  1. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 09:28 AM) Maybe not brainwashed, but come on, how often do we hear "media bias" when a story is unflattering to the GOP? Are you saying there are an equal number of liberal talk shows? Are you saying that these shows aren't advertiser driven? Be proud! The RNC is so much better at this than the DNC it makes the Dems look like amateur hour at the local comedy club. Name anyone on the planet that has been better at this over the past decade then Karl Rove? It's finally catching up to him, but the man is brilliant. It seems like there are conservatives on the TV and radio 24 hours a day b****ing and moaning about how conservatives never get a voice in the media. And people still buy it.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) You are right, he may have missed that. So here is the update. After basically email fighting, the GM finally offered me the orignal deal plus some freebies like XM radio. I got him to increase my trade in figure and we made a deal. I am going in to the dealership in the morning to sign the papers. Hopefully nothing goes wrong. I will begin racing you fools starting tomorrow. Congratulations! I just signed the loan on my GTO. I'll smoke your ass!
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 09:11 AM) Because he sucks major ass now. Who cares about spring training. He looks like a complete piece of s*** at the plate and in the field right now. The logic of your argument makes zero sense. He didn't play to start the season because he is bad now? What? Who cares about spring training? How else are you supposed to have a competition for the starting spot, as Ozzie said their was? You don't make any sense at all.
  4. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 10:51 PM) It's just funny that finally, after years and years of what should be common knowledge amongst law enforcement, coinciding with the return of a protest that was very well-done last year as far as logistics go, the police burst into Little Village. Does it really matter if they timed it to screw with their rally? They're still busting up a ring of people selling stolen identities. Its not like its some made-up raid to scare people.

    The Office

I need two men on this...that's what she said..no time! But she did -NO TIME!
  6. I used to like McCain, but he just seems to be a two-faced pandering politician to me now. He'll do anything to get support, even if it directly contradicts what he's said in the past. I don't want someone like that in the oval office. None of the Republican candidates jump out at me right now.
  7. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) If only those two scenarios were remotely similar to one another. Yeah, serving warrants in a known hot bed of criminal activity is a bit different than a local police force responding to a psycho on a rampage. I'm really failing to grasp the link here. One was a planned operation, the other a response to a crisis. And no guns were "blazing" as no shots were fired.
  8. QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) I don't like Ozzie anymore than you might like him, but i think anderson is horrible, I also think Ozzie was forced to take him on the team and now he is giving it back to KW and anderson himself. Look, i realize alot of young people like this guy, but he is pompous, irritating, cares about himself, his women, his dope, and his golden locks. He is not fitting on this team, and he will be gone, trouble is nobody wants him, and we have nothing better in our two bit minor league system at this point. The message is very clear, Ozzzie hates the guy, try workign for a boss that hates you. Its no fun and you are pretty much screwed, therefore you start doing things that would piss off your boss more, and care less for your surroundings. Human nature. He is a goner. Nothing like running a top prospect out of town after only 400 AB's when his trade value is minimum and you've got no one to fill the gap he'd leave.
  9. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) Was on MSNBC. Pretty tame for the most part. I think Clinton, Dodd, Kucinich and Edwards did the best. Obama seemed too hesitant at times. The Senator from Alaska is crazy and Richardson lost my interest after Brian Williams stated that Richardson is the NRA's #1 candidate in the race by either party. The more I hear, the more I like
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 06:27 PM) Yup. But this is also a move that allows our guys more time to rest for the series against the Angels. Solid decision for many reasons. Weather's just a nice excuse to give everyone on this team a much-needed day off.
  11. QUOTE(Top Notch @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 04:43 PM) WCIU pays for the rights to the game. It should be blacked out, regardless of how s***ty the quality is or not. Why block it out on ESPN in markets that don't get WCIU?
  12. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 05:32 PM) well, there will be flashbacks to what has happened to Locke between the Others leaving and the current time But no pre-Island backstory flashbacks. For the first time.
