Cintron sucks.

2 strike bunt, nice job. F it walk Casey to set up the DP.

I think Wasserman will serve a purpose for next year as the motion and control get you. Remember Bradford in October of 2000. He looked like Wasserman then and Jerry put way to much faith in him at the wrong time...oh memory lane. Let Wasserman pitch until the league figures him out. We should have swept this series. Oh Timo.

Did Guillen, Ozzie punch Walkvich after facing his one batter?

Gameday has an injury delay at the start of the cub any idea what that is about. Jason Marquis is not a good pitcher yet teams can not hit him consistently and he has a perfect game going. Anywho, the offense for the White Sox is pathetic, like that's news but I agree that any arms that may be on this team next season and are on the 40 man should be up here now. Guys like Masset and Sisco know they sucked and the promotion has nothing to do with them be awarded anything. This sounds a little like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Garland, Buerhle, and Vazquez should be shut down. Konerko, Thome and AJ should play every other day or against teams still in it. Jenks should also be shut down although he needs some stat padding. They need to find out who can do what because the judgement calls they make as an organization are not that good.

Who would you like to see fired the most?
Harry Chappas replied to striker's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The fundamentals area has done more to attract younger fans than anything INCLUDING WINNING THE WORLD SERIES. I am a pretty sentimental person but to compare 2007 Comiskey Park to 1994 is as disillusional as possible. Although I think Wrigley is a dump and terrible place to watch a game for over 75% of the fans so what do I know. -
QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Sep 1, 2007 -> 12:15 PM) I don't know if I was the only one to catch it, but after the no no was broken up one of the commentators said "I never liked him anyway". My wife said she heard the same thing. I did not notice but I was only half paying attention. Was Baker part of the Nomar deal? If not , who did the cub give up to Minnesota?
-
If this team was trying to win now Erstad and Podsednik would play every day and Fields would be at third, Iguchi at second and Mackowiak on the bench. The fact that this not happening shows this is a try out for next year. Why Guillen is ranting about it is the question. Who cares the season is over what the f*** is the point of b****ing and moaning about it?
-
The have him for this and next year. Sounds like they have to pick up his option.

QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 07:20 PM) I promise I will do my best. I will craft a letter to Alan Regier for starters and perhaps Dave Wilder and possibly they can refer me to Mr. Amaro who runs things in the Dominican. Yes I think it would be great info for the people who post here. Your not the guy that talked about Hawaii I forget his name and that he and Reinsdorf were buds and that he was the only person other than Reinsdorf and Thomas who knew what the diminished skills clause were are you?

Rogers: Basically, Ozzie is trying to get fired on purpose...
Harry Chappas replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 09:01 AM) Well, it can't be both ways. First, we have too many expensive players (Konerko, Thome, Dye, Buehrle, Garland, Contreras, Vazquez) and now we're too cheap? I guess we will get on KW for painting us into a corner with the lack of payroll flexibility, and the fact that the contract for Contreras will be almost impossible to get off the books over the next two seasons, barring a miraculous turnaround. I don't even think that most of the issue with first rounders is KW's doing, it's more of a JR-philosophical thing. The fact is, there are only about 6-8 teams in MLB that are currently what you would call free spenders...unfortunately, the Tigers are one of them...and the Indians SEEMINGLY are set up for a nice run the next 2-3 seasons as well...Minnesota will always be in the mix with Ryan as GM, and the Royals are looking better and better, not to mention Moustakas COULD be a stud to go along with Gordon. I disagree with the AL Central outlook. I am not sold on the Indians at all. They have some nice pieces but they have holes, they also do not shell out cash. The Tigers are getting as old as the White Sox and although they are spending, I think they will slip a little next year. The White Sox are almost forced into a position that they need to make moves and big one's. I am not sure what that means but minor league pitching for positional players ala the Indians last season will be the M.O. and having pitching in the minors in this day and age is much better than positional players and I think this is the stength that Sox fans miss. The back end of the pen, core rotation and run producers are there, they need to fill in the pieces. Why Thome, Konerko, Buerhle and Garland are still hanging around is beyond me they should be kicking back for next season. Our September rotation should be Floyd, Haegar, Masset, Sisco and one anyone else that needs to be on the 40 man. -
Official Hate for the Milwaukee Brewers Thread
Harry Chappas replied to fathom's topic in The Diamond Club
Ned Yost is choking more than anyone. He should have gotten himself tossed in the 7th or 9th as the strike zone sucked. Braun swung at ball 1 and ball 2. My assumption on Jenkins in the 9th was Eyre may have come in. Ned Yost is really bad at managing when it counts. If Sheets is healthy next year the Brewer rotation will be really good. -
Official Hate for the Milwaukee Brewers Thread
Harry Chappas replied to fathom's topic in The Diamond Club
Through 3, 3-3 game of the 18 outs, 9 K's and 9 Fly Balls / Pop Outs. Lilly at 80 pitches which is good for the cubs because the Brewers can not hit anyone in their pen. Lilly 5 K's through three. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) Any time the Cardinals offense wants to wake up again, that would be fine with me. Facing a guy like Albers is a game they have to win after getting shut down by Oswalt. I think if StL get out of the 8th they will win.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 12:13 PM) Cox deserves plenty of credit. As to the rest? Schuerholz says that he doesn't think people who rip his organization for not winning the Series understand the game of baseball or the history of the Streak. And by the way, the Braves have been to more series in Schuerholz tenure than the White Sox in all their history. What does that mean? A variety of things. Most important of which is to ask, What, exactly, are you trying to say? when you say "Atlanta = Rings = Chicago." That's bulls*** and it's silly. I am trying ot stay that Atlanta isn't THE MODEL organization. They could be one of them but you need to win more than once. I personally like how Flordia did it. The thing with using the term organization though is to try and decipher what that means. A GM, manager, scounting and owner. The change in ownership has hamstrung the Royals and Cardinals and now may be doing the same to the Braves. I would also argue that the Indians if they make the playoffs could be better than all of them as they have rebuilt their orgnaization because ownership made them. Has any team produced more impact players then they have over the last 12 years? My rings theory was to point out that there are many different things that impact winning and making the playoffs. There is no doubt that orgnaizationally speaking the Braves are beetter than the White Sox but they also had some things go really right for them after being really really bad for many years (ie Doyle Alexander and Ted Turner's pocketbook). I grew up idolizing Dale Murphy, Bob Horner and Bedrock by the way.

