The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement
Harry Chappas replied to Wise Master Buehrle's topic in SLaM
A little note on population density. If you took every living person and put them in the state of Texas, it would have a lower population density than Manhatten. -
There commercia breaks. Is this station ever on the air longer than 5 minutes?

His article today in the Times says it all. It talks about how the cub are frauding their fans by not going after Beltran but it does not have the personal distain toward the situation as it does with this feelings for the Sox. How are the cub not getting raked over the coals for not addressing a single issue this offseason? Yet the Sox make moves but they are not good enough. Case in point the bubbly article about how Todd Hollandsworth is going to replace Moises Alou and then the followiong day how they should target Ordonez. Whre is the JD Drew story? He would look great inl eft this year and right next for them.

He is awsome. -
I think Santana may have an off year. The guy was great but he seemed to wear down as games wore on. How many times did he have a gem going for 5 innings and then get touched up in the 6th or 7th. I will use the Buerhle game last year in Cleveland. If he is on he is on for 9 innings. Sanatana seems to tire and can be had in the late middle innings. Am I wrong?

Bo Jackson question for the long-time fans
Harry Chappas replied to BlizzardOfOzzie's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Bo Jackson and Carlton Fisk gave this team the character it needed to win. He was nowhere near healthy while he was here but he did add something. -
As good of a player as we may think of Eck, he is not even close to Everett as a hitter. A good piece for our infield as we have two guys that give us above average defense. He will not DH. Konerko will with Gload at first before Eck.

Let's just hope steroids are not involved. Remember these fellows came from SF the home of BALCO. -
WSCR 670AM, MLB.com: "El Duque" agrees to deal

Are these the same people that forced Maggs to go to Austria for surgery. I take the physical with a grain of salt but I love the signing. -
I posted this thought somewhere in these threads but want to go a little further. It appears that KW is trying to get major league arms and hitters on the roster. Think of the Bill Mueller, Miguel Cairo and Tim Wakefield's of the world. You are going to win by having a solid major league team 1-25 not the hot FA or two of the week. There is potential that on any given night Dye, Everett or Thomas is sitting on the bench late in the game and in NL parks, two of them. Now if all of these guys are ready to go, Pods can be a late specialist if needed. This team is looking to be very flexible and fluid, especially if a Cora/Eck is brought in. Hermanson fills the spot start if needed, something we have lacked since Sean Lowe and if a pitcher fails we can bail him out not continue to get pounded for 3 or 4 innings. We are looking to have solid hitters that will not be shut out by a rookie. We appear to be adding veterans that can play the game. Eckstein and 1 or 2 arms with experience to minor league deals and I think wea re going to be very good. Think of a bench of Everett, Harris/Eckstein/Crede, Gload, Burke, and Perez. We need a RH here and this is pretty damn good. Injuries are a part of the game and as long as they are not serious I think we are looking very good.

No s***, his wife is from Chciago? She goes home whenever he goes on a road trip and didn't want the long commute home (i.e. Chicago, I guess.) This was a reason he was balking at the trade.

He is 24/25 years old. Compare him to every other 24 year old and see where he rates. Anyone that thinks he sucks has not watched him pitch. When is winning 12 games a year and not missing a start EVER a bad thing. He is as solid a number three as there is there is no debatting that. Look at every single stat of #3 pitchers and see what they have done. -
WSCR 670AM, MLB.com: "El Duque" agrees to deal
Harry Chappas replied to Flash Tizzle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The thing is that the Sox are adding quality arms with experience. Teams do this all of the time, the Sox do not. What if this moves allows Contrearas or Hernandez to move to the pen at some point because McCarthy or some one else steps in. I take this move over overpaying for a three or four that is not better than garland and may not be better than any of our 5. There is a risk that Clement could falter as much as Hernandez and Llowe and hell even Pavano don't have solid track records for what they are being paid. Of the risks being taken by teams on starting pitching, this is low. A dead arm...see Buerhle in the beginning of 03, this is minor, see Clement the last two weeks of the last two seasons. When this guy is on, he is on for $2M, this could be a steal. If Contrearas and El Duque mesh......well we'll see. -

Amen, I have been saying this for the last two years that this rather than the record of the #5 is what is killing us. -

Who has a better rotation (1 through5) in the AL and on top of that has them set up for a few years? People will b**** to b**** I guess. -
With the non-tenders coming off the books where are we currently at and what openings do we have to fill with the cash?
-
Why? He is a decent 4/5th outfielder. If anything it makes sure Borchard is not an option. Rowand, Pods, Dye, Perez, Everett (Willie in an emergency) Solid, not great but solid. He is also a clutch RBI guy.

Sox claim Bobby Jenks off waivers from Anaheim
Harry Chappas replied to CSF's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Weren't there a world of posts on this site last year. The injury seems very minor and his attitude may be the issue. Worh a shot indeed. If nothing else he can sit in the pen and argue with the fans behind him. Sounds like this was the reason Meaux was moved off the 40 man. -
Jennie Finch is to me. As Neil Cotts is to Steff. I love ..............ah, what the hell is the aforementioned called? No wonder I failed English.

Why do you get to start your own Matt Clement thread for everyone to join? I opened this thinking there was something new. Nope just another Matt Clement thread.

My WSox Dream two signings for Next year
Harry Chappas replied to Southside hitmen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In the Sosa deal the money is not guaranteed and can therefore by reworked I believe in the ARod deal they want to forfeit real/owed money. If the cubs do not pick up the option, sosa does nto get hsi money. How much of the Hampton money are the Braves on the hook for? I think the Marlins and Rockies are covering a good chunck of it. -

Sorry to rain on your parade. Watch for Sosa for Jones and then Hudson signed using the Jones money long term. -
Angels have Colon.

Jay Jay the Jet Plane will rant about how cheap the Sox are for not offering $12M a year to settle all of their issues because they are a Huge market and loaded.