  13. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 05:22 PM) All the more reason not to burst in with guns drawn when there are hundreds of innocent bystanders, no? What would be the better way to contain a group of several hundred that could have several dozen potentially dangerous suspects?
  14. Very sharp looking car! Good luck with the negotians.
  15. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 02:17 PM) Who gets the flashbacks next week? According to some information out there, no one.
  16. Thome and A-Rod had great weeks, no doubt. Too bad for them Mark had a fantastic one! Interesting thing looking at those numbers for those two, though. Thome: 3 HR, 4RBI. A-Rod: 5 HR 13 RBI. Why can't anyone get on base in front of Thome?
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 02:11 PM) Based on what you said I predict he has no chance. We are in the multimedia age. The days of FDR are long gone. People want the "presidential look" as well as someone who sounds "presidential". Oh wait....how did the current boob get elected for 2 terms if that's the case??? Never mind. Didn't FDR get in on the whole multimedia thing with his fireside chats? As far as Bush, what's that BS the media and the RNC were parroting? "He sounds like the common man" or "doesn't speak above our heads and use big words."
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:55 PM) You are leaving out the biggest thing we have at this point - their histories (resumes if you will). That's more what I was thinking of -- legislative or executive actions in the past can indicate where they stand and how the feel on some issues. I'm not looking for expansive plans for foreign policy or the economy at this point, just where these candidates stand on issues like free trade, gun control, Iraq, health care, etc. This thread is the most thought I've put into the 2008 elections so far, and I probably won't put much more though in until the end of this year. This is just way too early to start serious campaigning and consideration of candidates.
  19. If they give Hillary the nomination, she'll get destroyed in the general election. I really, really hope they realize this.
  20. QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:37 PM) My cable provider gives me Comcast, but not WCIU as I am downstate. The ESPN game last night was still blacked-out though. Same for Champaign-Urbana. I don't understand the logic behind that.
  21. I haven't heard too muhc about Richardson, but I like what I have (so far). Anyone have a good website with a comprehensive summary on the different candidates' positions? edit: I found this site. Anyone know if its any good? http://www.ontheissues.org/Bill_Richardson.htm I still like what I see on an overwhelming majority of issues.
  22. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:28 PM) I'm sure 12 other White Sox hitters would have put that ball in the stands. Or they would have tried and gotten "just underneath that one." I really don't have that confidence that anyone in the lineup last night would have hit that.
  23. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) Not with the bases loaded and a 3-1 count they weren't. HE KNEW WHAT WAS COMING! It was put on a tee for him. There was no guessing involved and it was placed on a tee. No other player on the White Sox did this. Not one. Only BA. Fine, it's all on BA. You're right, those other batters get excuses for whiffing on pitches that could easily have been hit (probably about 1 per at bat). It's entirely Anderson's fault for screwing up (and he did, big time). Durbin was throwing terrible pitches all night, but hey, they didn't know the pitch was going to be terrible, so its ok. Adjusting and taking a hanging slider is hard, man! There is no reason that the Sox should have been blanked through the 8th, and that's only 1/9 Anderson's fault.
  24. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) That's right he really really really really hasn't. No it wasn't. BA is the only one that faced Todd Jones. Todd Jones gave him a straight as an arrow 85 MPH fastball cookie teed up for him and BA completely missed. The bases were loaded with a 3-1 count so he knew a fastball was coming. Completely ridiculous. No one else on the team did this. Only BA. Give me a break. The entire team was getting hanging meatballs all night and managed to get shut out for 8 innings by a s***ty pitcher. Period. BA was at the plate during the "rally" the sox had (which involved zero hits). Yes, he screwed up there. No excuses for him. But the entire offensive unit failed miserably last night all game long.
  25. This episode was ok. Advanced the plot a little, but kinda slow and not too much excitement. I'd give it a 5 or 6 out of 10 for a Lost episode (which is still an 8 or 9 compared to most other TV shows).
