QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 07:36 AM) I believe they are getting a lot more deposits than anticipated. With the prices that are being asked for on the various broker sites and ebay and craigslist, the 50% deposit is going to be eaten by a lot of the people taking advantage of this offer. They figure they pay the deposit get the tickets and they still come out ahead, or others will sell the tickets at a price where they will get their deposit back and then some. Yes and the White Sox make $2K on each World Sereis ticket sold insteead of $140. People need to realize that it is a big world out there and keeping the die hards happy isn't the goal of the White Sox nor should it be we follow them when they blow. Bandwagon is where the money is and this is the target not the die-hards. I am buying a full two seat plan (usually I have 27 game plan), am going to one WS game and selling the rest to pay for what I can not afford, a full plan next year. Who pays this for me, some guy I do not know. I do know this, I will be at a ton of games next year and will spend $$$ while there. I hope the guy that buys the scalped seats has fun and I would like to thank him. Next season if they go all they way, I'll be there for every step. If they suck oh well, that is KW's fault not Brooks. Brooks will have 1.6M tickets sold in February (this year they had 800K), KW needs to make it worth the time for the fans to be there. If the tickets were sold, the 15K for the Royals would've been 30K in September.

This is genius. This puts tickets in circulation. The money is spent, if 5,000 people do this, it puts 405,000 tickets sold at the start of the season. You need a season ticket base to have the revenue and this is the biggest selling point. Our attendance dropped when season tickets went from 24,000 down to 8,000. This can take it back up to 20,000. This is ticket scalping but this organization spends on their team so I have no issue with it.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) geez, brantley and mariotti admitting they were wrong. the sox going to the world series. dogs and cats living in harmony. the apocalypse? Lead by the four horsemen, Contrearas, Buerhle, Garland and Garcia.

The one thing I like is we have faced some of the front line pitchers on Houston and St. Louis (Petite, Clemens, Carpenter, Mulder, Suppan, Isringhausen). Where as they may have only seen our guys (except Hermanson) once or twice in interleague a couple of years back. Neither team runs very well (except for Taveraz) nor are their bullpens as deep as California. Their hitting is not that of Boston and more along the lines of California. How about a Mulder (Chicago native) v. Buerhle (MO native). On paper they are very similar so I think they are a toss up. Neither can be looking forward to playing the White Sox.

WOW I always liked him. Were any balls even hit hard. WOW

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Try one of those bars near 111th/Western. I'm sure they'll all be packed with Sox fans. From NW IN make your way to Western Ave from 101st to 117th pick a bar and go in. McNally's will give free drinks when anyone homers against the cubs, you get the idea. For Sports Bar 115th and Kedzie Bourbon Street, place is massive. MVP was at Cork & Kerry last Friday, great beergarden. The southside is rocking right now all Sox fans. When teh cubs were playing every bar was a Marlin bar.

I think the first inning will tell the tale for the Sox. If they make some noise it will be good, if not I think they fall back to the offensive crap we are used to. Pods and Dye need to do something. I hope Dye is hitting 7th, with Carl hitting 3rd. Can't believe I said this but I think Carl needs to be moved back up.

I think more than anything it changed the momentum of the game. Buerhle was able to overcome it but I think the hitting did not. The problem I have is that the coaching staff in general does not prepare the team to take what the opposition gives them. With no outs why send him????? Take risks when the odds are against you. With 2 outs, send him. With no outs hold him and let Crede or Uribe bring him in. I get the feeling Cora does not see the big picture. This was the situation Uribe and Crede thrive in and could have really opened the game. Our baserunning has become embarassingly bad.

Los Angeles @ Chicago - ALCS Game 1
Harry Chappas replied to Heads22's topic in 2005 Season in Review
The NL is done. I assume they would play Tuesady rather than force the AL to play 4 straight days. -
Garcia at home in Game 7 scares the hell out of me.

The Black Sox Larry Sherry The '67 meltdown (I think it was 67) Tito Landrum Jerry Dybzynski's (sp) bad baserunning Can't hold my jock Dave Stewart The curse of Jon Olerud The hitless wonders of 1983 and afraid of the afternoon shadows of 2000 If for just one week.....

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) Who's joking? Manny and Pods would be one of the worst defensive outfields to ever play the game at any level. Think cub outfield when sosa was moved to center.

Those commentsdid make me laugh pretty hard. Look in the mirror asswipe the hottest team won last year, not the best douchebag.

Ya gotta be able to throw f***ing strikes.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) thanks rangercal. I'm not trying to be a dick. I'm just trying to keep up. that's all. Right on. I like the commentary of what is happening rather than blips 5 minutes later on MLB.

PLEASE STOP b****ING ABOUT BERMAN. THIS IS FASTER THAN MLB.COM AND IS THE QUICKEST OUTLET TO THE ACTION. THANK YOU.

Looks like the Dodger game, here is the self-proclaimed big game pitcher.

Did anyone simply try and make contact or did everyone overswing and try to homer. Watching on the Internet sucks. Iguchi should've bunted.

QUOTE(Stocking @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) A friend of mine literally had a shart and was late to work. His boss was going to let him go till he was told that he was on his way and let out some gas and a little something followed. guess he felt sorry for him. haha same kid crapped himself while eating once too, oh now i need to to tell this story. So we are sitting at an outdoor patio eating. 4 guys, our food comes. "no, no that didnt just happen. " looks around with a blank stare, "no way, im 23 years old this shouldnt be happening." lifts an ass cheek, "yup, I just crapped myself, god damn it!" I just about pissed my pants laughing. THIS IS KNOWN AS GAMBLING AND LOSING!!!!!!

QUOTE(spiderman @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) I generally think Farmio does a good job, but I can't stand when he gets credit for calling a HR, like he did for Iguchi in Game 2. If you listen to enough to enough of the radio broadcast, you probably hear Farmer speculating about a White Sox player hitting a HR about 15 times a broadcast....'His next HR will be his whatever', or 'If he pitches a ball in a certain location, he could crush that ball' Again, not meaning to rip Famer - I think he's solid as a broadcaster, but don't be so fast to credit him for calling Iguchi's HR unless you're also willing to say he was wrong the 15 other times he called for one earlier in the game.... That's my rant. BTW, I am going to miss Rooney! By the way I felt they should've pitched around him as Dye looked lost against Wells. I said this to the guy next to me. I thought he would get better wood then Dye but did not think he would homer.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 06:33 AM) Who's got a good excuse to leave work early, today? And yes, I know the White Sox are on is good, but I don't want to tell the boss that. Gamble (not with money) and lose. It could be messy and quite embarassing but if properly prepared ahead of time (bring extra clothes and stash them), it will only cost you a pair of pants. Setting the stage would be the tough part but only you know your body and what it can and can not take and the recovery time. Drink a gallon of milk in an hour and throw up all over your boss. Best of luck.

As long as Bill Murray is nowhere near the place like with Illinois.
