Julio Cruz just came off the books last year. Think he was pissed he had a nice stream of income for 20 years? Think Connie Payton is pissed about deferred payments. Go ask James Rodney Richard if deferred payments are a bad thing? He was a childhood hero know he resides under a bridge (at least he did a year or two back.) Sorry I'll take a guaranteed $5-7M /yr for 20 years instead of $14M/yr for 5 yr. Scott Boras won't do this becasue he can invest better then a guaranteed annuity. Although No Tippin Pippen thought he had a guy that could do this to. DEFERRED PAYMENTS ARE NOT A BAD THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My aunt used to work for the Sox team neurosurgeon, I am not joking. He didn't make a living off of this but he would get great seats from time to time. The team podiatrist is a doctor that does good woork and they trust. Frank probably saw him because he has a foot problem, dah. It is up to Frank and whoever to see whomever they would like but the team has its'guys they trust. It goes back to the whole controvery of the Raiders team doctors doing some shady crap and players using their right to see and do whatever they choose. Remember when the guy on the Bears went in for cosmetic surgery on his knee and the doctor cut his ACL. Not sure why I typed this but this whole story makes Maggs look like he is being fed crap by his beloved agent on what to say. I see Maggs getting a deal around what Dye got.

GREAT POST!!!!! Saved me a bunch of typing.

Sox did NOT give Maggs the Veinna surgeon's name.

Like I posted yesterday, KW nneded to refute the Boras claims. If a player did this to the cub all hell would break lose. Post the s*** that Greg Couch wrote. I get the feeling the writers in this town are oblivious to the real world. I guess that is how Sosa becomes an icon and Thomas a whipping boy. -
If Everett, Dye and Thomas give us 108 games each we have a solid nucleus with the three. This is a nice solid pick-up nothing earth shattering but imagine if we get Edgar. The bad news we are not looking for a 5th starter Grilli and Schoenweis are the options. I guess a healty Schoenweis.

Dustin Hermanson Signed by the White Sox

This fills out the bullpen and rather nicly I might add. I believe at the end of the season he was the Giants bullpen and pitched 2-3 innings every day. Can someone please post his IP for the last two weeks of the season. The Giant pen was a disaster and he was relied on solely to bail it out. For God's sake this is a minor pickup and people b**** and moan like we picked up Rob Beck. The guy has ability and that is wht we need in the pen. He has a quality arm. I think this move is better than what the division favorite Tigers spent on Percival. Also for those that like to comapre us to the cub, they were looking to bring him in. -
What did they think he was going to do with the doctors name. If I ask you for the name of a good dentist do you not not think I need dental work. not that I beleive Boras but it is quite a spin. Now, the no work-out thing. I do not get that either. KW should respond though to this. If the Sox were affiliated with this doctor, I am not sure what to make. Also doesn't it seem odd how the medical staff is working now a days. Rush sure paid enough but not quite sure they are looking all to good.

If he hits the open market, Boston will pick him up to replace Varitek. Unless we trade for him, there is no use discussing it. Cards would also look into him.

This changed my thoughts on the matter.... I guess but I can still not comprehend it. How long has then been a disease? Not to sound like a fool, but I never really heard of it until recently, although I may not have been paying close attention.

Perez, Wells, and Garland are a pretty good base for a rotation. I do not think there is a chance in hell KW gives Garland to the Pirates for kendall. Redman and Rhodes are so over paid it is scary. Pit will not take on these two and pay money for Kendall. Kendall is overpaid but he is still productive. Bynes name gets thrown around here. This is a guy that Oakland would have to throw in as well as a young pitcher to get Kendall.

How many guys have not missed a start in three years and have double digit wins each year? Greg Maddux is going to make $10M the next two years for doing about the same thing Jon Garland does. I am not comparing Maddux to Garland but at $3.4M for a pitcher that wins over ten games a year is something to not hate the GM about. I guess we should go get Cory Lidle. The problem with Jon Garland is everyone thinks he should be a stud already. Compare wins by guys his age and again tell me where he has failed. He is young and getting better but for some reason not as quickly as the White Sox and overzealous fans. I suppose you would rather have Javier Vazquez at $8/yr.

This was covered last year when the Sox did the same thing. It is called premium tickets and I agree with it 100%. I bet they sell out all of these games at these outrageous prices. Now what is the price of a Tuesday game against the Royals. It is the simple theory of Supply and Demand. The price of the good games go up but people will still buy them. The games that no one goes to, stay the same.

