  2. You gotta love Lockport...home of dumb criminals and fire-bombings.
  3. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 09:32 PM) How well does that work? The NFL is streaming the game live for free (go to nfl.com/live) -- but, like I said, the video is worthless for me. Maybe if someone has a great connection, I dunno. It was a little choppy, but watchable. I had it on as background noise mostly. It'd be irritating to watch for 3 hours, though.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 08:52 PM) So can any of you actually watch tonight's game? I watched part of it via SOPcast (it was actually the Armed Forces Network feed).
  5. "Hey! We got all this money over here. We'll just use that!" "Uh, boss, that's money's already being used for..." "Shut up! It's brilliant! Budget gap fixed!" Why does this state's government seem like its run by junior college drop-outs?
  6. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 12:06 PM) The issue is how it was handled. CNN knew who this guy was, that is why the gave him this big production during the debate. Not only did he get his video question on air, they gave him a microphone after the candidates answered so he could give a big long winded speech. Wtf? I want to see candidates answer tough questions, but I don't want those questions to be part of political operations for their opponents. CNN really messed up big time on this one.
  7. I've had the new Queens of the Stone Age in my car's CD player (6-disc) since it came out in June. I was disappointed by Wilco's, Ryan Adam's, and the Foo Fighter's releases this year.
  8. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 08:07 AM) I guess I have to explain this again, the know it all profane college kid doesn't comprehend. I said he had a declining K rate and, follow me closely now because I'm not sure you have the ability to understand this ... He used to be over a strikeout per inning guy and he's not any more. Get it? To be fair, there's a difference between being down from levels 5-6 years ago and declining. One implies lower-but-stable production while the other implies continuing degredation.
  9. I came away from this really, really disliking Romney. Just seems like a slicked-up politician with canned responses that don't actually say anything. I liked Rudy's, McCain's, and Huckabee's responses on some issues.
  10. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 11:11 AM) And it was just a routine burglary gone horribly awry, no? This story is really sad, regardless. That's the story given by Taylor's friends and family. The police haven't confirmed it, AFAIK.
  11. QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 07:44 AM) I run more miles per week than I drive and I do not own lawn to cut. In all seriousness, any Presidential candidate to make the statement, "U.S. will be independent of foreign oil in 10 yrs." or similar commands my respect. They'll get my respect if they have a solid, workable plan to acheive it. It's easy to make a statement.
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 05:55 PM) The #1 team in the country just gave up 50 points to an unranked opponent.... They'll still probably win Nope! A lot of those points came in OT, though. And the announcers are just dead silent on the air after the INT.
  13. Great throw for the TD. If that CB turns around, though, he could have easily swatted it away.
  14. My brother witnessed a fist-fight at Meijer over 20" TVs.
  15. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 11:49 AM) Why? Garland was gone after 2008 anyway. Cabrera is a nice upgrade on offense, has better range on defense with less of a gun compared to Uribe. The savings also allowed the Sox to sign Linebrink without increasing the payroll. VORP: Cabrera 31.7 Garland 26.6 WinShares: Cabrera 25 Garland 13 So is Cabrera.
  16. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) I'm not sure. My wife went out this morning for it all and is on her way back now. One of the main things we were after was the $80 Zune at Toys R Us. It's the 30GB one. That's a heck of a price for one of those things. I think she's pretty loaded down now though. If she didn't get one, keep an eye on woot.com. They've been having the 30GB Zunes on there for $79.99 + $5 shipping several times in the last month. I didn't see anything worth running out for. Office Max has some good deals on a few things, but the sale lasts all weekend.

    Snow Tires

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 06:28 PM) Ya. I have a g35 coupe and its pushing about 300hp in the rear tires. My regular tires are bridgestone potenzas and I have 19 inch rims. Not exactly a good combo in the snow. So I trade them out for 17inch wheels with blizzaks. Rides totally different and I already notice improved traction in the rain. Good tires can make or break a car.

    Snow Tires

QUOTE(mreye @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 08:09 AM) People still use snow tires? Wow! That'd be a real pain, but I think it'd be easier than switching my mower deck for the plw on my John Deere every fall and spring. It takes a couple hours and you have to guess the weather patterns - I've mowed as late as Dec 7 and as early as mid Feb. At least if you put the snow tires on a bit early you can still drive. You just look like a dork is all. Why would you look like a dork? They're just like any other tire, but with different tread patterns and rubber compounds.
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) As do I and all the Mexican nationals I know. But how much do we want to punish innocent Americans? Shall we seriously harm our agriculture industry? And it is also a misstatement to say all of Mexico believes a certain way. Most I know respect our laws, which is why they are puzzled that we are making it harder and harder for them to come across and visit family and friends like they have for generations. How long do we want our important industries propped up by cheap, illegal labor? If they have always respected our laws, then they've been crossing legally at border checkpoints. Are we making that harder than before?
  20. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 09:52 PM) And around and around we go... Step 1... Collect underpants! Step 2... ... *pause* Step 3... Profit! Illinois Government. Working for You!
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) I definitely have the same issues. Here's some more: -The AI isn't the same with the computer's defense and your defense. This is similar to what you mentioned -- their corners will make ridiculously good reads on the ball, jump routes -- they do it all. I'm lucky if my cornerbacks attempt to bat the ball down. I'm stuck on defense. Giving up 25-40 points is actually good for me, as I can usually manage putting up 40+. Zone doesn't work -- they just find that spot underneath the safeties. Cover two? I never run cover two anymore because any time I try to, they just run a slant route 25 yards over the middle of the field. Man-to-man has been only slightly more successful, mainly because -- as I mentioned -- the computer AI for the human's defense is absolutely putrid. -The computer's defense seemingly makes a big hit on every f***ing pass play, usually jarring the ball loose for an incomplete pass, and it pisses me off that my safeties don't do the same thing. They always do that quick undercut of the legs immediately after my guy catches the ball, resulting in an incompletion. -I hate how the computer knows if you're going to run. For example, sometimes I'll have third and short and go goalline. I'll call for a play action and see that the computer is playing nickel despite the fact that I've stacked everyone inside. Or, perhaps a better example -- I'll split out four wide receivers with the intent of running a draw, only to see that the computer is playing 4-3. Come on, seriously -- I send four wideouts on the field and you're going to counter with a 4-3? Give me a break. I b**** so much about this game yet I always come back. I also understand that I'm Northwestern so in the end, my 5-3 record is actually quite realistic -- I shouldn't be 8-0. But it's how I got there -- I beat Ohio State at the Big House (on Heisman), yet lost to Eastern Michigan at home (got killed -- 52-17). that's why I usually get sick of football video games and stop playing against the computer. On higher difficulty levels, the computer isn't really any "smarter," they just "cheat" more by making plays that your players could never, ever make and knowing exactly what play you're calling, no matter what package you send in like you said.

    Snow Tires

It absolutely makes a HUGE difference. Especially in a mid-high power RWD car, like yours. All-season tires are mediocore at everything and good at nothing. It's a bit of a PITA to swap your wheels twice a year, but you'll appreciate the difference. And don't try driving in the snow with ultra-high performance summer tires. You won't go anywhere.
  23. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 12:54 PM) Garland for Cabrera even up is ridiculous and doesn't do anything positive for this team as far as I am concerned. We have two short stops now and are minus an 18 game winner. I have a real problem with trading quality pitching for a SS. But, it's done and if we don't win maybe KW should be looking for a new job in 2009. 18 game winner? I'm reserving judgement on this trade until I see how the starting rotation shapes up. As it looks right now, though, I'm not thrilled with it.
  24. Because 4th place just wasn't bad enough last year...
