  1. Is there anything they haven't made an -opoly of? I saw "catopoly" at a store around Christmas
  2. Just to let everyone know, they completely re-worked and ruined the game of Life sometime in the mid 90's. The game now is "see who gets the highest salary." That's basically all there is to it now.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 01:12 PM) Actually the people b****ing are the only descendants of the Illini tribe, but yeah, you are right. Actually a majority of the people that b**** and protest are a bunch of white kids from the Chicago suburbs. So, yeah, I'm right. I go to U of I currently and I don't really care one way or the other. As LCR pointed out, there's plenty of other problems on campus such as crumbling classrooms on the main campus. There's even more important issues with Native Americans to work out instead of this stuff.
  4. Risk and Monopoly. I'll probably be picking up A&A this summer. Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne are both pretty fun, but I haven't played them in a few years now.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 09:33 AM) Of course you do. Luckily there are people who actually are of the race in question and are actually offended by a white kid performing an incredibly inaccurate, inappropriate, and racist halftime show. HE GONE And there are other native americans that aren't. And most of the people who b**** and moan about this are a bunch of white suburbanites.
  6. 1) H-2-H 2) Beginner (played two seasons) 3) N/A 4) No, I'd probably mess it up
  7. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 06:57 AM) I would say that Gooch batting 7th would not be that big of a deal. It is not like the order matters that much after the 1st inning. What matters more is who is hitting before and after him. The Erstad-Pods thing however would be horrible. Actually, anything with Pods in it is horrible at this point. I was listening to an interesting analysis of this on the Score after the Cubs signed Soriano. I don't remember all of the exact details, but, suffice it to say that the order really does matter over the course of the season for total number of at-bats and RBI opportunities.
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 10:57 AM) Kap, the greatest cost we face in this war are the lives that are lost and can not be replaced. An argument can be raised that ignoring or publicizing those deaths is politicizing the deaths. If an error is to be made, then reminding us of this cost is the error I would like to make. To elaborate. The Pro-War Hawk's agenda is advanced when we discount all costs of the war. The Anti-War Dove's agenda is advanced when we inflate all costs of the war. So no matter what we do, it is politicized. So which is the lesser of two evils? Which supports the Troops in a respectful manner. Again, both sides will rightly believe theirs is the correct path. Because intelligent people fall in both camps, I believe we are best served by healthy debate and in the resulting balance comes strength. For me, I want everyone to recognize the expenses and what we lose in time, talent, and treasure while we fight this war. Speaking of that.... http://majorityleader.house.gov/docUploads...arColleague.pdf
  9. It also only goes up to 2004 -- we've had more years of the Iraqi war after that than before that. And, of course, the hostile action percentage is WAY up during 2003 and 2004.
  10. The big "?" at the 5-spot is what has me worried.
  11. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 11:46 PM) Yeah, it was really bad. The never officially released Oley Sassone Fantastic Four flick from 1994 was better than the 2005 version, and the 1994 version was a low budget crapfest that was never even supposed to be released. My brother has a copy of that movie on VHS, or at least he did a while back. Yeah, that was once massive pile of crap. I'll probably be going to see Bourne and Pirates. I like the story that the books for Bourne took a lot better, but the movies were still entertaining. As for the Simpsons movie, maybe I'll rent the DVD. I've seen one good, new episode in the past 5 or 6 years so I don't expect anything different from the movie.
  12. QUOTE(BoKnows @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) I have to agree with your list of elliott albums. either/or is my favorite followed by XO. Have you heard about the possible biopic on Elliott's life? I read this the other day, with Zach Braff being rumored to play the role of Elliott. I hope this is all just a rumor and nothing like this ever sees the light of day. Elliott was too much of a private individual and there is no way that hollywood would be able to get his life right. It's hard to pick a favorite, so I just load 'em all and put it on shuffle.
  13. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 04:26 PM) Apologize? To the likes of you on an internet message board? Puh-leeze. It's politics. Bring your thick skin or go home. You liberals are adorable. i.e. I'm going to lie and spread unsubstantiated rumors and act like its no big deal when I get called on it.
