  1. What is the difference between Randy Johnson and Javier Vazquez????????? Randy Johnson defended a teammate and got tossed possibly costing his team the game. Vazquez was pitching like s*** and had nothing to lose after the 5th by hitting someone. Why not have him hit Blaylock and end his night anyway in the 7th????? I do not understand why Tracey was not left in there to hit the next guy. Why do we have to hit Blaylock??? Why not remove him drag him back to the clubhouse and berate him or wait until after the game if you want to prove a point ot the team. I find it hard to beleive that he was told to hit one guy or to hit someone was he t oexpect t oonly face one guy. s*** the guy is trying to stay in the majors I am sure he did not follow orders because he felt that was right. I expect Ozzie to smooth this over today and Tracey's thoguht to be heard. I think they were both wrong but Vazquez was the worse. Also why didn't Montero hit anyone its not like he had his good stuff going either.
  2. This is going ot get ugly. Did you hear the f*** you Padilla on tv??? He is looking like Zambrano with the cheering.
  3. I am sorry but podsednik looks at to many called third strikes he really is not a good baseball player.
  4. I don't care if lefties are hitting .800 off of him. With Gload and Pods out there put anderson in center to even if out. The 'D' could get ugly.
  5. I think there is a tremendous amount of over analysis on Jon Garland and Brian Anderson. Garland has been hit pretty good all season but he is eating innings. Vazquez and Garcia have been just as erratic and I believe they have done it with greater run support than Garland which has covered them to a degree. I believe the major issues that this teams needs to address which are larger then Anderson and Garland are: Juan Uribe's decline in both defense and offense. A .234 OBP are grounds for being released yet he is getting a free pass. As was pointed out in the game last night, his defense has been erratic of late. There are two people (Ozuna and Cintron) that can fill in for this slot. Scott Podesednik's defense is downright horrendous. This along with a .250 average are not helping this team at all.
  6. Prior may be back Sunday. Maddux and Zambrano got pushed up a day to face Houston. Makes sense cubs need to beat Houston more than the Tigers. 'Z' would've pitched Friday. ALSO Barrett's hearing is Friday and he may miss the next week (Det, Clev, Min). The Cubs may have everyone back after this. The cubs may go 1-6 if he misses 7 games and they face CC, Johan, Liriano and the Detroit staff in general without Barrett. We does miss Pulojs and Clemens though....... Go Cubs
  7. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:29 AM) YEAH! He's getting paid a LOT of money - how dare he be HUMAN and not make every single play we want him to??? I sure am glad I've never made any mistakes in my life, otherwise I might not have this moral high ground to stand upon and judge others! Come on those two cathes have to be made. The ball he dropped in Cleveland was worse. He is a below average leftfielder, who now is becoming a below average leadoff hitter. If you are going to get a hit every three games you better play defense. While I continue to ride him, I have never seen a player strike out looking more often then he does on pitches that are right down the middle.
  8. McCarthy looks pretty good here.....9th........
  9. Remember about this time last year in Texas. Jon got lit up in the 6th after rolling along. Huge game against this offense.
  10. The food at the stand alone brat & kosher dog stands seem undercooked and the onions are not really grilled but placed on the grill. They used to be oily. Maybe I need to look around a little more. Still like the beer though.
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 04:30 AM) That is soooooo true.... Its one thing I hated about it when I used to listen to the score a lot... id drive to harper a 15-20 min drive and more than half the time it would be on commercials..... I actually think that with updates, traffic and what not there is less talk then this other stuff. There is no flow on that station because they are always breaking into something else. I can not stand that station and they killed the Sox for me as far as the radio goes. Ranger is pretty good though for pre and post, I just can not get into the radio tandem. Murphy, B&B are worthless. North is Ok. I actually like Mike & Mike and think MJH are very good but the commercials are to much here to. I liked Stern because there was 15 minutes of commercials but then a good 40 of content. Sports radio seems like 6 of adds, updates, traffic etc. and then 5 of content. Sports talk is just a filler for the endless commercials.
