QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) Jeff Weaver is solid. Why do teams overpay for Cardinals pitchers? Dave Duncan is a god. To bad the Sox couldn't get him............ Kip Wells will get $10M a year next year and Bradon Looper $10M if they stay healthy. Weaver is making Contrearas Opening Day line look really good. I like watching the little ball on ESPN Gameday

Pac Man gone for season, Henry for 8 games

Tank should be interesting. I hope the prison term is punishment enough but in all accounts he should get a year as well then....... -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) santo is by far one of the worst broadcasters of all time. Besides his shouts during key plays, he doesnt seem to even know how to judge the game. He was b****ing about the umps the entire game today. That carried over to Comcast and the SCORE was talkign about it. Floyd was complaining that it threw him off his game as well as the Howry pitch to Everett. Ted Lilly then said that he got some calls that benefitted him. Ted will be DFA'd soon should he speak like this again.

QUOTE(U can putitontheboarrrrd...YES @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 10:00 AM) The snap judgements, speculation and assumptions of what happened, and what may happen in the future is really sad. You people have no friggin clue what happened or what the situation is, and to sit here and say "oh Mrs. Count is a *****" or "Jose may have done this..." just stop. You dont know what is going on. None of us do. This whole thread is rather ridiculous. If there was no physical harm this seems crappy. I know this will sound like a male chauvanist pig statement but he is provided for a her a life that she could only dream of. The story that I understood was that he pitched poorly when he arrived because he missed his family. Then his family got here. This may sound strange but what if she didn't want to come to America and liked Cuba? I assume she can not go back. Maybe she really misses her family and is taking it out on Jose becasue he defected without her consent or 100% backing and now she realizes it was not a good idea. The sad thing is it was a great story and now it could be a tragic story. Pretty sad also quite a contradictory post.

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) I vaguely remember this Marshall kid from last year. Strange, we had two kids in Marshall and Castro that were close to major league ready and neither of them ever made it into the hunt for the LHR spot in ST last year. Just shows you that baseball is all about scouting, at all levels. Not to mention the lefty that was traded for Riske that is the Red Sox set-up man.

Here is a great night; Wrote it off as a loss as Harden is filthy. Ran 8 miles got home enterd this thread did laundry and made lunch for tomorrow. Gonna watch the post game and try and convince the wife to celebrate a White Sox winner. I'll let you know in the morning if I am successful. Also got to watch on Extra innings as the Twins got shelled. Ya Baby. Oh and the King of Queens was new. What great f***ing night. Good Night. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) The control was the issue for me to. I just had images of Sisco-Aardsma-Masset coming in being wild, not being able to find the zone at all, and we really haven't seen it yet. We will, there is no question it will happen, but so far, all these guys have done what Ozzie has asked, and each one of them has gotten big outs for this club already. It's just very refreshing to see, and whats even better is that we know these guys are still young, and have room to improve. The thing is, they have the stuff to pitch over walks see Aardesma in the Cleveland loss. The guy that seemingly can not is Jenks. He seems to be either three up three down or gives it up. Play Ozuna and Mack over Cintron I think the elbow is screwing him up. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 10:38 PM) He was wild, but has since settled down. MMAC was awesome and the hitting is coming around. Scotty PODS has done nothing but prove alot of doubters wrong. He has been electric. Erstad even when playing terrible finds a way to make an impact, and Thome is heating up. I am warming the crow on Pods and it is great to see. If he does this than Erstad can do the off stat sheet things that help win games. I always loved McDougal and Aardesma seemed to have the make-up. -

Just got in from running (ran for 1:45 to avoid watching) and have seen nothing but this thread. I thought Contreras was getting shelled. I said earlier Pods is looking good and JD needs a day off but Guillen won't sit him until he is out of his funk. I also believe the hittin is what is going to hurt us this season more than the pitching. McDougal went two innings? Good move. -
Process servers are legal like supeonas and most likely would be allowed to enter the clubhouse. Fisk was released in the summer of 93 and showed up to the playoffs and they wouldn't let him in the clubhouse.

