  1. I love the endless stupidity of the Tappers and various "fact-checkers" on this issue. Really highlights how useless they are. A libertarian (Blahous) at a libertarian institute does a big study that, whoops, finds Medicare 4 All as actually proposed would save money! Trillions of dollars over a decade! When various politicians that support M4A point out that even a study done by someone ideologically opposed to M4A found it saved money, all of the "fact-checkers" rushed to rate this as "false" or "half true" because M4A doesn't save money based on an "alternative scenario" invented by Blahous but not advocated by any of the politicians.
  2. this district is nearly 60% hispanic and went big for Hillary in 2016 and the incumbent Republican retired. it was supposed to be a slam-dunk pickup. Florida Dems are a hot mess right now. Hopefully Gillum carries some of these down-ticket races and helps Nelson not blow his race, too.
  3. why would I bother when you're just going to dismiss it out of hand as a "false equivalency" so you can keep talking about how Bernie supporters stabbed Clinton in the back but it's perfectly okay that Clinton voters were much worse re: Obama in 2008?
  4. duder you brought it up first in the latest round of you whining about anyone to the left of garbage centrist/center right democrats at every opportunity.
  5. some people won't stop whining about "bernie bros" and how the left are traitors to the Democrats?
  6. Fewer Bernie supporters (at least percentage wise, I don't know total numbers) stayed home or voted for someone other than Clinton than the same situation for Clinton voters in 2008.
  7. Polling out of Texas is also not finding an uptick in voting enthusiasm among the latinx population, so that hurts his chances.
  8. Conservatives are also sending one hell of a message to teenage girls given that one of the defenses of Kavanaugh is "should we really hold 17 year old attempted rapists accountable??"
  9. Iowa 1st: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2018-midterm-election-forecast/house/iowa/1/ Abby Finkenauer (D) 55.4 29 in 30 (96.8%) Rod Blum (R)Incumbent 41.7 1 in 30 (3.2% Illinois 6th: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2018-midterm-election-forecast/house/illinois/6/ My guess is that there's just too much upper class tax cut beneficiaries in the district that are gonna keep voting R, but Casten does have a shot. One thing to keep in mind is that Illinois is gerrymandered by Democrats, so that does result in a whole bunch of suburban R votes being packed into one or two districts so that D's can more easily win the rest of them. Peter J. Roskam (R)Incumbent 51.8 7 in 10 (68.8%) Sean Casten (D) 48.2 3 in 10 (31.2%)
  10. Knee-jerk contrarians who were never and will never be Democrats or liberals but were just voting anti-establishment. But I believe that more Sanders primary voters voted for Clinton in 2016 than Clinton primary voters voted for Obama in 2008.
  11. They're also refusing to hear testimony from anyone else, even though she named Mark Ford as the other person in the room and I believe there are other witnesses that she told contemporaneously or at least a year or more ago about the incident that could bolster her credibility. But Republicans don't care. They only care about getting another partisan hack on the Supreme Court. That said, next Monday is still six days away, and we're only six days since the letter became public. A lot could happen. Worst case for the GOP, Kavanaugh does get pulled and they jam someone through in the lame duck session after the midterms. They have plenty of time to fill the seat without even having to worry about losing control of the Senate. I'm still surprised that Kavanaugh wasn't pressed on his $200k in credit card debt for "baseball tickets" that mysteriously disappeared last year. e: they are definitely going to move forward with a vote after Monday whether Ford testifies or not Also Kavanaugh's changing excuses, which definitely made no sense from the start, shoudl really lend weight to the idea that there's something serious and real behind these allegations
  12. She wants the FBI to investigate first, and of course Grassley would pull some bullshit like this:
  13. There's an entrance fee to the National Park if you're driving in. It's $25 per vehicle and it's good for a week. You could also park in Tusayan just outside of the park and take the free shuttle bus in. Then I don't think you have to pay anything. https://www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/tusayan-route-purple.htm Once you're in, there aren't any more fees to walk around, hike trails, take the shuttle buses, drive the rim road etc. There's a big vistor's center, several gift shops, some restaurants and snack places as well. There are ranger-led programs at scheduled times that can function as "tours" or at least guides with interesting information about the canyon, geology, history etc. There are helicopter tours out of Tusayan as well but those are $$$.
  14. Where did I indicate surprise there? I'm also not surprised that Grassley is attempting to hold a sham hearing/investigation into these allegations against Kavanaugh, but it's still shameless
  15. It was a completely different game then. In terms of modern football (post merger?) Cutler is the best. And yes that's sad. Trubisky is scared of throwing deep now.
  16. Not coming off of, facing sentencing in the near future!
  17. Gonna be the mid-2000's all over again. Dominant defense with hilariously bad QB play
