QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 08:09 PM) This team deserves everything that's happening with these horrible personnel decisions. 8 minor leaguers on a 100 million dollar payroll team is pathetic. Masset bringing it with that 92 mph heater. The problem is that the guys they bring up are clones of the clowns they current call veterans. Owens gets a 2-0 pitch and hits a six hopper to short. These guys have no concept ofthe strike and howe to be a smart hitter, this has to be a philosophy in the minors and looks really bad whe na player is struggling. Uribe is trying ot pop out to every corner infielder.

What happened to Owens? I thought Terraro dropped the ball......... If it was Gonzalez, I gotta admit, I kind of like Terraro. His OBP is incredible, for this team.

Where KW is going with this team
Harry Chappas replied to caulfield12's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
This team is becoming unbearable as they are not playing hard or trying to do anything positive to the naked eye. As a season ticket holder that is not really fond of his seats and losses a decent amount of money on unused tickets, I will not be renewing. This team is quickly looking like the predicted 74 win team. Our schedule gets really hard very soon and we are looking to be really bad. -
I really want to like terraro and then he does something to fit in with the rest of these assclowns.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 06:44 PM) The way the lineup has handled Sampson thus far, even with their offensive troubles, if less than five runs are across the board I'll be shocked. Nearly every out has been crushed. They let him off the hook to settle in and realize this offense sucks. They may get three possibly four as they are not facing the Yanks or Blue Jays bullpen.

QUOTE(Pods70Rowand33 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) We drafted Oney Guillen Not since we drafted the GM's daughter have I been as pissed about a pick

This draft is out of control.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 01:42 PM) You also have to remember that last year he was young for AA. The main thing I worry about with Gio is his ability to stay healthy. I believe that Gio is at AA to inflate his stats and make him tradeable. As this season goes down the drain the guy that they need to sign is Buerhle, if not, a crappy season and the lose of Buerhle negates all of the success they have had. You see it already with the fact there have been no sell-outs this year and poor crowds for the Yankee series.

Fields and Owens are not ready for the majors at his time. The Fields at-bat in the 7th showed that he fits the mold of all White Sox hitters. Instead of hitting for contact he was trying to swing as hard as he could when he struck out. The bigger problem was letting him swing away on the first strike then changing it up to bunt on the second. These guys may be average players in the future but right now they along with the disgrace that is Alex Cintron are leaving this team with no opportunity to succeed. There are three guys in the line-up that are over matched. Cintron's defense is abysmal. I would almost rather see the cat hat hasn't played since he was called up and listed on two rosters earlier in the week.

Thome has to play first over Konerko, should he do well he can be trade bait to the NL. Think the Dodgers or Giants could use him.

A Lance Broadway clone was just taken by Oakland, let's see how he developes for them.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) What's the scouting report? Easily signable I guess. From MLB summary; Average until this year. Came out of nowhere, not very poised as he hasn't been very good. A ONE PITCH PITCHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 95-96 MPH with sink. So the yYanks get a stud young pitcher and the Sox get more AAA fodder.

Huh?

White Sox vs. Yankees, 6/6/07 (L)
Harry Chappas replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2007 Season in Review
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 05:08 PM) You mean you don't like to see the battle between Owens and Sweeney to see which player can hit the softest grounders? If Owens could get his softly hit grounders to the left side of the infield and past the pithcer, there would not be a problem. I don't know why but I think tonight will be a different game in a good way........ Call me stupid. -

Joe Crede to 15 day DL, Josh Fields called up from AAA.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) 1.) Why would they trade Michael Young just a few months after giving him a huge extension? 2.) Are you sure you want to deal for a 2B (yes he's a 2B) who's due $5M next year and then $16M per year for the next 5 seasons after that? He's also lighting the world on fire with his .269/.318/.408/.726 line. No thanks. 3.) Considering how things went the first time around I highly doubt Lofton will ever play for the Sox again. 2 answers 1. I didn't think he was making $16M though. As far as Loften goes he is a stopgap for a team that is 3 games out of the WC and possible spark. I didn't think he ended with bad blood last time. -