  12. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 10:42 AM) He was a hitting coach and a 1B coach in our organization about 10 years ago. Papa Jack! Ron Jackson Didn't the Sox want to trade for his kid????
  13. Hire Boston's hitting coach he has got to be great.........................
  14. I will say this again and again with one of the worst leftfielders in baseball Brian Anderson needs to be in centerfield every day. His hitting does not cost us, that is why the other guys in the lineup are making about 4 times more than he is.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) So what, its a slump, stick with what we have which is 7 pretty good offensive players atop our lineup. Offense goes on slumps, defense doesn't, so during a time like this its even more important to ensure that we won't give up extra runs. But Ozzie has done the opposite (and I don't have a problem looking for offense if we need a spark plug or have struggled all season with it) and we've seen game after game where we've given up a few extra runs thanks to having s*** defensive players out there. Brian Anderson and his .160 avg is more valuable than Rob Mack and his .250 avg on this White Sox team (and starting in CF). Anderson has easily saved more runs than Mack has batted in and has kept this team in a lot of ball games. I wish he would start hitting, but the only way he's going to do that is with more practice. He has a hole in his swing down and away and pitchers are exploiting it. He's also struggled with ihs approach, but both are fixable with time and a good work ethic and from everything I've heard Anderson has that (and he has the tools). Patience is all thats needed. Your last two posts are right on. Other slumping players are killing us. If Pods is not on base, he does not deserve a uniform. Anderson is a gold glove caliber CF. Other guys are paid to hit, Iguchi, Pods, AJ. ANderson is not.
  16. I am surprised Cintron isn't at 2B tonight. Iguchi is around .200 against lefties, I believe.
  17. My take on the Tigers is that their rotation is good and bullpen is very strong. Their lineup on paper is not that good. They have some solid big league players but I am not sold on Shelton, Monroe, Granderson, Infante, Inge, Gomez, Thames, Polanco for any length of time. Ordonez, I-Rod and Guillen are legit. The thing though that I do like is they seemed to work the count really really well. Every count was 2-2 or 3-2. It seems nobody swung until they had at least a strike and in some cases two and if the count went 0-2, 1-2 they worked it hence the high pitch counts. If this is their approach against everyone, I like it. As for the Indians their rotation is good. Westbrook is a .500 pitcher unless he faces us. Their pen is equal to ours but our rotation is better. As for hitting I like Hafner, Martinez and Sizemore. I do not think to much of Broussard, Blake, Belliard, Boone, Michaels, Jhonny I am not sure of. If the Sox mind their business theis division will be tough but manageable. The Indians are losing to the Tigers who are losing to the White Sox who are losing to the Indians so what do I know.
  18. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 10:23 AM) Yes they have. The only exception is the 12-8 CLE game. Well 5 of 6. I really think this is the problem right now. Teams are allowed to come back and get into games becuase we give them the momentum. I have noticed all season that we rarely hit relievers, any of them. The first two games in Toronto, all three against Texas and 2 of the 4 against the Indians. Geez other teams mop up guys are killing us.........
  19. Have the Sox been shut out after the 4th inning in 4 of their last 5 games.....
  20. Agreed, a good example is a team being down 5-0 and about to lose their 5th straight but they fought and came back...........no time to panic yet.
  21. Bunt and get his fatass moving in the heat.
  22. If you are suspended you are not paid. 9 games although only 1 start is 6% of their salary where one game is only 1%. Pitchers are not paid by when the pitch but as the rest of players are. In the case of Contrearas this is a difference of $400K.
  23. Contrearas and Lee will get the same number of games. You loss your pay for the games which you are suspended for. Therefore although I agree 100% in the suspending a starter long enough to miss a start or something, in this case it would be hard to support Contrearas getting more than Lee, thus hitting him in the pocket book at a greater percentage than Lee. I think they both get a game.
  24. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ May 24, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) If it was a day game it wouldve been a no game. I hope it dosent rain all day. Is Oakland off tomorrow? I assume they are which is why it is not a day game today. I wonder if they will play it tomorrow afternoon......if Oakland is off.
