  1. Animal House and Caddyshack 1-2? That's so cliche. Those movies have become overrated not because they're BAD, but just because everyone feels the need to say they love the movie so they fit in. I personally think Bill Murray isn't that funny. At all. Here's my list, but remember I'm not much of a movie guy. My selection is limited. **Rough quotes, I'm one of those annoying people who will say movie lines but get them wrong*** 1 Wayne's World - Hiarious. The subtle, yet obvious jokes are the funniest parts. "The Sh*tty Beatles? Are they any good?" "They suck." "So it's not just a clever name?" Van Wilder - What do you think of when you see thi... TITTIES! Tommy Boy - I asked Beverly to marry me. That's great! ....what did she say?.... Wedding Crashers - MOM! MEATLOAF! Happy Gilmore - The Price is wrong, b**** 40 Year Old Virgin - Like 2 big...sandbags. Dude, have you ever felt a pair of boobs before. A Night at the Roxbury - You...complete me Billy Madison - That is correct! Elf - These bathrooms are ginormous! 10 Dumb and Dumber - Just go.
  2. Wow, people still can't get over the fact that larger wrestlers draw more? Back when I was big into wrestling and would go on the message boards, people would always push for Benoit or the other smaller more technical wrestlers to be champions. Well when they would get the belt, there would be no reaction. I remember hearing crickets when Benoit would come down the aisle. It's a shame, because he's a great wrestler. But the reality of the situation is big guys draw. The crappiest wrestlers draw. It annoys me so much when the internet wrestling community always wants your Paul London's, Chris Benoit's, Rey Mysterio, etc. to be pushed. For as long as pro wrestling has been around, the main guys haven't been the greatest wrestlers (with a few exceptions). Hulk Hogan? The Rock? Triple H? Andre the Giant? Foley? Some of the worst, yet most successful, wrestlers of all time. It's sports entertainment. It's acting. It's about personality. Another thing. People who hate everyone who becomes popular. Cena is very entertaining to watch, but all the internet fans hate him. The internet ruined wrestling for me. It sucked the fun right out of it. Rant over.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) More of a general thought, there's a lot of s*** that's posted in Trade Winds that really has no value to it. I won't take back what I said, but don't take offense to it. I had no part in the thread, I just put in my 2 cents.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) Man, I wish my mod powers stretched into Trade Winds. Seems like I'm the recipient of an awful lot of animosity these days, can't say I don't like it. I really do wish I could be outside right now but I doubt my bosses will appreciate that. So you want to ban other people because you were being a dick? I think that's why I was banned for a week. I still don't know exactly why I was banned, today is my first day back. But I think I said a mod was being a dick, so he banned me. That's how I got banned from the other site too. I think the mod selection processes need to be a little stricter on White Sox sites!
  5. The same kind of thing was done for Chris Capuano. But his was only a top 10. Therefore AJ is better.
  6. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:09 AM) If AJ makes it, MLB is going to add a new skills competition, hit by a pitch. If AJ makes it, ESPN won't know what to do with themselves. "Two years in a row the fans vote in a Black Sox player. Do they actually have fans? Maybe we should pay a little more attention......NAAHHHHHHH GO Yankees! Go Big Papi!!!!!"
  7. Ashlee is lookin pretty good these days. Someone here has an Ashlee Simpson avatar and she looks amazing.
  8. QUOTE(SnB @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) i've said it before, this is the era we're going to remember as sox fans for a long time. Enjoy it. Which was meant to be my main message. Sox fans should enjoy this because it might never be like this ever again. And I used to be one to totally obsess over the media. I still do when it's deserved. But just to sit back and realize that we may be witnessing the creation of a dynasty...well that's a good feeling.
  9. Dekalb IS a blast. I still go there, so I don't need a hotel. I stumble my way back to my apartment! It's about a 10 minute walk. I agree with needing another running back. AJ backed up Wolfe last year, but now that AJ is gone I don't know who is going to step up. I'm not a big Sheldon fan after I saw him in the stands of a game last year. I didn't know it was him, my friends had to point him out. But he's standing up, drunk, without a shirt walking to a group of girls. I just thought, "how pathetic". It's like the 20 year old college kid walking through the halls of his old high school DURING school. And yes, I have friends who do that. edit, Sam Hurd. Thank you.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:06 AM) When the Bears were great, and the Bulls were on their run there just wasn't anything to talk about. If the Sox being so good is an excuse for inferior media coverage, how come the Blackhawks don't get any ink? Even though it may seem like it, I'm not trying to give the media a free pass. There's still plenty to talk about, but the media is known to be lazy. It would take too much effort to make some comparisons between a slumping Podsednik and a Jerry Owens...the potential leadoff man of the future. Or for reporters to go take a look at Ryan Sweeney. That would take too much effort. In that respect, I say f the media. haha But as far as everyday things going on with the team itself, how much is there to say? A team that wins consistently and has no holes makes for a bland conversation.
