  1. I think Burke was brought up for his bat/position. Doesn't he have decent experience at the ML level? I may be wrong. Isn't he an AAAA prospect?
  2. Try doing something for yourself rather than b****ing and moaning and blaming others. Are you brain dead? I'm obviously doing something for myself with gathering votes to get the policy changed. And only a loser would become a season ticket holder for a team that hasn't won a WS in nearly a century now. It's not a logical option. No.. I'm not brain dead at all. But you obviously have some issues from the logic you're attempting to justify in this thread. And only a "loser" would wait until the last minute and whine like a baby that he can't get a ticket. BTW guys.. I have 2 extras for tonight.. who needs 2? I could bring the boy but at 2 he doesn't find the field and game more entertaining than running up and down the ramps. Wife gets to go tonight and I get tomorrow and/or Wednesday.
  3. And to you season ticket holders ... a BIG WIDE :fyou. When the team is s***ty in years to come because we still can't support a 70MIL payroll because of ASS- like you I'll be sure to throw your pompous exclusive vote up your ass! Hey f*** you! The reason we don't have a fan base is becasue assholes like you sit at home and wait for a pennant race then b**** and f***in moan how there are no good seats left. If you went earlier and bought the seats, they are half price all of the time now, you wouldn't have this problem. I understand the constraints of money but don't you dare blame the people that spend and in may cases lose money on their team. I am using two unused tickets for a Tampa game and turning them in tomorrow and will have s***ty seats but I will be happy there are 30K+ fans there. Enjoy your miserable thoughts.
  4. Fernando Vina is a FA and the same age. The Cards may make a run at him. As well as the Dodgers, Texas, and any other team that wants a 2B.
  5. What are you going to do with LD access if you don't have a seat? I agree with this policy and will enjoy a big crowd and and s***ty seat both tomorrow and Thursday. The overcowding of the LD pisses me off. The UD is not bad as long as you are in the first ten rows.
  6. There are too many balls that drop in wheather bloopers, or in the gaps, and seeing eye singles. This stems from our over-all lack of team speed and quickness, nothing ever "gets tracked down," this is where these perceptions come from and I beleive it to be true. It is not errors, it is lack of range from just about everyone.
  7. The Tub of Goo had one good outing....oh wait wrong thread. I like Danny Wright and pull for him. I think he is better served in the pen as a Gagne sort but I would give him another shot at starting and wish Garland, Buerhle and Wright could have nice careers here.
  8. I believe our problem is not lack of ability but lack of fundamentals, I think it has to do with our guys wanting to hit the first pitch and not look for something to do something with. The prime example was Derek Lowe struggling and us having second and third and no outs. We end the inning on two pitches (Thomas IW in between,) on Lee and Ordonez trying to do something without thinking about it. Ordonez did it again later but the ball snuck under Nomar's glove. Situational hitting and bunting are disgusting. A manager with baseball sense will put Thomas behind Ordonez because Thomas will make a guy work. This was why he was walked twice, not because he is a better hitter. Thomas was going to make Lowe make a pitch to beat him. Ordonez will not. We get way to overanxious and overswing. Lee, Orodnez and Valentin are all living proof of this.
  9. Now I have only been watching for twenty years but I feel that the White Sox have below average managers because they will not pay. I will also point out for a second time today what Johnny B. has done on the northside of town. I feel the cub won three games in that series because of the win mentality. We just lost two games because we have the show up and give it a shot mentality. Look at the numebrs for the Boston starters they beat us with pitching, mostly bullpen, something that has been fried for them. If bringing Marte in AFTER Ortiz homered is not the dumb ass move of they year, somehow having Willie Harris bat with two outs and the tying run on third would be. How about two lefiteis sitting in the pen when Ortiz homered to win the game. That was pure genius. I won't rehash the Neil Cotts situation or the Sunday afternoon in Seattle. This is not the first time I thought Manuel was throwing the game. Sorry but the guy was schooled in the 2000 playoffs and will be again before the weekend is over. Keith Foulke never should have been removed as our closer last year, Josh Paul on the playoff roster, Julio Ramirez, Thomas going to DH while he was red hot. I like the homers but look at the K's, homering is nice for fans but doesn't help win ballgames. Why do we never pinch hit for Alomar or Olivo late in games? Removing Garland in the Kansas City game after Crede gave us the lead. Sean Lowe being run out of town. There are many more negatives tehn positives. We are in first place for a couple of reasons, our division is a f***ing joke and we have possibly as good of talent as any in baseball. Our weaknesses are no greater than any other team. Why should Manuel be fired, one reason, our record against the Detroit Tigers. If we play them at the same clip as the rest of the league, we are 6 games up. We have lost 7 times to possibly one of teh worst teams in the history of baseball. The Twins have lost to them once in two years. The Twins won the other day by playing hard, we lost in the same situation becasue we are soft, as lead by our manager.
