  1. QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ May 8, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) So the only thing that's keeping this thread going is that Count might have a small ache in the back... Like Hermanson has..........
  2. Wasn't a relative of Chuck's a poster here? The credence to the story is this. Can the Angels hit a knuckleball? Haegar can not come out of the pen. Therefore I can see him get a first look.
  3. Rumor as in the guy next to you or a credible source rumor???? Someone would have had to have been moved for this to happen.
  4. My thoughts; Mackowiak is showing he can not be relied on as anyhting more than a 24 or 25th man. Jenks pitched three days in a row he should not have been in that game at all. Now he is unavailable the rest of this series in my mind. Thorton looked great in the 8th and he should have gone longer in the 9th. His problem is that he has trouble putting guys away Bloomquist the other night and Guiel last night. Last night it was cold and pitchers have trouble getting warm, see both bullpens. My problem with Guillen's use of the bullpen is this, either go with your gut or go with the lefty/righty thing. The sad thing about last night is later in the season we will be b****ing about teams getting to play the Royals while we are playing tough teams. You have to beat the Roayls. Oh and the Sox sent 19 men to the plate through 6 inninngs, that is not good.
  5. I have eaten more crow in the last year.....the taste never leaves my mouth. I will still complain and second guess, that is the best thing about baseball. I am not used to following a team that actually is better than everyone else and having a manager that is becoming very good at winning.
  6. Let Logan, McCarthy and Thorton get work. There is no reason for Buerhle to still be in this game. This is really bad managing all day.
  7. You can add Mackowiak to the list of guys that should be looking until they get a strike especially after the long at-bat by Konerko.
  8. If there is a pitch count and Uribe, Anderson and Ozuna swing before they at least have one strike they should be benced following the at-bat. The Indian bullpen is overworked.
  9. I believe Farmer mentioned Konerko's slow start last night. I think Brantley was just confused and that comment could have been overlooked but stating that Papelbon is the best player in baseball is just stupid. Isn't Jenks younger and more experienced??????????? If Jenks pitched in NY or Boston there would have been a whole segment on the 9th inning--- 4 batters, 11 pitchers, 1 broken bat single, 3 strikeouts----that is sick.
  10. After seeing that I think it will be a pretty long time. Regardless of who is calling what this was not a toss or a flip. He threw the bat, again the year sounds about right.
  11. When talking about their greatest White Sox moments recently, DJ--- hitting a homerun on Opening Day 1999, his last Opening Day Hawk --- winning the World Series This was an answer to an e-mail question which maybe DJ misunderstood but it also tells of who appreciates the organization more. In terms of career achievement Hawk being named GM would be greater then the Sox winning the series although he kind of stays away from this subject.
  12. QUOTE(Wanne @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) Who's really positive that he's got back spasms? Maybe it's the "phantom" spasms and Ozzie just really doesn't want to pitch him this series being Seattle and all. Just convenient it came right before the Seattle series IMO. Who knows.... He hasn't pitched in over two weeks.
  13. He looked servicable but still unable to consistently throw strikes when needed. He also was hit pretty hard and benefitted from the ballpark. I think Thorton brings more to the table but hasn't been used much. Cotts, Politte, McCarthy and Jenks will make it really hard to get these two into any games with the starting pitching going as they are, assuming the other four are doing as they have.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) They play in the national league, so they aren't going to be playing against good teams very often..... The Marlins and Pirates could be two of the worst teams I have seen. The NL in total is very weak. I really can not think of a good team. Every team has at least one glaring weakness.
  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) Paul Konerko (May 5th 2005) -- .190/.302/.430 -- To think some people here thought he would match his 40/117 performance from '04. Jermaine Dye (May 13th 2005) -- .192/.230/.358 -- To think some people here thought he could replace Maggs. /me thinks its a little early to be tossing around the "to thinks" Michaels is IMHO a little bit better than Mackowiak.
  16. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 09:22 AM) Am I the only one that thinks Uribe could have stopped that ball from going into the outfield? I think he could have dove for it, and kept the runner at 3rd. I like to b**** so I will run with this. Uribe did a few things badly yesterday. Not sure if I am being overly critical but he swung at some horrendous pitches. The ball that Ichiro hit was perfectly placed. Both the tying and winning runs were 12 hoppers/rollers with nobody in site. I was fine, almost happy with the lineup as Moyer has made us look sad before. They got some nice hacks off Putz for once and hit Guardado. I think Tad may get the day off for Cintron today. If I wasn't up until 12:15 I wouldn't have cared.
  17. If these were debated in the game threads, sorry. 1) Garland looked pretty good but it seemed the leadoff man was on every inning. I do not think he should have started the 8th, Ibanez hits him pretty good. 2) Why not walk Ichiro with first base open and the tying run on second. Especially if you are going to walk the .214 hitting Jeremy Redd later. McCarthy should get Reed out there. I think I am just tired and looking to b****, oh well.
  18. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) ESPN made a good point when they said the Yankees have figured out that the best way to beat Santana is to up his pitch count and get into the bullpen. Not that it's a lock by any stretch, but at least you don't face Satan for nine innings. I have been saying this for years. Sit on the fastball and take three change-ups for strikes and sit down. I do not think hacking away is the way to go. I know this is easier said then done but the guy almost throws a perfect game at us all of the time. Let's hope this changes tonight. I think he tires easy but we don't even make him work. Odds makers have the Sox as a slight favorite.
  19. Instead of 10-5 we really should be 14-1 maybe 13-2, I'm just sayin. Oh well, I'll take .667 ball.
  20. To many pitching changes for this inning. What is the status of the game please?
  21. Can anyone do Play-by-play for the 9th? Please.
  22. What happened? Hit I suppose, the no hitter is gone??????????
  23. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) That's twice. I should ban your ass. I dare you to. Please, just for the next hour or so. Kind of like Crede forced to cut the hair.
  24. Any chance of someone giving some PBP??? I'd rather scroll through this to get some insite. It is also less screen space at work to make it look like I am being productive.
  25. I sat in centerfield Friday. He freezes on balls hit right at him like Rowand did, maybe that is just the position. I think he also plays to deep. Neither of which I am any more qualified than Tim Raines to address. As for his time at the plate Friday. He looked like a pithcer. Mack should be playing center for a week. KW should have some feelers out there...... I can live with Pods struggling as he looks off, same as Uribe. Anderson looks clueless and worse than that, helpless.
