  1. Does anyone think Ozzie is getting a little to cocky. He went to his pen early with the off day to get them work as well as getting playing time for those that should not even have uniforms, well one Harris actually.
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) It was a legitimate question, so you don't have to be a smartass about it. In his last 6 appearances, his ERA is near 6. CBS Sporstline had El Duque in the game.
  3. Defense has cost us a ton (possibly three games) lately. Is complacency setting in???????
  4. Whew for a second I thought it would be Willie Harris.
  5. Something annoys me in an Anthrax kind of way about him. Too much Stuart Scott lingo type crap. I don't really get the impression he is a big fan either. Like one of those guys that got the job becasue they like doing radio which is good but it doesn't work to get teh fans to listen all of the time. This was why I like Wills and Hawk.
  6. The White Sox have arguably the most complete team in the pennant race. Any additions could be viewed as simply a manner of upgrading an average aspect of the team. There are no weaknesses as great as other teams may have. With this in mind, is KW involved in every deal knowing that he can or can not make the move while possibly impacting another team negativly. The White Sox appear, although most of this comes from a biased fan forum, to have the best bargaining chips in terms of prospects. These pieces can be used to drive the price of a player up knowing that in the end they really don't need him. With Clement's status possibly unknown at the deadline, Boston now needs Burnett greatly. Can they top major league bullpen help greater than Politte? No but if Schilling is now moved to the rotation and they can go after Guardado can they top a Marte deal for him.... All KW needs to do is become involved in every deal knowing he does not have to complete anything but knowing he can always put up enough to stay in the mix and see which contenders can improve them themselves and then improve based on this. I find it funny how we are involved in just about every deal out there while we really don't need anything that great.
  7. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) They can keep him, his contract, and his butchers glove. he certainly moves the team back into the corpseball realm. Did you see the series this past weekend. Won two games and scared the crap out me (us?) in another. He is an enigma but if pay a chunck......
  8. My thoughts are Lowell (if forced to take hiM) and Burnett come here and spun directly to the Philles for Wagner and Thome. I think it is Burnett only then he is spun one for one for Wagner. If Contrearas is not moved Burnett is not on this team. The Phillies and Fish are not trading with one another nor in a three way.
  9. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 07:41 AM) They are showing this live - there's not going to be a "rigging" but mathematically, the Rangers have the best shot (along with three others) because they have sucked so bad for the last 4 years. My understanding was Bettemen was holding a press conference and the drawing was to be held behind closed doors and announced at the end of this conference. Hawks have the most cash to get this guy in and signed at the draft.
  10. Barrett said he was only throwing in the upper 80's hurt or healthy that ain't going to cut ot for him.
  11. How many numbers fours are better? Should he have more wins, yes but so should Buerhle (not his fault) and Garland shouldn't have 14 and Hernandez should not have 7. It all evens out look at Freddy. I think he can be maddening as hell but I think he does a good job as our number four guy.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) Don't look now, but the Cubs are in a great position for 2006. They have a $100 million payroll now, and over $20 million coming off of the books. Yes but they have to pay Prior and Zambrano and Maddux is due liek $12M isn't he.
  13. I like this line-up Pods Rowand / Pyz against righties Iguchi Thomas Dye / Everett every other date/ match- up platoon Konerko etc. I think they need to move Rowand into a position to do things with the bat other than hit behind that fool Konerko. I like Iguchi 2nd and Rowand 3rd with Thomas 4th.
  14. It is not about giving up. It is about being consistent. Stop swining at first pitch balls in the dirt, 2-0 pitches that are popeed up or again swung at in the dirt. Fight off tough pitces by hitting them foul not popping them up or weakly rolling out. Everyone insists on pulling the ball. Our starters (all of them) and bullpen are winning games we need more consistent offense.
  15. I think it is time to move konerko down to 6 or 7 and put Thomas fourth. konerko is now on pace to have under 100 rbi. Inexcusable if Iguchi is going to give up at bats for no just cause becasue this asswipe can't drive anyone in. Konerko and Jenks for Thome/Wagner and Cash (lots of cash)
  16. The downside to being 12 games up....... No more KW must go threads. Maybe I'll start one over the Shingo handling.
  17. While watching the last two games I have come to a conclusion. Neither of the Cubans can pitch out of the bullpen, should they be needed. Assume they come in with a runner on. Average/Decent speed = stolen base, not what you want late in a game. Think of the impact this had with Brian Roberts lasytyear. That isn't really even the half of it. They need time to establish themselves in a game and work with their stuff over the course of the game. In relief I think they would be a nightmare. Have either of them ever pitched out of the pen????/ I like both of these guys to round out a rotation. They can get hit around and are tough to watch from times but over-all I am fine with the five we have. Now here is my point. If we make the playoffs, both of them should not be on the roster. Every reliever can pitch in every game, you do not need a long man. This is where I think we need to add a reliever, a good one, and send Jenks down. For the playoffs, and correct me if I am wrong, we can still add Jenks to replace a starter (as long as he is on teh 40 man) thereby adding a reliever now, send Jenks down for six weeks and go at it in September with him and see what the pen has.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) Shingo is not a "long" reliever. Adkins can give us 5 or 6 innings if we need someone to eat innings. Baj was mentioned as a long man earlier, yet he's been a closer all season, so he wouldn't qualify for that role either. How does Hermanson getting hurt require getting a long reliever? I would think that we would try to get Shingo back in order if we need a closer rather than try to create one with Jenks, Marte, Cotts, Polittee , etc. Of these guys Shingo has the experience for this the rest have failed in this capacity without ever having success. Do not mess with what they are doing well. Will he get the job done? Who knows but he has done it previously. Put Hermanson on the DL reinstate Shingo and go from there. In two weeks see what happens. This makes more sense that Jenks, Adkins, Baj etc.
  19. The wave aside, I have no preference although I do not do it, it does get the crowd going. They shoudl do it only between inning s and when the other team is batting. Last night was very interesting. I park on the street a few blocks away from the park and there were parties all throughout the neighbothood. The tailgatign was huge as well. It really felt like a Sturday. The crowd was also great, no fights and I am in the bleachers. Can't beat the Living on a Prayer sing along
  20. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) How many tix sold for tomorrows? I'm going tomorrow and I'd love to see the place full. AS of yesterday, they had well over 30K a game except for tomorrow which was at 19.5K.
