Is this the worst year in your Soxfandom?
Harry Chappas replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This team was not a playoff contendor and I'd rather have a high draft pick then pretend they are good. I believe the silver lining is that this season was a wake up call to the organization. They will have a top tier payroll next season and will address the problems. The late 80's teams really sucked and turned it around very quickly. This season sucks but it happens. The 2003 team was in my mind the best in baseball and they fell short. That would still haunt me if not for 2005. We are bad this year, now let's move on hope we get a kick ass prospect and change some things. This is season is no worse I'd say then the perennial 2nd place teams of the late 90's. -

I think the Brewers take 2 of 3 and the Cardinals sweep whomever they play and the NL Central becomes quite a race. -
I thought the bench called most of the game.

According to Fields MLB spray chart all but two home runs, one down the line and the other to right center are all in about the same spot, just to the center side of left center. He has 16 homers and is hitting .246, I have trouble not really liking this kid. -

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 02:41 PM) Are you f***ing kidding me...??? White Sox fans had 14 hours notice that this game was going to be played. Half of the Red Sox fans are here for the weekend and don't have to work. The other half are Cub fans who don't work anyway. It's not like the place is filled with 20K RS fans. There's maybe 12K TOTAL fans there right now. According to Ed the place has about 100K of the 'Nation" there. The fact is Sox fans are not going to rearrange their day to get to the game at 1:00 today. The thing I find really stupid is why not play it tomorrow when the forecast is for 78 and sunny. Start at noon...oh wait they are the Fox game aren't they...... -
The weather shouldn't keep you at home the guaranteed ass kicking and listening to obnoxious Red Sox fans should.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 01:56 PM) He'll end up through 120 through 6 and Gagne, the Jap leftie and Papelbon will finish it off. How do s*** players (Alex Cora) hit OSx pitching so well? Beckett may get through seven. -

Looking like the series in Boston already our pitchers s*** all over themselves and embarass themselves. Danks may go three innings in game two -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 01:54 PM) Good. Let's wear down that bullpen in game 1. He'll end up through 120 through 6 and Gagne, the Jap leftie and Papelbon will finish it off. How do s*** players (Alex Cora) hit OSx pitching so well? -

Ed going on about Owens bad elbow. Can he throw if healthy? Anyone just get the e-mail from the Sox telling them the game will be palyed today at 1:05? Real nice at-bat by Owens there. Sorry to the half empty crowd. Nice SB on the pitch out as well. -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 01:24 PM) um... he just hit a double. But, in principle this is a good point - he needs more rest. Dye should DH a bit more, and we need more out of our backup OF's. Gamecast is wrong that was AJ. -

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 12:40 PM) Umm, I didn't compare him to Floyd at all. I was addressing Balta about how he always posts the most positive but unrealistic hypotheticals such as when he said blank or blank. But that aside, Owens will not steal 58 in a full season I don't care what total he's at now. And I don't he'll keep his current OBP forever or improve it even marginally. That's my prediction. Jerry Owens and Josn Fields began playing baseball full time after Soxtalk was open for business. Both seem to be gamers and are geting better at-bats. They along with Ricar appear to be able to be servicable major league players. None of the three seem to be overmatched based on where they should be, which is AAA. They do not need to be All-Stars. The players that are paid to be All-Stars need to be, then this team will compete. Owens is a better player than Pods now and IN MY OPINION Fields is a better hitter now than Crede. They are going to get better the more they play.

How is the clarity of your pool? I fought an algae battle after vacation but it has been reduced to a cloudy issue that I thinkis pH related.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) DAMN YOU MATT CAIN!!! His performance today rivals (and based on the fact he is going head to head with the highest paid pitcher in baseball history) tops that of Micah Ownings this game could easily be 0-0 and if he is not so stout they could be losing. Oh Well, jacque Jones will end getting a slam and bunt triple to win it for Big blue. -
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 02:13 PM) This is our annual sixty-one: the single-minded harping record. You're trying to set a record for most Cubs comments, breaking either Hangar's record or Cuck the Fubs: last year Flash tried to break the record with Liriano: SSI71 is trying to break the record with Walker but he's faltered of late: WhiteSoxFan101 is trying to crack it with Ozzie: LV wants to do it with Rowand, but he doesn't have the longevity or the total posts on it to make it: I'm trying to do it this year with Gavin Floyd and John Schuerholz. * Anyone societally involved in Chicago who is known as a White Sox fan is impacted daily by the happenings of the cubs right now. I have to admit a cub win stings a whole more than a Sox loss at this point in time. The fact that they are a mediocore team that is luckier than s*** is the worst part about it. They could easily have been swept by the Giants and I am not sure what is going to happen today but they are lucky f***s who are treated in the media like they are 40 games over. The history and media bias is what really pisses me off and why I despise them and opine on them more often any anything other than the White Sox. They are the f***ing Los Angeles Clippers yet are treated like the Yankees and Red Sox. They can not even call the Cardinals rivals yet they pretend that they are.
