Grind out at bats, take pitches , protect with 2 strikes
Harry Chappas replied to tray's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I feel like I have been screaming about this every season for as long as I can remember. The White Sox never just fight off good pitches they ground out weakly or pop out. A hitter has a 7 or 8 pitch at bat once a game and maybe a 10 pitch at bat once a week. Other teams seem to have this in an inning and game. The at bats by Abreu and Vaughan on Thursday and Friday are the epitome of this approach. The White Sox swing at the first strike they see whether it's hittable or not. I am not sure any of them have the ability to recognize pitches and just going to the plate swinging. The at bat by Anderson in the 7th last night from your leadoff hitter typifies this. This organization has very poor baseball IQ. -
He crumbles under pressure sans 1 AB in Iowa.

Anderson didn't see a pitch close to a strike but yet was never ahead in the count. Guy need to get his personal shit together if he can't handle life.

That could be the dumbest I've read in a looooong time and I just tried to get a pitcher on IR in the game.

Why was VV not brought in to the game after the third. At 92 pitches Lynn should have been done. Lynn sucks BTW

Big game......come out flat....seems familar

Team is finally to a point where the lineup is fine regardless of who is run out there. I'd like to see Harrison play daily. The sporadic play of McGuire is rather odd to me. Vaughn has been slumping lately so Pollock and Jimenez playing above him against the good slider may have merit.

The problem with that area is it is rather inaccessible. I was going to go to a concert down there this past weekend and simply thought, it is too much work. I know the El is there and highways are close but the congestion is crazy. Also the stadium amenities suck worse than Solider Field.

4-4 and 3-5 while not ideal probably moves the needle neither way. While not happy with that, if they go into the break 4.5-6 GB there is still hope. Neither Cleveland or Minnesota are running away with the division.

I thought Sheets made an out in the 6th and went to cut the grass after pissing and moaning in this thread. Now I gotta go watch the 6th inning on.
-
You are surprised by this?
-
It is They are losing 3 games in 2 days
-
The horseshit offense does not allow that
-
Itll go Kelly 7th Foster 8th Banks 9th
-
Foster is terrible. There is no indication this team will score a run so can't waste Lopez graveman or Hendricks with no off days and DH.
-
I wish they took him out but pen is no sure thing
-
Not even competitive
-
Belt high fastball middle third....ground ball.....ugh
-
Fuck this team.
-
He's not suppossed to be needed to hit. He should play 2B and bat 9th every game. Mcguire and Moncada suck. Both should have hammered those pitches.
-
Why not call up Martin and move Kopech to the pen. With guys being unavailable daily and lot of bad pitchers in the pen makes most sense to me.
-
This offense is something. Tigers should have been thinking about position players pitching with Cueto rolling but nope offense shuts it down to save energy for playoffs Would be par for the course to blow it. Starters have given up 1 run or less in first 6 innings of each game.

I gave away my tickets. Perfect day for baseball. Last night was as well.

Pollock is a better player than Garcia. Its not a debate. Pollock is playing like crap but he can get back to his norm and is still better than Garcia at this point. Garcia has NEVER been good.....EVER. Pure insanity how he is handled compared to rest of the roster. The stupidity of this organization is surreal.