  10. JM is the biggest reason to believe we will not. As much as I hate dusty baylor, the cub stood up and came back and handed it to the Cards, we could use some of this moxie. This is why hoping and praying is all we have.
  11. If every team had two it would be the top 60 one is good especially number 1. Look up north to the sacred land of blue chip prospects, I would think they would have at least 5.
  12. Can we please leave this guy alone? What is it with you people anyway? Are you messing with Colon because he once played for the s***ty Indians? I don't hear nearly as much venom directed at Burlymon or Garland who both have disappointed this season as well. Theyre white. Enough said. It is not about race, geez, Corg defends Valentin and Thomas to no end. I just think he is getting old and set in his ways. He defended KW to no end and it ended up blowing up in his face as he defended Ritchie to the death. Now he wants to do the reverse to Colon. This thread went on too long last week but hey whatever makes him happy. He is also mad because Colon told him to get lost in espanol.
  13. You really should do this for "Partridge Family" Mark Buerhle. Oh I forgot it is a money issue, no weight, no intensity yes that is it, it is an intensity issue. How'd your man thomas do after tinkering around with Colon's aluminum bat. About as good as the Tigers did using wood against Buerhle. Now that performance Friday, that was a stand up job.
  14. I only saw it on the ticker. Wow that is huge. And the cub b****ing about the zambrano no-hitter was a big topic of conversation. f***in cubs.
  15. His error in the fifth cost St. Louis Simontachi 15 up, 15 down, now the game is tied.
  16. 33, and the olympic tragedy aws never covered this crazy 10 days later. Come on if I have to hear one more time about Eric Heiden, Mark Spitz or Dan Jansen falling, I am going to puke. Edwin Moses is making a run at the Athens games, no pun intended, he is serious. I thought the article was going to tell of his passing, away that is, not the competition like in '81.
  17. Jim McKay and the Up Close and Personal segments are/were awesome. That is why they have 24 hour coverage, or close to it for the Olympics. Those athletes are usually one time things and the story is usually pretty good. They used to be about promoting the innocence and achievement in athletes, Eddie the Eagle being the exception. Now an Up Close and personal on Kobe in the Athens games would make me cringe. It just seems that with ESPN having four networks along with ABC, everything is about promotion and not sport. It seems that recently it is out of control. A case in point the story about....ah crap I forget his name but the lineman the was hit by Sapp. I thought it was cheap shot and they went on about the rehab which was all fine and dandy but the feeling I got was this was the beginning of a hype campaign for the Packer/Buc game in November. The hit was clean and although I did not agree with it, it is football.
  18. I was speaking of his fathers death and the national media attention.
  19. Nothing like taking the high road ah Larry.
  20. I pointed this out last week. Frank Thomas went through the same thingon a personal level but there was no media coverage. I believe the media attention is just ESPN trying to take a different angle on sports. Highlights and updates are no longer the main objective. They are beginning to try and advertise sports as a docudrama, as reality television instead of objective sports reporting. Kobe, Barry, etc.
  21. The best thing about this is the best hitter in baseball is some how right there in the running for a homerun crown. Whose personal tragidies did not lead off Sportscenter and whose resolve and focus will make him a favorite of mine and for many sox fans for decades to come. Sorry if I am getting emotional but I just hope Frank finds the spotlight he so greatly deserves. Playing first flawlessly in Ocotober for three days will show voters he is not purely a DH.
  22. Not with your Chicago White Sox!!!!!!!!!!
  23. That was my point not may people if any like JM and in St. Louis a little less than not many appear to like LaRussa. LaRussa's history keeps his job pretty safe. Dusty Baylor was not liked at all in SF. My point was that Tony is not as loved as the national scene would think, by the hometown.
  24. I am in total agreement with you.
  25. Buerhle is a finesse pitcher. JM likes to select teams that Buerhle won't face in the regular season to pitch against in Spring Training to limit the "look" other teams get. Is it possible that JM thinks we will make the postseason and in a few weeks the Yanks,a very savy hitting team would have an edge they would not get if they saw Buehrle yesterday. Just another idea into the JM thought process and soemthing that dare nto be talked of in the media.