I am interested in Jessica Simpson. Dollars to doughnuts I don't get her. This talk would irritate me if it weren't for the fact there is nothing else to talk about.
-
Not to get to involved here but if Garland is our number 5, who is our number 4? I assume there is an assumption being made that we are going to pick up a 3/4 type pitcher thus bumping garland to 5? Should that pitcher be Clement or Lowe, fine but I get teh feeling any FA brought in will be slated as 5 to begin with making Garland our number 4.

I just kind of glanced at Beltran's stats and although they are nice, I didn't really see the monster year. Defensivly and speedwise he is tops but for $20M I would think that his numbers would rival someone like Thomas in his first few years. For $20M you should get a perenial MVP candidate, especially if you are the White Sox giving out the money. I am thinking 90's Griffey or Bonds, total package and awesome in every respect. Sorry but for $20M let the Yanks or someone else have him. I would love to have him but I get the feeling 3 years into it, we would feel the way Boston does/did about Manny Ramirez and Manny is a hitting machine. Beltran had a great playoff but I wouldn't target him that is for sure. His career OPS is under .900, not worth $20M.
-
Somebody correct me if I am wrong but you can only give a team $1,000,000 in a trade. You can agree to pay part of a contract given up (i.e. the yanks can not just give the Royals $10M for Mike Sweeney.) In the nicest manner possible. I hope the offseason fictious trades are not all this bad. Giving Lee/Konerkoand $10M or whatever it is, is just plain silly. Now back to lurking in silence.

I heard from some place not sure where that the injury is identical to that which Bo Jackson suffered in his hip. Has anyone else heard this???

First off he has a great head of hair. If he played for the cub it would be a WGN segment. He isn't here to produce that is for the inept Crede, Valentin, Uribe and Harris. Whatever Davis and Perez give us are bonuses, the aforementioned nitwits are what are killing this team. Imagine if Davis can turn it around. How fleeced would Seattle be, if the Carols Guillen deal isn't bad enough. Trade Guillen sign Aurillia. Call him up and lets do more buisness.

This deal was in the works back when Brown went down and he was going to come for ML talent and be placed in our pen. Since that time ELO became expendable. I pointed out around the AS break that I thought Torre had an unusual trust in ELO. Now I get it. The Yanks traded for a two time All-Star wheather the second time was deserving or not.

Here we go with my little thoughts. It is easy to manage when you are winning. Ozzie ain't looking good as long as Borchard keeps showing up on the lineup daily. Our pitchers Marte, Cotts and Politte especially are unable to throw strikes consistently. Why will guys that can't hit look to get hit by a pitch if need be (see Koskie and today Higginson,) but we act lihe the ball will explode if it hits you. Crede is awful. NO RANGE WHATSOEVER and that pop out display today should earn him a trip somewhere, anywhere. Oh wait then Uribe would have to play and Valentin. I think ole KW needs to realize that stats do not win games. There were 5 sure outs in this lineup yet our only .300 hitter does not play daily. Let's not resign Ordonez and try and get rid of Thomas so we can watch everett, Jimenez, Uribe and the other useless s*** KW is going to throw at us. Sorry folks, we saw this last year and will continue to do so in the future. I would like nothing more than to be positive but we just finished July hitting under .230 as a team. Blame whatever you want but .230 is .230. That is 9 guys averaging .230.
-
We still have no hitting, defense or common sense. I like this trade but what would it have cost us to make a run a Nomar. Valentin is better then Alex Gonzalez. This trade has really no impact on this season.
-
Can anyone help in finding a site that can give the White Sox Top Ten list going back a few years to see how guys have panned out. I remember most prospects that were untoucables that never panned out and would like to see something going back a few years, (i.e. Ruffcorn, Liefer, etc.)
-
The heroic endings of Valentin and Crede would not be issues if they did anything during the game to produce. Each are hitting around .240 which causes the game to be tight and they produce at the end after causing us to lose the two or three games when they go 0-4 with 3 K's. IF Borchard homers tonight and wins the game 3-2 because of it, is he now a "leader." The leader of an underachieving team for the 4th straight year is kind of like being the leader of Enron. The ungodly amount of pop-ups that this team continues to hit without being able to foul off good pitches year after year leads to our continued failure.

Ozzie shows again why he is not a very good manager. Why is Uribe playing today over Rowand in the first place.
