  1. I don't think Rivera was part of that trade. I thought it was Nick Johnson, Soriano, Mendoza and Ted Lilly. Instead they traded the left fielder I forget his name (Glenallen Hill?) for Ben Ford. Nice move but the goal is to fill seats not win games. I am glad they didn't make that trade as they would be going after Vlad now.
  2. NEVER PITCH WHITE IN A CLOSE GAME. Play your best defensive players on astroturf against a hot team with good offense and a ground ball pitcher on the mound. Tonight you put Graffy out there with Colon. Bunt, bunt, bunt and bench Konerko.
  3. So I am watching the news this morning on channel 9 and they had a little part of his speech on. His remarks were incredible as he stated to the reporter, "knock off the bulls*** this team needs me." He then went on to say, "I don't care how good THEY did, they need ME." There was no mentioning of how well they were doing and now they would go even further. Man this guy is a headcase. If anyone on the Sox said this it would be headline news. He was completly serious and pissed that someone would suggest this. He was also wearing a winter cap yesterday when it was 70 in the shade. Friggin joke.
  4. Assuming the idea that KW is no longer running this team, who is? We need someone to determine the direction (pick up a CF or dump Colon, Loiaza, Lee, Thomas, Ordonez, Valentin, Konerko, White, Koch, etc.) of this season. I think we are treading water and still have hope although it is fading fast. Why our only legitimate defensive player was not playing on astroturf is for another topic altogether. A decision needs to be made as the fan support will soon be nil if the jackass owner doesn't do something about it soon. HSC posted that JR was in his box with a GM from another team over the weekend. This is a huge concern in regard to tampering if KW is being pushed aside. Unless the GM was Hendry and JR wanted Schu back. This scares the hell out of me as Schu isn't much either. Although speaking to a GM to try and pry and employee away would make sense as they come cheaper that those capable of doing the job, (i.e. Dan Duquette.)
  5. My point on him was that we have him for next year realatively cheap if he keeps this up. Maybe he is like a Moyer type that is figuring out how to pitch in the majors. If he falls apart we will be 10 out in a hurry. He is only 31. Look at Matt Clement he is the same type of pitcher that is justing getting it together. I think he is 30 as well. Also note Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling. I am not putting him in this class but he was always pretty highly touted and may do good things for us. My basic point was to try and lock up Colon and Buerhle as some sort of package and deal with Loiaza at some other point. We are not serious and we will not do this. Next years rotation: Buerhle, Loiaza(assuming we pick up the $2M option,) Garland, Wright, and (Rauch, Stewart, Cotts, etc.) This does nothing for me. And will finally do me in on the season ticket plan.
  6. I think the sox need to do everything in their power to sign Bartolo Colon. I would try to lock up Buerhle with a huge fourth year of a four year contract and then offer Bartolo a three year deal for whatever he wants. This keeps Colon, Loiaza, Buerhle, Konerko, Lee, Jimenez, and Ordonez locked up for next year. A good GM could fill in the pieces and I think KW is gone. What we need to do is offer Buerhle like $2M for the next 3 years and then a fourth year player option for $20M. I really like our roation if Buerhle can come around.
  7. Now I can go and shove the Carol Slezak article up her ass. I am not sure why this has pissed me off so much but a whole inside cover story on Jim Parque is ridiculous. The talentless drivel that is Chicago sports reporters. Maybe now she will write about Fred Manrique tearing up the Hondurus league.
  8. Junior Spivey and Mark Grace for Paul Konerko. Send Paul home, I think I would miss him though. Gracie could sit and smoke in the parking lot withe the tailgaters. I like it.
  9. They get Hudson, Zito and Mulder we'll see what they are made of.
  10. Better lock your car, sorry that was a low blow but I had to.
  11. Ward is/was KW's guy. I think she's a bit confused. After the Parque article I put Slezak as one of the worst sports reporters in this town and there are plenty of bad ones. The Times seems to be trying to give the Sox as bad a publicity write as possible. Case in point, cubs being road weary after 4 in Milwaukee and 4 in St. Louis. This are not very far travels. This paper blows. Slezak is completly clueless. She should go to the society papers or write for the Onion. That was what I thought of when I read a full article about Parque having pitched 6 good innings.
  12. Konerko/Garland for Mora/Gibbons/Ponson
  13. I think with Loaiza and Colon we have enough starting pitching if we lock them up for a couple of years. We really should lock Colon up long-term if we were serious, we are not. I really think the Buerhle situation needs to be dealt with ASAP and until the KW situation is resolved we will continue to flounder. I think Konerko really needs to go. I think Buerhle/Konerko for some major league talent could help. Buerhle is the key to the remainder of this season. I think he is cracking under the pressure of performing for both arbitration and successful playoff run. He is the key guy as he is jsut getting pounded. I don't f***in know what I am talking about I just want to be able to watch them again, christ. I am about to give up hope as long as Rick White is alive.
