QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) ^^, and it's something Z does more often than not. Any team would love to have him. He's a dick off the field, too. But like you said it doesn't matter. Show me production between the lines and I'm happy to send in my $$. I wish our guys had a bit more of a chip on their shoulders. Exactly this can be turned into a positive if it brings out a better effort. Guillen is the kind of guy that can get through to Zambrano.

He will sit on the bench as Mackowiak is hot and Danny Terreo is the only centerfielder on the team. Unless Owens is going ot take time from mackowiak which I guess he is going to as Ozzie needs a somewhat fast guy to lead off. Owens may be able to hit but he is Scott Podsednik and the Rob Mackowiak centerield version in the outfield. Mackowiak is finally hitting so this could be very interesting how how Ozzeroo plays with this. He should try Iguchi or mack leading off and tell them they can not swing until they have two strikes to start the game.

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 01:41 PM) The Sox HAVE to trade him. No one can tell me that a guy with his veteran and World Series track record that's just thrown a 2-hitter yesterday after a NO HITTER last month won't be a hot commodity come the trade deadline. The Sox will NEED whatever he can bring them. Even if the Sox trade him, they can still sign him at then end of the season. Proven pitching does not hit .220. What they need is consistent, versitile hitters to surround durable pitchers. Not guys hat sprain their ankle swinging at a pitch. They need to lock up Garland and Buerhle for a long time to come and stop giving hitters big money.

Who would make a play for A-Rod now?
Harry Chappas replied to caulfield12's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
The thing to do is get the Yanks a servicable pitcher via a three way deal think, Ervin Santana. The Yanks playoff staff would be Wang, Clemens, Petitte and Mussina. They need somebody to give them innings. I know Santana is struggling but get California involved in the deal and there could be somehting although I think they would more than likely want to go one-on-one with trading with the Yankees. -
White Sox vs. Blue Jays, 5/31/07 (L)

3-4-5 would've scored yesterday in the 10th though. Through 4 innings Jim Thome has seen 12 of the 43 pitches thrown to 12 batters. Baseball IQ is non-existent. At least his will be a quick death this evening. -

This team is completly lost. 1st and 3rd 1 out guy is thrown out stealing........well at least DJ and Hawk think Erstad is godlike so he's gotta be good. That is as bad as it gets. Through 3 innings Halladay has three called strikes and 5 guys have swung at the first pitch. Nice job making the guy who hasn't pitched in 3 weeks work a little. This is just stupid. -
Amazing Pods stats, Owens only answer?

For what it's worth Pods is to go for an MRI Monday and if all goes well (which is expected) begin a rehab assignment next week. -
Ozzie Throwing in the Towel... on Himself?

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 31, 2007 -> 12:25 PM) That was decided a long time ago and the results aren't positive. Come on, we all watch the same games. How can anybody think this team as is isn't average at best? Because there are players on this team that are above average, many of them. 80% of this team is underachieving. I think they ran out of gas last year......kind of like the Tigers are looking right now. You and many other people on this site need to stop looking at the last half of last season. If you are going to look at last year, look at the whole year not the second half and then the first part of this season. They won over 90 games last year. Will they this year.....who knows but the Tigers are within reach and as bad as the Sox have played they are still in it. For god sake it is May31st can they go on a run like the 06 Twins, 05 Indians, 02 Marlins, 83 Sox......I don't know but I am not going to say that because they have played average baseball over a span that is irrelevant that they are done. I will rather say this team hasn't played nearly as well as they can. Facing Halladay and Burnett will not be easy but they have to be better at wha they do and go from there. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 31, 2007 -> 11:57 AM) Sorry, meant to say 3b. You play to win the game (thanks Herman). If Jenks retires Hunter, then you have our 3-4-5 coming up, and the Twins have their bottom of the order coming up in the bottom of the inning. I see your point and understand it, I see Guillen's too. I believe neither is right nad neither is wrong. Taking the game as a whole I don't see anyone coming up for the Sox as a benefit and worthy of leaving Jenks out there to be done today. If Halladay is on a pitch count (I don't think he will be) these bozo's better make him work as his stamina should be reduced somewhat. The same thing with Clemens Monday. This series will decide if this team is good or not. A nice weekend series could do the White Sox good especially with the Tribe and Detroit playing 4. -
Ozzie Throwing in the Towel... on Himself?
Harry Chappas replied to LVSoxFan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Not to rehash the 9th inning yesterday but the fact that Nathan threw about 9 pitches in the top half of the inning and he was going to pitch the 10th and the White Sox hadn't gotten a hit in 6 plus innings lead me to believe that Guillen was being rational about the situation. If you throw Jenks for the 9th and 10th he is done for today and the chances are you have lost he and Thorton for a game today that we may have a better chance of winning. Guillen wanted to see what Aardesma could do he rolled the dice but he is rationale. The way the White Sox are hitting they most likely were not going to hit nathan yesterday. Today Jenks is ready to go if needed. I could see using him yesterday but I also could see him not using him in that situation. -
Don't team use different signals for cut, I got it, stop, go etc. to alleviate this from happening? If A-Rod knows this signal and yells it than this is kind of bush league. Defensive players can not mock snap calls in football.

The problem with the White Sox was epitomized today as I pointed out in the game thread. The inability to recognize the strike zone and make a pitcher work. Did they see more than ten pitches in one inning from the 4th through the 9th? This inability leads to the offense of the opposition feeling a little more comfortable. They do not work a count at all and let the pitcher work himself into trouble. The offense not being able to hit has caused the pressure to build on a somewhat inexperienced bullpen at pitching in pressure situations. The White Sox have not eased the pressure at all. Even when they were winning 10-1 in the 4th.....poof shut out for the last six innings against the Oakland bullpen. Same thing happened today. The White Sox have the resources to overcome a weak farm system, they just aren't using them right. The guy that shoudl be fired....Joey Cora. The fact that Logan has had greater success than Aardesma agaisnt Hunter, not knowing if Pagan was a better hitter right handed or left handed, bringing in a leftie/rightie match-up that blew up in his face (Derek Lee). These are the things that a bench coach needs to do and Cora seems like he does nothing or at least anything he does is wrong. Razor Shines will be the next Terry Bevington BTW.

7 walks in 9 innings, that's good. McDougal should throw underhand. Here comes another walk to Punto and three run blast. -

Nathan may be able to go 10 innings after throwing 5 pitches that inning. Another great play by the Twins. They simply have more heart than the White Sox. The White Sox now this and do nothing about it but take their medicine and lose to them and make excuses. -

There's the bright spot to the series Thorton pitched well. How about taking a couple of pitches before looking silly. Nathan should be in. -