Rick White is now their set-up man. The National league is a f***ing disgrace.
-
Their bullpen blew another lead. Cubs scored a run without a hit as a SB and error by Biggio. Carlos Lee grounded out with the bases loaded. I gotta tell you. With a $100M payroll it is not hard to field a World series contendor in the NL. Then Howry, (the 2007 version of Gas Can Cliff) gives up a double to Ensberg, Wild Pitch and homer to Adam Everett, yes Adam Everett. Both of these teams ought to leave the starters in to go all 9.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 01:01 PM) I can't believe that with Reinsdorf's eye to the bottom-line that he'd seriously let this happen. Why would Reinsdorf care? If anything this would help the Sox out as fans would head up there. This wouldn't be a Sox home game. It is suppossed to rain all week in Cleveland and the field could be soaked from the snow and rain.

The fact is, I do not like Pods at all but he has won one game and had a great hustle play to give us a three run cushion that kept the tying run from coming to the plate in another. The sample size is incredible small but he looks good to me sorry. Pull and recalibrate the stats of Thome and Dye both which were humiliated by Joe Borowski. These guys are gettting paid a whole hell of a-lot more than Pods but thus far he has added to this club. Anything productive by Dye and Thome late in the last two losses and the Sox could easily be at 4-1. I believe in the end they will help out but Pods thus far has rightly kept Anderson off of the field which was where my points were.

I'd like to see Mack in right one of these first two games. Dye looks really lost right now. Yet another case of spring training meaning s***. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 10:22 PM) There's no reason why Anderson couldn't get a start in CF with Erstad in LF. Despite his batting average Pods has been pretty bad this week, getting Anderson a start in one of the first 7 games of the season was incredibly doable. Ozzie basically came out and said he didn't want Anderson on the roster but had to carry him anyway at the beginning of the season. Getting him 1 AB and an appearance as a pinch runner through the first 5 games and waiting until the end of the 3rd series to get him a start just affirmed it in my mind. The thing that makes Anderson the odd man out is that Pods has looked good (I can't beleive I typed that) and Erstad has been the best hitter on the team. Ozuna will play over Anderson against lefties as he can actually hit them and has become a servicable outfielder. The third game of the Oakland series will be the first time Anderson may see the field to give Erstad, Thome or Konerko a day off.

QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 03:20 PM) Insn't it great to finally have player in Chicago again that brings you off the couch several times per game. TT is sick!!!!!!!!!!! Literally.....he is out for tonight's game with the flu per WSCR as are Gordon, Nocioni and Wallace.

July 6th Twi-night doubleheader.

There are two ways to look at this. 1) Nice walking around feeding people 2) Guy sets up shop in high rent / highly visable area that attracts destitute people where business suffers because of type of crowd. Sorry but homeless people do not attract the crowd which spends money. This is all about business. If the guy wants to feed the homeless, follow the laws set in place.

There will be no double header the weather tomorrow and Sunday is still crappy and Sox lose money. The teams have plenty of open dates and Minnesota is not that far from Chicago for travel issues. Coinciding open dates 4/16 5/7 Come from Sunday afternoon in LA to Minny the next day this is when I think it may be scheduled 5/14 5/24 6/21 8/27 8/13 I believe MLB regulates that the game be made up at the first open date which would be 4/16.

If K State brings in a legitmate coach and keeps this class there could be a great benefit to them. Depends on who they bring in, kind of like the guy that was fired from Virginia (Forget his name).

Didn't really like the Wednesday episode. I like the reality of the show and that there isn't that much sci-fi but the smoke monster tests me. The whole sex triangle thing, rain fight, yada, yada, yada is tiresome. Still think the show is top shelf. The Locke thing interests me and is a great twist. If you can go back and watch season one it is great to tie them together. I am watching them now and it is really cool, especially the Locke stuff.

The funny thing is that the press conditions at Wrigley are far and away the worst in sports but the shrine shall not be dissed.