  14. I have been reading this and the MLB Board for some time and I will admit this team is not very entertaining and really tough to watch. Our best pitcher is looking like he wants us to realease him. We can not hit a lick and everyone wants to tear this team apart. Being the true Sox fan that I am, it makes my day when the cubs lose. I just see they lost three of four to St. Louis. Now I do not follow them nor do I pay any more attention to them than any other MLB team but by default via the Chicago press I get the impression they are running away with their division. Well they have a worse record than the Twins. I did not see much of teh Sox after Friday's game but it appears that we easily could have won Saturday and Sunday. I know the season is wearing on and we are spinning our wheels but I really think/hope that the next two weeks can be a defining moment if we can get on a roll. The only guys right now that need a push in that direction are Buerhle, Konerko and Crede. Tonight could be huge for Wright as Toronto is a good club. I still have faith.
  15. I saw the first two innings Friday and Saturday that was all. I read the Times and spoke to somebody that told me the defense cost us and the Twin defense helped them win. Going into the seies I was hoping they played well and didn't care about wins and losses, it is still to early. If they play well they'll win. The next two weeks are huge. After this point our schedules will be comparable and then we can look at things. Early on the Twins caught the Yankees when they were hot, we got Seattle and Oakland. Now we get some winnable games and need to do something. Also, I think Buerhle's agent needs to rethink his situation as each start is costing him huge $$$$'s. I feel bad for him but it may lead us to signing Colon long-term and I like this. I really like Colon.
  16. It goes hand-in-hand with fighting in hockey. Those that play at that level know the emotion and tactics to get into someone's head. It appeared that ordonez was hit on purpose as he should have had about 6 RBI and was getting comfortable. Wheather he was hit on purpose or not you need to make sure that the other team, today it is Minnesota knows that if you hit one of our guys, your guys better be ready. There is a comfort factor in the box and an intimidation. In Ordonez mind getting hit will still be in there and may affect him a tad. Well now the opponent needs to have the same apprehension. Look at Sosa and his funk since getting hit. He can say the beaning was not the problem but no one really knows, not even him. I agree 100% with accidental thngs, (i.e. every time Eckstein gets hit.) But when your best (Ordonez and Thomas,) get hit becasue teh pitcher is trying to make a statement, well then, this is needed.
  17. It is the truth. They were all packing in last night in the parking lot by gate 4. They were all pretty excited. I know a lot of people flying there, too. If it weren't for having to help with the pool and the deck this weekend I would have gone too! This is what I have to do all weekend. I was hoping for rain so i could get out of dodge but then I would have to paint my kitchen anyway.
  18. In true bravado fashion Colon smirks at Olivo, Olivo smirks at Colon Colon states, "It's hittin time."
  19. I don't think the Orioles are all that great but Helling and Ponson are respected major leaguers and worthy of giving our hitting some credit.
  20. I used to live in Tinley and moved to Beverly. I got off the train at 6:30, ran in the house got picked up and was in my seat with two Kosher dogs, brat and two beers by 7:05. I picked up two tickets in the lot for $15/each. 11th row behind the Orilole dugout. Steff if you heard someone berating Joe Crede after grounding into a double play that was me. I went to the can (6 beers later) after the 8th and missed the fun of the ninth. The commute is a breeze and the taxes on my home are a 1/3 of what they were. Ten $1 hot dogs from gravely voiced hot dog vendor - $10 Two Super Tacos and Super Nacho - $10 Two beers from vendor that never get warm (actually colder the longer they sit there) - $10 Watching Colon drill Jr. and Frank show he is the man - Priceless Let's kick mansandwich's (Twins 1st base jagoff) ass!
  21. I meant to go off on a tirade about a one page article that carol Slezak wrote about him. This f***ing article was longer than anything I could remember seeing about an actual Sox player. I wrote to the Times asking them who their audience was on this. He must have photos of her fooling around or something. I may have been out of line by telling her that nobody in Chicago thought he was worth a contract at anything other then AAA. Thanks Carol but I'll Loiaza over Jim Parque. She gives women a bad name.
  22. I can not read the link but in the Times yesterday it reported he said we played like All-Stars one day and like we are dead the next or something along these lines. Isn't that what we have been saying for a couple of years now?
  23. Stats right now are all we have and Frank Thomas is hands down our best hitter stats or no stats. Our hitting is pathetic stats tell me this. Jimenez is having a decent year stats tell me this. If guys are not producing we see this in their stats. We are hitting under .250, Jimenez is hitting over .300, am I missing soemthing. If the guy is a dick maybe soembody should pick up their game then get in his face. I find it hilarious that guys are getting pissed at him because he is getting on them that they are not producing. Maybe just maybe some production from these guys (Valentin, Konerko, Lee, Crede, Ordonez,) would shut him up. I am ready to give on this team becasue they are the biggest group of f'ing crybabies around. Let's blame KW's meddling with the great JM (he is living on one half of a season.) Then the pitchers are not grooving them to our good hitters. f*** this play baseball and shove it up someone's ass don't sulk like a group of two year olds.
  24. I totally agree, his baserunning and defense are sub-par but he is doing the job at the plate, one of few that are. He was brought in to work the count and get on base both of which he is accomplishing. He was moved to a new position and is trying to learn it. He does remind me of Carlos but he seems to have a very good plate presence. I look at Willie Harris and he doesn't have a chance. Thomas .160 with RISP are keeping Jimenez from looking really good right now. Also he isn't the pop-up machine that Durham was.
