Remember before the season started when KW told everyone he would hold back some cash until the trade deadline. Wonder what will happen with that cash..........

Griffey Jr.: 'I'm not going' to the White Sox
Harry Chappas replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) He'll be one of the most valued starting pitchers available on the trade market. He would be the ace on a handful of teams, and with one year left on his deal, his stock has never been higher. Seeing as there is question as to who (possibly 2) gets set aside for the rotation in the playoffs would it not make some sense to trade a starter for a big bat seeing as it is almost a consensus that one of the Cubans will be gone. With Beltran underachieveing is Rowand/a starter worth it if the Mets throw in some cash???? Floyd - Contrearas?? -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) Our pitching has been phenominal. We cant expect the staff to toss up zeros everytime they go up there. Sometimes they have a bad start, it happens. But our offense cannot compensate for that. That is my point the only time I can recall out hitting a team was Toronto on that afternoon Garland got lite up. This is killing the psyche of the rotation.

How the hell is this Buerhle's fault? Maybe if we got a f***ing rally we would have a shot. Let's see over the weekend we got 5, 4 and 2 runs in Minnesota we got 0 6 (yipee) and 2 runs. Prior to this we lost 7 in a row. The pressure on our staff is incredible as th likes of every hitter in this lineup underachieves. Pierzynski has 47 RBI's??? That is less than Uribe with 8 more home runs. Podsednik is a nice player but he isn't goign to turn this around. Rowand, well he has a nice outing in center at Yankee stadium. We are not the shoe in to the playoffs we think we are. We have not come back in a game in weeks (more than arun down). This was how we were a winning team. THIS IS NoOBUERHLE's FAULT. We are getting schooled by a s***ty pitcher YET AGAIN.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) You heard this on AM 1000? Is this the same as when Levine was on with Tom Schaer early this afternoon? I did not personally hear anything so I'm trying to figure out what was said or if there's been an update. I have a friend of mine who is ready to commit hari kari over this whole situation. Yes the funny thing was on the Bruce Levine bit on the Thursday Comcast sports show he said this deal was just about dead. THat is what makes this strange.

The report I heard was the deal was immenent (sp?) and they were crossing t's and dotting i's for the announcement tomorrow. Same feeling as the other posters. I assume KW JR and the boys are jsut balancing the check to see if they really want to do this.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) Texsox, I have no problem with bandwagon jumpers in general. If they want to start supporting the Sox, thats cool with me. I have a problem with bandwagon jumpers who act like they have been here forever and only post negative comments. The latter is what Konerko is getting upset with. SB Where is Paul Konerko hosting these sessions of fans blasting the team. I pointed out earlier there were over 200K at the last homestand that I did not hear booing. This is where you get your census from. Geez, Guillen was embarrassed for his team last Saturday, was he on teh bandwagon? I just do not see the audience that Paul is talking about. In 2000 when they were winning they only had 20K out there.

I enjoyed Tuesday's game and was not negative about the loss. The Minnesota series last weekend and the Yankees first two games were sickening. A bandwagon fan could care less how they are playing as long as they are enjoying themselves. Most of them know little about the team and the situation they just back a winner and enjoy the ride. I really see nothing wrong with that, they put $$$ into the team. Sorry if I can not bring myself to watch this team look foolish at the plate and do nothing to correct it. I can not watch a guy go 5 for 55 (or thereabouts) three times a year and wonder if maybe something should be changed. I just want to win and I know they do but if I have to sit around with a smile on my face like a cub fan sorry I can't do it.

QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) My guess would be no, but i do believe that Nomar still got a ring after he was traded. Kind of like getting to watch someone have sex with a hot chick.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) Yea. Both Friday and Saturday as a matter of fact. Did I mess up your point...? I didn't so I just must've had my selevctive hearing on. My point was that there seems to be this uprising against anyone that questions the ability of this team. The people on this board are going to fly off the handle, I do, that is why we come hear sometimes. Last Friday I paid for my playoff tickets so although I was not happy with what was going on and said so here, I am not a bandwagon fan nor to I feel I need to act like I do not have issues with this team. My point is they need to address the situation at the park not on some message board. When there are 15K out there boing them, he has a point. If he is reading this board or any other and guaging that as the fan base, I think he is mistaken.

I wasn't comparing this to other players I just liked that Crain seemed to be looking to drill Crede and maybe this pissed off some guys off. The same seemd to be happening to Rowand. Silvia has great control yet he almost drilled Rowand twice (got him the second time). It looked like Pablo was trying to make a GOOD CLEAN point that's all.

Did anyone hear any booing last weekend when 110K showed up to watch them play the Yanks. How about the over 100K that showed up to see them take a s*** against the Twins. I am offended by these quotes actually as the last I could see we were coming out in droves spending dough and they were not really looking to good (7-18 at home in the last 25?). Call me a bandwagon jumper if you will but I am not going to sit with the rose colored glasses on. If he is reading these boards, he needs a new hobby. Sorry.

Whie watching the replay last night, I happened to see the slide Pablo had into third on the Uribe bunt. I thought at first it was Uribe but it had to be Pablo. It looked like a nice hard with a little intent to it, I liked it. The little Rodriguez fellow almost lost a leg. It was clean. I like Pablo Ozuna.

Hermanson healthy and this bullpen is sick next season. Vizcaino, Cliff and Marte are your 6th inning guys. I beleive they are all signed. $24M can be spent elsewhere. We have 5 guys that can close right now (Cliff, Marte, Neil, Jenks and Hermanson) if they are throwing strikes and Viz if he is on is no fool out there. This is why I like Cooper and Oz b****ing about the walks if these guys throw strikes they are good, all of them, we have seen this.

Let's see he has shut down the Twins twice did you see them the last week their offense is nothing to write home about and KC, not really murder's row. The Tigers hit him somewhat and we saw him in the spring. The Duke needs a good outing and we need to change our approach. Timo should let a pitch hit him, charge them mound and get both of them tossed. All this and I do not like our chances, hopefully the starting pitching can keep it up as Moyer is going Sunday and their bullpen shuts us down, not good but let's see what happens. -
I still don't get how these waivers work
Harry Chappas replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) $50K, IIRC Now think if you claim 10 ($500K) players when the wire is flooded. This is why you put your whole team out there. I know the wire conversation is well overdone here but I never thought of this rationale. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Ask Dustin Hermanson, as he is experiencing just that phenom this year. I think his back is the problem not a tired arm.

Doesn't it cost like $25K to claim a player? -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) Yup -- The Twins tired Jon out to get him out with only one and a third outs left to get in the game... :rolly The 9th last night, Garcia in the 7th or 8th the night before. Garcia in the 7th last week...... I am not blaming Garland I am making a point comparing a horses*** offense to ours and what they do. Watch the Oakland A's this is their strategy and it works with less prolific hitters. -

The thing that ticks me off is that Garland is out of there because the Twins worked the count giving up at-bats to tire him out. The Sox inability to work a count and tire a pitcher is disgusting. Garland would throw 16 pitchers to 3 batters, Silva would throw that to 7. This is what is killing this team offenesivly. Major League pitchers are there for a reason, they can pitch, you need to work them, especially if they are not power guys. Am I wrong??? -
