You guys make him sound like Chan Ho Park, Darren Driefort, or Jamie Navarro. Take money out of the equation and what is the difference between Bartolo Colon and Mark Buerhle? I am saying this as I think they make great #2 pitchers behind CY Loiza. Not trying to bum rap anyone but the view of Colon is pretty jaded compared to the fact he and Buerhle have pretty similar stats, assuming Colon LOSSES tonight.
-
On thomas slam, how many guys were on via the walk. See the Seattle Mariners, the more you make a pitcher work the better your chance of getting to him.
-
Well, a loss will give him the same record as Mark Buerhle and if he doesn't give up to many runs, they could have the same ERA. Hope this makes the remainder of your day feel good.
-
Is Mark retiring after this season? Is he being traded to the NL? He is 24 not 44 there will be plenty of opportunity in the future. If the extra day of rest gets us 6 better starts the next month, enjoy the day of rest. If we were ten out I would agree with his point.

Padres will do the same thing the Pirates are doing right now in three years. Remember when the stadium windfall was going to save the Tigers, Pirates, and Reds. Seatlle did it right by wisely spending their money to build a winning product. The Padres are now to be looking at signing Maddux in the offseason.

AL CY Young = Foulke (sorry); Loiaza or Hudson if they go lights out AL MVP = Ichiro/Maggs/Some Yankee = = Delgado if nobody carries their team NL MVP= Bonds (sentimental vote now as well) Pujols if the Cards win NL CY Young = Prior; Ortiz; Gagne; Smoltz All of these races are open depending on the last month of the season. Whichever player stands out in the next 5 weeks wins it.

The guys we have picked up are have an impact on our team, that is why they cost us good players. Sullivan, Alomar and Everett could have been three of the better acquisitions. Remember we have had two of them for over half a season.
-
Depends how many poeple are with you. 10 guys in Cleveland, i wore jersey and hat. With the wife at KC, hat only. Bronx, alone, subtle tennis clap for the Sox in Nike shirt and Islanders hat.

I lost my head over that story. Kind of disturbing.
-
Let's see what unfolds over the next 5 weeks. We may looking to run him out on a rail by the end of the month. Right now I think he and Valentin can add soemthing over the next two years. If Reed and Rowand step up we need defense and smart players, we could have Robbie as a shell of himself. Reed-Lee-Thomas-Ordonez-Konerko(Rowand)-Valentin-Crede-Olivo-Alomar The whole thing will boil down to budget. What we can spend will be spent. An increase from this year may be in the cards and it will go Garland and Buerhle. The more games we play the more revenue we get the increased liklihood we will have a larger payroll.

We have lsot to the Tigers six times and twice by scores of 1-0 nothing is guaranteed with this tem.

Danny Wright should start. I really like how Cotts looked the other night but when every game counts, we could be in trouble. Unless Cotts reinvents himself in the next three days, Thursday could be a long game. As was pointed out in this thread. The Yankess will make him throw strikes and if he can't do that he will not last into the second. Mike Mussina is not going to give us much. This game looks like a disaster waiting to happen. The Yankees and Mariners are notorious for making pitchers worka dn throw strikes. Nothing agaisnt Neil he has done a nice job but he is over his head here. Detroit would have been good work for him.

And I will have to say that Hahn is getting quoted in the papers way more often than ever before... That is becasue Episode III comes out next Memorial Day, man I loved Attack of the Clones.

Also the site that announced the PTBNL got that stats wrong so it is possible he isn't the guy. -

You can't just snap your fingers and get whomever you want. If the Royals got this guy, the b****ing and moaning would be endless and then there would be a post about who the Royals gave up and why can't we make this deal. Sullivan is comparable to Jeff Nelson and the Yankees got gave up a major league closer that pitched in the World Series to get him. Take a look at Jeff Suppan's numbers with the Red Sox, last three starts 0-1 8.82 and the guy they gave up, (Freddy Sanchez,) was a guy we would have traded Colon for a couple of months ago on this site. -
Randy Myers.

If someone claimed Konerko they would be stuck with him and that big contract, if the Sox don't pull him back. If someone claims Loiza the Sox pull him back, no harm no foul. If no one claims Garland, then the Sox are free to trade him for J.D. Drew. See how this works it is a major game of cat and mouse. Without knowing the exact details of a player, a team may not want to claim them, (i.e. Sullivan.) If you remember the Padres blocked Atlanta from getting that lefty a few years, they claimed him and were stuck with $9M salary from a guy that couldn't pitch, ouch. I can't remeber his name but he was with the cub.....

or Matt Guerrier. -
Koch will stay on the DL until the rosters expand thereby giving us 26 players to pick from to add to a roster in October if an October roster is necessary.
-
The one guy that ran on the field and didn't touch anyone, got 30 days in prison. He was out there this season in the game before the ump was attacked it wasn't Dybas but one of the Polish dudes they had in the paper. I get the feeling Dybas is going to get some serious time.
-
I am thinking about taking my two year old but the bases....no way he will stand there and clog up the line and then take off toward rightfield. Security will probably flog him there and he will spend the next 30 days in Whitesox timeout, watching the cubs.

Breaking News: Sox acquire Scott Sullivan

Sullivan is essentially a free agent at the end of the season. Although I think KW gets outmaneaved in some instances the only trade that has cost us is the Ritchie trade. We have Pachero because Colorado gave up on him and we got him for absolutely nothing, same thing for Damaso Marte. I love how many people on this site think we should be picking up players for nothing. The Giants gave up Ortiz and Livan Hernandez and although they running away with the NL West, these were very questionable moves. I remember reading that giving up Joe Valentine would be the end all for the White Sox, well Joe Valentine is now with the Reds and was a throw in for Jose Guillen. Somehow Neil Cotts was a nothing in the deal and now he is in our rotation and if he was traded this whole site would be up in arms. I think Alomar was a steal even if Royce Ring becomes the next Gramhe Lloyd. everyone wants us to get Bonds and A-Rod and what not but we are not suppossed to give up any minor leaguer that has any ability at all. Other than Kip Wells, whom I never really liked, KW has not cost us anything and somehow has a rotation and lineup that thas made me interested. In 2000 I did not think we had a chance becasue our starting pitching was pathetic. This year I am not sure what is going to happen but I like the team we put out there everyday. After this season teh A's will have none of the players from the Foulke trade, we will have all three, two of them on teh major league roster. Sounds like a good trade to me. -

I think Sox fans are gonna fall in love with this guy. I still wonder who we gave up, but no way in hell did they gave up Borchard...I can guarantee that. I expect someone like Ginter or Adkins to be gone. I have a feeling the player could be Koch. He is on the DL and can finish the season and if he pitches as he could be worth the money. The thing is, I think there has to be something wrong but with the whole scenario but what if it is KW circumventing the rules of the DL thus allowing us to have Koch for the remainder of the year, get help for a pennant run and then drop a player on the active roster after the season. We also got cash in deal. This is bizzaro world KW compared to last season. -

Bobby Hill was on the 40 man roster and was traded to the Pirates as the PTBNL in the Loften trade. -
Pull up records of the AL West in the early 90's I believe we had the second best record in baseball and missed the playoffs. In the end they don't look at the records just as long as you fulfill the requirements for postseason play.
