. Vazquez was sailing and would have gotten through 5 innings easily if not for the Dye miscue.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 01:14 PM) The 9th inning = Bobby Jenks. If Bobby loses a game, I can live with that. I know what Bobby's going to bring me, and there won't be many games where I have to worry about him. I don't know yet what our rebuilt bullpen is going to give me. When was the last time Jenks pitched. Not making excuses but I agrre with Balta 100%. The Sox defense (Cabrerra and Dye yesterday) has realistically cost them a shot at winning both games thus far. They need to capitalize here. Third inning with two on and have nothign to show thus far. -

If Uribe and Crede play defense they will not be the reason this team losses. This team will lose because Thome, Konerko and Dye do not earn their $37M. Dye cost Danks the win by the way. Michaels misplayed the ball. Anderson sighting. 1st and 2nd, 1 out Here is where Thome needs to do something. -

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 12:37 PM) I think Garko is going to go deep today. If your team can not hit they they have to play defense. The biggest piece of BS sold by Williams and Guillen is that they are focusing on speed and defense. Dye or Konerko should have been pulled in the last inning for speed and defense. They were not and this ballgame is Ova. Guillen is not making any moves as a manager now a days to help this team. -

So AJ is the hottest hitter. He bunts..... If you are going to do that, run for Konerko put Swisher at first and put Anderson in to run and play center. I hope AJ bunted on his own. Quintin fitting in nicely. This team deserves to lose. -

If the wind wasn't blowing out Monday, there could be some really negative thoughts going around about Thome. If Fields had a better OBP and played average defense his K's would be acceptable. -

Crede is a pure guess hitter. If he gets a pitch and guesses right he gets a hit. Uribe is the same thing. Did the 3B Umpire blow the strike call? Ok Danks you got your run. -

Dye and Konerko hit the ball hard. Stone called the AJ hit. Unfortunately it will be wasted unless Quintin goes deep. -

OK, walking Garko is not bad as he got out of it...... Here comes a nice 7 pitch inning with three groundouts to short and third....pulling a good sinker and upcutting at the ball is not the answer. -

Farmer made it sound like a lazy fly ball and then had Swisher crashing inot the wall...... -

The Cleveland bullpen is not that strong in my mind and you need to work their starters to get to it. Ah, first walk of the day and thus it begins. -

QUOTE(scenario @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 09:58 AM) I like the dumb titles. Sort of like the clever sayings on the Heinz Ketchup bottles. I don't think they are funny or clever but whatever. Maybe I'll start putting them together. I'll show you clever and funny. "It's not fun, it's not funny." -

QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 09:17 AM) no more dumb titles please? I agree. I also think AJ starts and hope Ramirez starts at 2B. Somehow I think we get the same lineup as yesterday. -

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:16 PM) who predicted 7-1? I did. I also predicted the starting 9 at about 9:30 this morning. The predictability of this team is just sad. The Ramirez throw will keep him out there until May or Owens returns. -

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) Ahead in the count 1-2 and walks him without throwing anything close. Well two innings of Mike McDougal could be 7-1 in a hurry. Mike's WHIP is only 5.00 nice job kid, get 'em 1-2-3 in the 7th. This is sad really. -

McDougal has to pitch the 6th and 7th and then catch a bus to wherever Wasserman is.