  14. QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 03:19 PM) i'm real worried one of the final twists will be that on the island time is slowed down, so when they get back to the real world it is far into the future or something silly. What worries me is "only fools are enslaved by time and space" and all the philosopher names in the show, walt being named walt - perhaps to walt whitman whose crossing ferry island (?) poem dealt a lot with talking to future generations and how time didn't exist due to the commonality that we all enjoy. That would really get my goat if walt comes back and he's like 50 and everyones like WHAAAA I don't know if I'd worry about that so much. Every time they hint towards supernatural and/ or sci-fi stuff, they usually end up coming back to the reason being based in reality. For example, look at the plane crash. For a while, it was set up to make us wonder what sort of "cosmic forces" came together to get them on the plane and make it crash. Eventually we find out its all just coincidence and it only crashed because Desmond didn't push the button which released an EMP.
  15. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 01:13 PM) If this is the nugget that pushes one over the edge to not vote for Hillary, he or she should have their voting privileges taken away. That decision could and should easily be made on her own public merits. I know. This story alone won't make or break a candidate -- but a long series of them over the next year and a half may swing a significant amount of voters.
  16. The problem with stories like these and the Obama madrassa story is that a lot of people will only remember reading the initial report and take it as true. They won't see that its completely bunk.
  17. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 11:25 AM) I tried to watch part of it last night... it was so bad.. I mean worse than SNL bad! And that's pretty bad! THe problem is, they are mocking a show that is already mocking the media. You can't mock the mocker, it makes you look stupid. Plus, why s a show like this on Fox News. I thought they were supposed to be a "legit" fair and balanced news station? Comedy Central can do it, they arent a news station!! TDS also will take jabs at Democrats -- increasingly so lately because they're actually relevant again. This show just looks like its going to be a bunch of lame jokes written for people who love Coulter and Rush. "Sheehan went on a shooting spree!!!!! (canned) LOLZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I guess I just find it a lot funnier when TDS uses actual clips and statements to poke fun at politicians and the media instead of just writing some really, really lame jokes. Whats really sad is that a half hour of the Daily Show contains, on average, as much news content as a half-hour of a cable news network.
  18. http://youtube.com/results?search_query=ha...p;search=Search It's stiff, stale, and poorly-written. They just make stuff up instead of making fun of what's going on. And that canned laugh track is terrible. That said, I don't remember what TDS was like when it started, so maybe this can improve too. Really, though, this just affirms John Stewart's rant on CNN's Crossfire a year or two ago -- Fox NEWS Channel is making a COMEDY program to compete with COMEDY CENTRAL'S fake news show.

    The Office

Another great episode! I'm glad they redeemed Michael again -- if they didn't do that, I'd lose any empathy for the character and it would just become too ridiculous.
  20. But it didn't explain how he was seeing the future at all. He hit is head, "went back in time" and so he knew what was going to happen in the future. But he should only know up until the point he went back in time (hatch explosion), not anything after that. And everything they told us about Desmond we basically already knew.
  21. I thought this episode was terrible. We didn't really learn anything other than Charlie might die. The episode flashed back to itself, for Christ's sake. It didn't advance the plot of the show any further and didn't explain at all why he's now able to see the future. This may have been the worst episode of Lost ever, IMO. The third season just has a different feeling than the rest of the series, and I'm not too sure I like it. It's become a drama set on an island instead of a drama/ action about people lost on an island.

    The Office

So, about a week ago my friend sent me the first few episodes of the series. A week later, and I've seen every episode from all three seasons so far. Damn this show is addicting. I thought Michael's antics at the wedding were a bit much -- almost to the point where its going to stop being believable. Overall, though, still a good episode. I loved Jim training Dwight.
  24. I hate them both, but Mencia is a no-talent hack.
