  1. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:00 PM) Hundreds of innocent people detained at gun point, hundred innocent processed, to arrest 15 of the 60 warrants. Again, imagine if Federal agents detained hundreds of white people? If there were white people running drug rings out of Woodfield Mall, it'd probably happen. It may have been a bit over-zealous, yes. But they knew one of the centers for the ring and knew that a lot of the wanted people would be there. What do you propose they should have done? I don't know what situation could have been less intrusive to the innocent people but still have caught all of the criminals there. I understand her comments. Yes, I'd rather have people working than sitting on their butts and collecting welfare. They're still breaking the law by using fake ID's and stolen SSN's. These people have repeatedly shown no respect for the law. Immigration laws need major, major overhauls but illegal immigrants that are here now shouldn't just get a free pass to break as many laws as they need to to get a job.
  2. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 12:35 PM) But how many were innocent versus the guilty? Did they really have to go to those extremes with innocent people there shopping? Were forgers considered armed and dangerous? I'm surprised the police went in like that. In fact I doubt the accuracy of those statements. OK, bathroom walls. You are inside changing your baby and the police break down the bathroom door with guns drawn? Seems extreme and as I mentioned above, I wonder if it is really accurate. This must not be the kind of mall I am thinking of. I know Woodfield is too big, but I picture a public place with the public strolling among shops. I also would bet that those statements are a bit exaggerated. I don't know at what threat level these people were assessed. It's possible that they believed they *may* be armed and dangerous. I'm definitely not a big supporter of the over-militarization of the police and their quickness in use of force, but if you know a ton of counterfeiters are going to be at this place, you need to lock it down and keep everyone contained so that they can't get away easily. http://cbs2chicago.com/local/local_story_114185426.html Here's a video in this link. They show a glimpse of the mall. From the CBS video: "Selling illegal papers to immigrants so that they can work. That's all we need them for, to work. But apparently that's against the law and God forbid we help America." Yeah, selling forged ID's and stolen SSN's are against the law, you moron.
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 12:24 PM) Seems a bit overzealous. Imagine if they shut down Woodfield and kicked in those doors with guns drawn. It was believed that the ring was being run out of the Little Village Discount Mall, at least partially. I highly doubt yuppies in Woodfield are looking to buy fake ID's and stolen SSN's.
  4. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) Our immigrations policies are flawed, but that is no excuse for breaking the law. Even worse, people seem to think that illegal aliens actually deserve something. They are here illegally, I have zero sympathy for them. I always wonder what rights they are protesting about at these rallies.
  5. QUOTE(Craig Grebeck @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 09:20 AM) Striking out is the same as grounding out. Outs=bad---whether or not you ground out a lot or strike out a lot the end result is the same. Balls in play are better than balls not in play.
  6. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 11:43 PM) I don't need a sportscar and a giant handgun when we start comparing sizes of states . . . Yeah, but Alaska is still the John Holmes of it all.
  7. Durbin's pitches (fork added for tee-ball effect):
  8. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 11:01 PM) Eh......didn't expect much with this lineup, don't care who we were facing. Having 3 regulars out has a big effect on the way you pitch to everyone else, taking out Thome and Dye allows you to pitch a lot differen't to everyone. Get these guys back and healthy as quick as possible and we will be fine. He was pitching meatballs to almost every batter. Hanging sliders all over the place. And they were shutout until Zumaya couldn't find the zone.
  9. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 12:34 AM) WHO CARES?! Runs are runs, I'm sorry to single you out, but so many people here act like runs not scored by HRs count double or some bulls***. The offense relied on HRs last year and scored a s*** ton of runs, good for 3rd in the league (2 behind Cleveland for 2nd). This is what HR swing clubs get you. Dominated by a career 6+ ERA pitcher.
  10. QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 10:53 PM) Anderson is another Jeremy Reed. Cut him loose. Trade him. He can't hit. Unless he learns how. Where will he learn? Da minors! Ship him down. He's only got about 400 AB's. A little too quick to just toss him by the way-side.
  11. QUOTE(Soxy @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) Okay, so I promise I was not on any mind altering substance when I thought of this but--how do we know that life can only exist in terms of "carbon based" like here on earth? Isn't it possible some other sort of element could be the basis of life--thus making it not necessary for a planet to be "earth-like" for there to be life? That always has boggled my mind. As far as we know, carbon-based is necessary for life, but we certainly don't know everything. I don't know if science has some how (accurately) ruled out other forms of life existing elsewhere. Life is remarkably adaptable, so it wouldn't surprise me if non-carbon life were out there.
  12. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 10:35 PM) What a joke Did the update Mack's condition at all? If he is out for a couple of days I expect Boone to be sent down in favor of Terrero/Owens/Sweeney. Last Farmer said during the game was day-to-day with an abdominal strain
  13. QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 10:24 PM) BA, for once in your life you have a chance to prove all the doubters wrong and come up with a big hit. geez, 3-1 85 MPH cockshot and you swing and miss? dude needs to get his eyes checked or something, seriously. i have never seen some one swing and miss so much on absolute cookies. hell put me in there i can take that 85 mph "heater" from todd jones and hit a line drive back up the middle. im sick of the same old excuses with this guy at the plate, its just brutal That was the whole damn offense tonight, not just BA.
  14. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 10:19 PM) How can a player be so bad and folks still keep trying to offer up excuses for him... Lets face it... he can't hit... time to move on. Calling Luis Terrero Calling Ryan Sweeney People just wanted to give him a chance early on. He looks terrible, absolutely terrible so far.
  15. QUOTE(Jake @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:57 PM) I remember the example I heard was a young boy going on his lightspeed ride, and coming back to his little brother being an old man. Fascinating. That sounds more accurate.
  16. there goes the shutout!!!!11!!11!!!!1!!!!!!!
  17. "a walk here, then another walk, and a dinger, and we got ourselves a ballgame"
  18. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:55 PM) Konerko seriously needs a day or two off. How can they possibly afford it with all of the injuries?
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:55 PM) So let me get this straight. He can put hte wood on the ball of Zumaya, but not meatball before that. Come one now. I'm telling you, they just got too excited with the meatballs.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:54 PM) Oh Hawk....I can't wait to hear you state how tough the division is every single night. He's like a broken record already.
  21. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:53 PM) Zumaya is in. We might put a run up. Whew. At least they managed to knock out Cy Durbin. They had NO chance against that meatball pitcher. Pitches were too easy to hit so they got all jumpy and excited.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) I've missed some games on TV this year, but has Crede made a diving stop all season? He made one last night, I think, and one in Buerhle's gem. Zumaya in
  23. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:49 PM) Complete game for Cy crapo now. 6 run lead should do it. If this team gets CG shutout by Durbin....I...I just don't know. They should probably refund the fans for tonight's game though.
