QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 24, 2006 -> 07:58 AM) Pablo Ozuna takes a ton of pitches. In this situation he got a perfect pitch to bunt the pitcher was just going to try and get ahead of him. Also he is a good bunter, he even said he was a better bunter than hitter. Maybe he thought ot himself, if the pitcher throws me a pitch I can push to the right I can get a running start and beat it out because the second basemen is playing deep in the hole and the pitcher falls to the third base side. To compare this play to Neifi Perez is night and day. The best thing Neifi could have done was move the tying run into scoring position. Of the people I was watching the game with, 4 guys said he should try this. Ozuna seemed to think about this before he went to bat.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) The original reason gave here was because Baines wanted more face time since this was going to be his final year with the Sox (either he was going to retire or try and find a better coaching gig). However, he just signed an extension so I honestly have no idea why Baines is out there now. Raines was a better baserunner and is far more knowledgable when it comes to that aspect of the game, so I figure he'd be the better base coach. The reason Raines is in the dugout, I thought, was because Raines could talk to players because he was on the bench now as oppossed to being on the field while the players were on the bench.
-
This thread confuses me. Baines just resigned a three year deal. Raines is unsigned with a decision to made on him after the season. Have I got them confused As for why Raines is at first, graduation makes sense for Baines. Walker is gone tomorrow I believe for the same thing.

The thing I see about Thorton is that guys just try to put the ball in play against him like they do against Jenks. They give up crappy hits and can be dinked to death. I also think that other guys are more patient against Jenks and Thorton because they know they may have trouble catching up to the heat. I think Thorton and Jenks have better pitches than just the fastball but being a reliever they to do have the luxury to establish different pitches and find out what is working. They have to make good pitches from the get go. In the World Series extra inning game, Jenks was throwing a ton of sliders. In the 9th inning though you do not want to be beat on a slider if your fastball is a better pitch. Jenks got comfortable with the curve last night and made Crosby look like a fool. Both of these guys are converted front line starters with 3 major league pitches. Location is all they need to be a devastating duo.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 23, 2006 -> 11:47 AM) What do you suggest? Go out and get another Ace and pay heavily for him even though the guy probably won't even start in the playoffs? I'd like to hear your plan of action. Jon at least treads water. That's all I ask. Keep us in ballgames. I agree with this but he is being paid like a number two starter. Going into this season I had always defended him but at $9M a year he better have an ERA under 4 and a WHIP below 1.4. He needs to perform at the level we are paying him not as a "number 5 starter" that is BS.

Official Cheer Frank Thomas Tomorrow Thread
Harry Chappas replied to GoRowand33's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Look at the White Sox pre-Frank Thomas and look at them during Frank Thomas. I believe he played as big a role as any in getting this organization moving in the direction it did. He was one of the best players in the game for about 10 years and deserves a nice hand. His ideas and thoughts are none of my business I paid to enjoy his ability to play baseball. I did not pay to hear his thoughts on anything. Look at the White Sox with Frank Thoams on that team. How often did they finish below second place. I also believe they had the 4th best record in baseball while he was on the White Sox. Standig 'O' Also Thome was offered a big contract and turned it down for Philly who offered a bigger contract, Thomas was released. FWIW. -
DJ said that Cora bit Daryl Strawberry because the pitcher was turning blue from being choked by Daryl.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 18, 2006 -> 10:24 AM) I have to admit, if things were the other way around, there is NO WAY in hell I'd be going to Wrigley for this series. I wonder what % of the crowd will be Cub fans. Last year at wrigley when we were going for the sweep it was 50/50 at their place.

Springer nails Bonds, Fans appluad
Harry Chappas replied to Phuck the Cubs's topic in The Diamond Club
Barry Bonds puts on the largest arm pad in the world and crowds the plate. He never gets a strike called on him. Why should he not be brushed back or hit.... He wasn't drilled in the head. -
GAME THREAD 5-16-06 SOX vs RAYS
Harry Chappas replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2006 Season in Review
I know what guillen is doing but you need to have major league pitchers on the team not guys to run out there and "take one for the team" that is all logan and this assclown pitching are good for. We need 11 major league pitchers not guys to take one for the f***ing team. Screw that. Friday and tonight were giveaways because our bullpen is short two arms. A major league reliever should have been brought up and McCarthy should have started the last two games Jose games. Three games since last week were give away because we didn't have apitcher to come in and hold ateam down. At least we have found out in May and not September. -
Can we give up on Boone Logan for now. It was a nice little story but now it is f***ing embarassing to be gettting our asses kicked by the D-Rays. s*** this is only going to get worse another guillen pet comes in. Feels like Friday's game and it carried over for two days of bad baseball.
-
2 of 3 for the cub would not be that surprising to me. Maddux always pitches good against us and Zambrano has been going good. We do not fair well against lefties so Saturday is by no means a cakewalk. They will be up, we better be as well. They also will be rested being at home, we fly in late Thursday for an afternoon game. I also hope we don't look past the Rays.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 13, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) He looks like the second coming of Santana. Could we trade AJ for Liriano and Nathan? How does that guy keep his job. Latroy hawkins for anyhting.
-
I like both charts, thanks. I like to see what we are drawing and there was some pretty serious work put in on these and hadn't seen them in a while. I did not mean to have any cub talk in this.
-
Can the cat that did all of the charting for attendance reappear. I am to lazy to look for it but it was a cool little graph with some great detail. Two sell-outs against the Royals and 60K plus thus far in this series has got to be nice. This stems from the Trib gig about the attendance.

Important notice to the negative crazies
Harry Chappas replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I take the losses as hard as anyone. Ask anyone who saw me Friday. Last night would have been great and could have really killed the Halos. We had no business being in that game. My problem is that Ozzie seems to get in trouble when he goes to the pen to often. McCarthy or Cotts would have been fine to finish. Why only let Jenks face two guys. If you want him in bring him in to start with or not at all. He did this with Thorton the other day. The best thing about last night was McCarthy getting his groove back in order to give him a start Monday or Tuesday if today is rained out. Jenks is fine all is still well. Charlie.........................well McCarthy has to feel a tad better about himself. -
My take is that there will always be pain and discomfort and he may be thinking, I can do this for three months with pain killers and what not but not for a whole season.
-
His agent is driving the bus and is not the type to do anything for the good of the organization.

For May 19th.......1908

It is probably some sort of sponsorship thing and teams can phase them overtime.
