QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) Yeah, even Farmer asked him a few times if they might run across each other next year while on the road. Sure sounded to me like Rooney was gone. Ever hear Rooney give a response.......

A 96 plus MPH fastball is the best pitch in baseball especially after seeing Mark Buerhle 3 times prior to this. You can't hang a heater. Heat in the playoffs is a good thing, a very good thing. As for Damon he could not change up on the approach that worked against Buerhle. He let the ball come to him all night. You have to attack it against Jenks if you let it come to you......well see the Damon and Olerud at-bats. Not sure if this was the White Sox mindset on leaving him out there but it worked.

A couple of things. I thought Cotts in the 9th but how many saves does he have this season???? With that in mind and two lefties up, Jenks was the only option. Lefties kill Hermanson. I thought the ben may be over rested but Cliff and Neil pitched Tuesday. Ozzie has got balls.

QUOTE(mreye @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 06:41 AM) Very, very cool. What building is that, Mike? Blue Cross / Blue Shield

QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) Not trying to rain on anyone's parade - but wouldn't Mayor Daley have been a logical choice? World Series Myself I go with former govenor and big Sox fan Jim Thompson.

All safe bets although I would have liked to have seen Gload added for his bat instead of Blum. Gload looked decent in the outfield as well. I think Gload would fare well agaisnt Timlin. This gives us three options at short and third and four at second but only one at first.

I get the feeling El Duque will be the impact arm out of he pen for some reason.

The 12:00 Wednesday afternoon audience is that great as oppossed to that which will watch whatever is on ESPN2 (Poker rerun) and Classic. I would think the options would increase the overall ratings as fans would stay tuned in if the games are entertaining. I know I would watch. How many fans watch at 12:00 ion the afternoon???????
-
Can ESPNn show all three game at once on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Classic on Wednesday. That would be a baseball bonanaza as far as markets go. New York Boston Chicago Los Angeles Houston Atlanta The games are carried locally at these times as well on local channels for prime time ratings. Does this make to much sense to actually do?

QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) I don't know how to feel - happy, estatic, thrilling, exciting, etc. But one thing I can share with you. Going through such a tough stretch of the season, especially the last few weeks, I feel that the White Sox are now better prepared to go into the playoff and make some noise. If Pods, Everett, Crede and Rowand can get hot in the playoff, watch out! I feel much better about our chances this year than the year of 2000, when we just limped into the postseason and got swept by the Mariners. But most importantly, thanks for all of you for going through all of the ups and downs of this tremendous season with me. Many angry and uncalled-for words have been thrown at each other, but nevertheless, we all have just one goal, and that goal is being played right in front of us. Congrat on the tremendous season SO FAR! Amen Brother.

Guy has some stones. Simply put he has carried this team by saving the pen and beating the crap out of guys. Wow, just wow.
-
Here is why I think Contrearas will start. If you play the Yanks or Angels you get Johnson or Colon twice. We need to put a guy out there that could possibly dominate and shut a team down. Who is that.....Contrearas. Buerhle will go 6 or 7 but may give up 3 or 4. Jose could s*** the bed but I think he is the guy to go with. To hell with stats.

If the Sox win tommorow they clinch AL Central

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 06:18 AM) That would result in us tied with Boston and New York at 95-67 correct? So we would have to have one game playoffs. Just win today baby. CWSOX45 The day after they had a one game playoff. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) They piss down their legs when the pressure is on. Is that month or season?
-
Didn't see this anywhere but the Sox would host NY or Boston in a wild card play in next Monday.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) ..we get rained out tonight... Jose will not be able to starty Sunday in Cleveland and it will have to be Brandon McCarthy if we havent won the Division by then!!! I don't think they would bring him back on three days rest anyway.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) They must have changed it in recent years. So basically if the Sox win their next 2 and Cleveland loses 1 more against TB, its over. Ding ding ding 3-2 record the rest of the way and it is done. We could lose 2nd round home field but that is it. A loss by any of the other three tonight and/or tomorrow make it easier.

Sounds like Rocky 2 to me. Ms. Crede awakes turns to Joe and says, "WIN, WIN" Get back Joe Joe!!!!!!!! Oh I got the chills.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) I've heard if the Sox and Indians tie for the ALC/WC, that the Sox win the ALC due to better head-to-head record. That is what I was led to believe. The ONLY time head to head comes into play is if both will make the playoffs.
