QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 01:24 PM) Except there is no racial overtone in my statement. It is all about economics. There aren't many rich people in prision, and there is a reason for that. Yeah, they can afford good lawyers. I couldn't decide whether or not to make that green. Who's the worse criminal: the 100 people who knock off a 7/11 for $1,000, or the one guy who commits some sort of accounting/ trading fraud and costs a company (and its shareholders) $10M?

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 11:54 AM) The first congress defined "Natural Born American" as being born to American parents in 1790 I believe. Being born on American territory and any military or diplomatic outpost is considered sovereign territory would be considered America in the eyes of international law. This is a BS thing. What about a person born to American parents in a foreign hospital? I'm pretty sure they count as natural born citizens as well.

She doesn't see the comparison? I'd say it was an identical situation. One of her unsolicited (I'll give her the benefit of the doubt) supporters made a racist comment. One of Obama's unsolicited supporters made racist comments. Is it that hard of a comparison to draw?

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 08:44 AM) The 30 FRM doesn't quite function with fed rate cuts. It has more to do with the notes of that time period... and right now the market would suggest that long term rates are going to go back up due to a lot of factors, but the biggest short term factor is inflation and the fed's going to have to bounce the rates back up just as fast as they have brought them down. Thanks for the explanation. I know that FRM's don't correlate directly with the Fed lending rate, but I was wondering what sort of pressures would be pushing them up. -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 08:01 AM) Yeah, but once you start moving a game here, a game there, it becomes a ripple effect on the schedule. Im not saying its gonna be catastrophic, I was just wondering about it. They cant really plan on a day-night doubleheader Cubs and Sox because the Cubs(or Sox if they are the early team) could go into extra innings, throwing the other game into flux. If you have a 1 PM game and a 7PM game, you'd be fine 99.9% of the time.

The fed keeps cutting rates, but I've been watching mortgage lines lately and 30 year FRM are up almost a point since January. Why are they moving up while the Fed is moving rates down? -

QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 02:19 AM) well, honestly, my post two pages ago may have been ignored, but it rings true. I thing this thread response encapsulated two things: 1) People didn't like being told they were dropout losers because they drank 2) trying to help out beast learn the values of person to person interaction I have friends that don't drink. BUT, they don't shy away from interaction. Parties aren't their scene and my fraternity and myself respect that, but they also are involved in a lot of things in campus. That is not a "in place of system", where you aren't drinking so you must do this instead, but, I think it is important in college to push yourself far more than academically and mix yourself with different groups of people for self growth. My greatest personal strides in college have not come from drinking, but from interaction with a diverse group of people (i was a summer welcome leader), and I feel it's important to building important social skills. That said, I work my ass off in school, do drink, do have fun, and resent a sentiment that because i do these things and get stupid on weekends I'm somehow inferior. My friend turned 21 tonight, I don't regret celebrating it. I spent more of my time in college building race cars than drinking.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 03:44 PM) For me, the racist overtones and such is bulls***. His "affiliation" with Louis Farrakan... now that's something I take more issue with, because of what Louis Farrakan stands for. If Obama stands for the same things (by association) then I have MAJOR issues with the man. Obama denounced the man as an anti-Semite last night. What more do you want?

Used Scions might be in your range. Several of my friends have them and haven't had any problems.

QUOTE(shipps @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 10:38 AM) I dont understand you guys being so critical of these chicks. They are both hot and very dooable.PA how could you say the blonde is ALRIGHT?Give me a flaw on that women. They're both ok. Nothing special. Better than the "average girl?" Sure. But not much.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 26, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) I saw them when they toured behind The Colour and the Shape. They were very good, a lot of energy. Yeah, Dave still has tons and tons of energy. Not sure how you do that night after night without some "performance enhancing" drugs. They did a pretty neat split-stage thing. There was the main stage located where most bands would set up at the Allstate. There was also this runway leading out into the middle of the floor with a large ring at the end of it. About half way into the show, a second stage, complete with drum kit, percussion section, pianos/ etc. lowered from the scoreboard into the ring. They all ran down there and played their acoustic stuff on this stage, which had a more 'intimate' feel than the main stage.

Saw the Foo Fighters last night. They put on a pretty good show.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Feb 26, 2008 -> 09:36 AM) Honestly, I think we'd all agree with YAS, it's just that i think blood got boiled by that instead of just saying you dont drink, you called out those who did and passed a lot of misinformed judgments about it. So that's what it comes down to - respect our decisions and we're more likely to respect yours ya know? I think that's a key here. There's definitely a "holier-than-thou" vibe coming through Beast's posts to me, and that's something that annoys me. Not as a drinker (it's been months since I've been drunk), but just in general. On the other hand, I have a friend who doesn't drink, but he also doesn't (outwardly, at least) judge everyone who does. He'll go to parties and have a good time. Hell, he's thrown some great parties. Comments like "I don't want to ruin my relationship with my girlfriend" just don't make much sense to me. Hell, the way I met my current gf (of 3 years now, and living together) was at a serious of parties that we were both pretty drunk at. I've been drunk without her around, and she without me, but we've never done anything to hurt each other or even had the thought to cheat/ fool around/ whatever. The desire to do that just aisn't there for me and alcohol doesn't magically bring them on.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 09:53 PM) Support who you want to in the primary. Support the nominated Democrat in the general. Why is that so hard to understand? Any strategy other than this will put John McCain into the White House. Not everyone just blindly follows one of the big two political parties. They earn my vote, I don't just give it to them.

QUOTE(The Beast @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 11:42 PM) Do people even remember what happened the night before if they are wasted? You have to be very, very drunk to black out.

QUOTE(AngelasDaddy0427 @ Feb 23, 2008 -> 08:38 PM) Obama has no chance against her. He will just end up being humiliated when he's swept the rest of the way and all the delegates supporting him change to Hillary because of that. She will lie her way to the nomination and everyone will believe it and eat it up because her last name is Clinton. Theres nothing Obama can do about it. You know, you could have said the same thing about Hillary after "Super Tuesday" and you would have had a good chance at being correct.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 03:24 PM) on FOX news right now: expert explaining that bad weather and natural disasters are God punishing us for having gay people and stuff. Seriously, this is a real segment on Neal Cavuto show. He's had like a 15 minute segment. lol And yet some people still wonder why others have a hard time taking Fox News seriously.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) Sweet. Our missile defense system still can't work in the rain. Hey, as long as they shoot missles at us when the sky's clear, humidity is low, the seas are calm, there's not too much wind ..... Ah, hell, it'll just take a few trillion to get it working right!