F' that what was the White Sox record last year when Chris Widger was released......... What was their winning percentage during his tenure with the White Sox.......
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) Not a model, the model. And once again, you've missed the point, but that's okay. Once again you are trying to prove a point without bringing up an important piece of the puzzle , Bobby Cox. What organization did John Shurholtz help turn around like Cox did with Toronto and now the Braves. The Royals experience taught him how to do things the right way but you need managers that can blend that talent and realize they are not GM's. I also think St. Louis prior to the ownership change was the model organization. There were a-lot of things that went right for the Braves in the 90's but the fact of the matter is, the Braves and White Sox have he same amount of World Series wins over his tenue. The fact that they may miss the playoffs in a pathetic NL kind of tarnishes the organizational reloading theory a bit to me. Also the difference with the cub chatter and Brave chatter is that many people on this board are affected negatively on a daily basis as a result of the cub success and this year it is more irritating than usual because they and the Sox suck.

Sign Rowand and resign Pods and Erstad move Ozuna to short and lead-off put Fields in left and Crede at third and go from there. Ozuna Fields Thome Konerko AJ Rowand Dye Crede Richar Bench Pods, Erstad, Hall, Utility IF, RH bat My assumption being that Ozuna was a pretty good SS prospect coming up through the Cardinal organization if I am wrong, whoops. This allows some cash for the pen and a healthy Crede.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 12:02 PM) Interesting story today: Houston fired their GM and manager. After not getting the NL in '04 and losing the WS in '05 and last year, the owner had had enough. When will our owner have had enough? When his GM spends $100M on a player not worth it and trades for a pitcher that does nothing and has an organization resting nicely out of one of the easist divisions to win in baseball histoty. You can not compare the Houston situation to the Sox at all. The Cincinnati Reds are in the race to a degree because of the schedule, Houston should be as well and with how their bullpen is working now they should be walking away with this division. Although I think the Sox should be over .500 they were probably the fourth best team in that division. The Tigers have a good team now becasue they sucked for so long. If the Sox get a Justin Verlander or Joe Mauer next June this season will be a success for me and better than going 84-78. Now if Erstad and Pods are batting 1 & 2 next year and they draft a player based on signability, you will have an argument.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 12:06 AM) I did pull a Mariotti there. Him botching that pop up the other day concerned me I guess. I just can see where the poster is coming from. I like Thome but the LOVE for Thome sort of amazes me. And he's injury prone big time at this stage of his career. I think it's time to move on. Thome you have to admit is going to miss more and more games via injury as he continues to age. Anyone remember the fly ball to left that Aaron Rowand had to catch in straight away left field on a late, sunny Sunday afternoon in August because the left fielder could not see it? Not making excuses but the verdict can not even be addressed as to the abiltiy of Fields in left. I find it funny that Gonzalez can adjust nicely to the OF but Ozuna looks scary out there. I think with his speed and arm he could turn into an asset out there. A bad defensive left fielder is fine if you have a good centerfielder. I believe the centerfielder will be Rowand

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) I sure as hell hope not, believe it or not but bullpens -- especially those as terrible as the White Sox's -- often blow leads. You don't take one of your best hitters out of the lineup in the top of the 8th because he's inexperienced defensively. So is Fields a terrible defensive LF now? I didn't realize such judgments could be made after only 2 games. I have never seen him play the position. I assume he won't be a GG player by next April out there. I am not sure why more guys are not pulled in the 9th when their team is winning for better defensive players. This is nothing against Fields. Jeff Torborg would make such switches in the 6th and 7th innning.

Great now I have to remember to start a game thread tomorrow. Damn archieves.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 03:21 PM) Assuming he's going to be playing LF every day next season, it would be nice for him to get some experience playing the position in close and late situations. What's the downside to leaving him out there? If he is the leftfielder next season, he will be pulled if winning in close/late situations. Fields is a better hitter than Joe Crede right now in my opinion. Although I have not been watching as intently as if they were in it but he seems to not hit the right side of the infield pop up as often. Granted he is in a spot in the order to produce but I just think he will only get better and cut down on the strikeouts.

Within that time span the Olympics will expand to include major league players at which time Chris will forgo baseball, compete in track and win more medals that Mark Spitz. My original post should have been in green BTW.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 01:12 PM) 2 k's and a pop out for Contreras in the first. Maybe he'll find his form the last 5 weeks. or not. Why does this guy insist on throwing side arm?