You assume Erstad is more hurt than reported? What kind of package would have to be put together to get Michael Young and Kenny Lofton? -
The Reason This Team is Bad, and Yes: It's Ozzie's Fault
Harry Chappas replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 09:12 AM) I think we're now at 12-13 leads blown from the 6th inning on. As Hawk said, we had the lead at one point in most of the games on that roadtrip, with the exception of the Halladay start. The only reason we have had the lead is because the starting pitching has been lights out. I do not count a lead of 3 to 1 or 4 to 2 all that great. In the American League a GOOD team should average over 5 runs a game. The White Sox have scored more than 5 runs twice in the last 13 games. The bullpen is being asked to do something that is not realistic for them. Look at the salaries of the guys failing on this team. If you want to get by with the league minimum in your pen that is fine but the players being paid to hit should hit. The money that is spent on this team is on starting pitching and home run hitters. One is doing their job most of the time the othere is failing miserably. The bullpen is magnified because every game is close and if they give up a run the offense is unable to get it back. -
Crede Out Again, Possible DL Trip (per Score)
Harry Chappas replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 12:00 PM) So Joe Crede is a liar?!? Do you have any proof on this?!? So your theory is a professional ballplayer will risk have surgery on his back for no reason just to cover up a bad two months?!? Do you think before you post or just type whatever pops in your mind?? When Glaus gets hurt he doesn't play. He's already been on the DL once this year. He missed almost the enitre 2003 and 2004 seasons. Crede's mistake has been playing thorugh the injury and not taking care of it early. My reasoning is, should two months of this season be written off to him having a bad back. If Crede has been hurt why not come out with it and go on the DL instead of looking lost at the plate? Who gained by him doing nothing for two months? He has done nothing but hurt the club since day 1 of this season if he has been hurt. If he could have sat out the two months and come back healthy whenever it would be better than what we have going right now. The problem I have with the whole scenario probably goes to this agent whose best interest could be looked at a couple of different ways. From a buisness stand point, is Joe Crede the 2006 version, the 2007 version, the 2004 version and what is the long term stand point of the organization in him. I will defer to the health professionals to determine whether back surgery was necessary or not, that is not for me speak of. What is Joe Crede to this team right now. If he has been hurt since April that is inexcusable as he has been hurting this organizationas a whole and continues to do so. -
Podsednik to start minor league rehab assignment tomorrow
Harry Chappas replied to BearSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 09:40 AM) From the Tribune, "Ozzie told me don't come back until you're ready to steal a base," Podsednik said. "I'm most valuable when I'm on base. Without my ability to steal a base, I'm pretty much useless." At least he's realistic. The problem is, he is light years ahead of Jerry Owens. Owens looks as lost as Sweeney did when he was up. There are so many other issue swith this team that the fact Owens is leading off is the least of them. -
Crede Out Again, Possible DL Trip (per Score)
Harry Chappas replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) This article sure makes it sound like Crede's back has been bothering him for longer than even the team has known about it, which strongly suggests that it's been bothering him for the entire season so far. To me, it sure sounds like his suckiness with the bat is therefore directly related to his back, once again, and just as some of us predicted it would be when he decided against the surgery. Anderson was their DH last night. The Halos seem to be moving around the DH spot between their OF's, Willits, Vlad, Anderson, etc. to keep them all in the lineup and give them a little more rest. Funny thing about saying this is that it gives a real nice excuse for a bad start. What if the start was the start and the back was fine? Easy way to explain s***ty numbers come arbitration time next year as oppossed to the fact hat Joe isn't nearly the player he and Boras thought he was. -
The White Sox are still interesting this season why????????? Starting pitchers. What is the $15M they are giving Thome worth? How about the $12M to Konerko? Alex Cintron and Rob Mackowiak are making twice as much as the entire bullpen? Buerhle and Garland are the cornerstones to this franchise and should be treated as such. I don't want journeyman pitchers and washed up relievers while Ichiro is making $13M. I may be the only person that believes this but I feel the hitting was what let the WHite Sox down last year especially in September. A consistent pitcher is worth their weight as hitting is never really consistent due to the failure rate of 60% for the best hitters. If they lose Buerhle and have to rely on Gio or Floyd, it will be a long 2008. Look at the Twins they do have two hitters better then anyone the Sox have but the rest of their line-up is simply solid guys that give good at bats. These are the guys the Sox need to go along with good starting pitchers, not slow, low OBP guys that may homer but more often than homering will strike out or pop out on the infield. KW is trying to model his team after the Braves organization. That is great but the last time I looked Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine were all given huge deals to stick around, and now Hudson was as well.

White Sox vs. Yankees, 6/4/07 (W)

The Sox had one hit in the final 4.2 innings and 14 of the last 15 were retired.
