  1. when your last ditch legal coup attempt is going well
  2. WE have some good news. There's a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. The end of the tunnel is still a long, grueling slog away, though. Stay home, stay safe when you can. Wear your masks if you absolutely have to go out. We're back to opening emergency field hospitals. If you get sick or injured, COVID or otherwise, there may not be space for you. Doctors are going to be making some very tough decisions on who gets treatment and who doesn't.
  3. There's a lot of intentional misinformation/propaganda efforts out there as well.
  4. It's basically the same as the Pfizer news, and the Pfizer stock sale was scheduled back in August. A lot of pharma execs are going to make obscene amounts of money off of this, and that's gross and a problem with our economic system imo, but that doesn't mean their vaccine is fake.
  5. J&J is having a hard time getting fully enrolled and started their trials later than Pfizer, Moderna, or AstraZeneca/Oxford. They also had to pause for a couple of weeks in October. AZ/O is still on hold in the US by the FDA I think, but it's proceeding in Brazil and the UK. Some of the Moderna numbers: Most of these Phase 3's are targeting somewhere around 200 infections for their initial data sets before going for a EUA.
  6. These are just press releases at this point, so we need to wait to see the full (preliminary) Phase 3 data when it's written up and submitted. But both of these vaccines appearing to be highly effective is of course great news. What's not clear from what I can read in the press releases is whether they think it's providing protective immunity, e.g. you can still get a SARS-CoV-2 infection but just end asymptomatic or mildly sick, or if it's actually giving some level of sterilizing immunity, meaning you don't ever get an infection and aren't going to be an asymptomatic spreader yourself. The later is much much better, but the current target endpoints are the first. Hopefully we know more in a few weeks.
  7. Friendship ended with Pfizer vaccine now Moderna vaccine is my best friend
  8. Great system, makes tons of sense.
  9. The best (worst) part of all this is that both the Democrats and Republicans are holding big new member dinners.
  10. ss2k5 within two years you're going be quoting straight from Das Kapital and Communist Manifesto, mark my words
  11. It's needlessly more expensive than a public system like every other modern country has. There's really no point beyond weird ideological hang ups that result in worse healthcare for a higher price tag.
  12. We're probably looking at 2k+ deaths per day baked in for early December at this point.
  13. Lincoln way went fully remote after having 70 cases and 600 students in quarantine.
  14. It was designed so that the slaver states got their 3/5's representation counted for Presidency as well without actually having to treat the slaves as humans and, god forbid, actually let them vote in a popular election. Even if it was simply a popular vote of white men, the southern slaver states knew that they'd be dominated politically, and so instead set up a system where they could more often than not dominate the majority of Americans. When it was originally conceived, there was no conception of a broad popular vote or political parties coming to dominate who even gets consideration. For a while, a number of states didn't have a presidential vote at all and instead had the state legislature choose.
  15. AZ will probably end up closer than GA, but it looks like Biden will hang on there.
  16. We know that the police would overwhelmingly back Trump. It'd be enough for the military to do nothing.