  11. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 09:45 AM) It seems Jenks is really getting into that slider of his. He started to throw it against the Cardinals big fastball hitters last week and did so again Sunday and yesterday. If he gets this pitch over he will be devastating and hitters will have no chance. The funny thing was that it registered at 97 MPH and instead of just saying what a good/great pitch it was Joe Morgan rambles how the gun HAS to be wrong as he has never seen a 97 MPH slider. This post is more about the work he can do with this pitch. I think this was what got Ausmus to ground weakly into the DP Sunday and both guys yesterday. Last year it seemed in back to back days or when overworked Jenks would get hit a little. In the extra inning World Series game he went to this pitch and went 2 innings, I believe. If he throws strikes he is unhittable. Oh, and I like Matt Thorton even more if he throws strikes. Morgan was pissing me off with that. You've never seen a 97mph slider? Well you have now jackass! Then he throws another breaking pitch that was 94, and he goes "that's more like a slider, with less break". Jon Miller tells the dumbass that it was a cutter. Give it a break Morgan, the White Sox are good. Rant over.
  12. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) I am actually a fairly decent fan of NIU, considering I was born in DeKalb. Me and a couple of friends are looking to go out to a bar in Dekalb close to Northern or atleast where college chicks hang out. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. NIU should not be overlooked in the OSU game, they did put up a fight last year in the big house. That said, GO BUCKS! NIU beat themselves in Michigan. They could of won that game. I'm not a big Horvath fan to be honest. I miss Haldi already. They got Britt Davis who ran the 5-wide offense at R-B, but they moved him to receiver. And they need him there because I believe Shatone Powers and...I can't remember the other guy's name at the moment...but they both graduated. If they keep playing these big name schools, hopefully they can get some better recruits in the next few years. It's easy to get lineman and linebackers in the midwest, we need some skill players though.
  13. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) I love how he went the other way with one of his hits. Thats something that was missing during his mini-funk. I think he could go opposite field more if he wanted to. They play that crazy shift on him for a reason though. He's paid to hit the ball out of the ballpark, not to bloop singles into left field. It's like last year when people were asking why doesn't Ortiz lay down a bunt down the 3rd base line. It's because he's paid to hit the long ball and drive runs in, not get on by bunts.
  14. Link As frustrated as I get about the media coverage and how everyone wants to focus on Ozzie and not the team...one has to realize that there isn't that much to talk about! Fire Ozzie? Nope. Send one of the regulars down to the minors and bring up a young prospect? Nope. Pitching troubles? Nope. Baserunning troubles? Nope. Lack of speed? Nope. I could keep going. What is there to talk about? Brick Tamlin, radio host: "The White Sox won again last night. They are really good. There are no holes in that team. Your thoughts?" Shamus O'Toole from Beverly: "Yeah, first time caller, I'd just like to say that I agree, the Sox are really good." Radio host: "...so anyways" Now don't get me wrong, the media could spend a lot more time talking about how almost every player on the 25 man roster could deserve a spot on the All-Star team, but the fact of the matter is there is not much to talk about. Let's just enjoy the ride.
  15. QUOTE(Soxy @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) Helllllooooooo, they have Corn Fest, I would think that you, of all people, would appreciate CORN FEST! lol I went once my freshman year. It was alright. Not my crowd...if you catch my drift. There isn't enough "party" on the back of my head, mostly business. And I don't drive a rusty pickup truck. But I had fun.
  16. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) That HAS to be the first time anyone has ever uttered that phrase! Is Scamnesia still there? A lot of people call Dekalb boring. I say they're just not hanging out with the right crowd. And I couldn't tell ya. To be honest I have no idea what you're talking about.
  17. I recently bought Disturbed's Ten Thousand Fists album. Solid album from beginning to end. It hasn't left my CD player. I know, I'm a little late on that one. The album came out like a year ago. haha
  18. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) what did the Scrubs get for Garland? Matt Karchner
  19. I'm counting down the days until NIU football starts. You see them going to a bowl game this year? Will Garrett Wolfe be in the Heisman voting? It could be another fun year in Dekalb.
  20. I was just talking to a co-worker about the Bell/Sosa trade. Can you really consider it a "bad" trade? Bell was brought in to produce right away. You don't bring in a George Bell as a long term option. Plus the Sox would of had to deal with another PR nightmare in Sosa. The Tribune would of never fell for Sosa's tricks if he was still on the Sox. They'd call him out on the steroids, the wife beating, and the mysterious brown paper bag full of money right away.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 08:34 AM) Are you referring to a brand name, or just beers from the north? I gotta say I LOVE Canadian beers, so I would have a bone to pick with ya. On our Canadian honeymoon in 2000, I definately fell in love with a couple of beers up there, but the big one was Labatts 50-50's There is a brand name called Northern. They sell it at Lundeen's in Dekalb. 9.forty-something a case. Sick s*** though...
  22. I wouldn't doubt it for a second.
  23. OO-ribe is the correct way to pronounce it. Our Chicago accent butchers most of the names. But those guys were pissing me off the other night. Especially Joe Morgan. I got the impression that he truly hates the White Sox. Referring to their 9 game winning streak, "when you win 9 games in a row, you have to have a lot of luck." F-off Morgan. This team is good, admit it. It doesn't sound that bad when reading it...you just had to hear the tone of his voice I guess. There were more instances, I'm sorry that's the only one I remember off hand. Oh, a lot of references to Boston and New York when discussing the league's best teams. Sorry guys, Detroit and Chicago are in a league of their own. Nobody else can compare. Toronto scares me more than the beasts from the east. (I hope I picked the right color. It's my first time using it on this site.) Then of course Miller's constant Ozzie Smith references. Gimme a break. The guy's been all over the news for the past week. You can at least get his name right. And the constant legend of Iguchi-san. Give me a break. Laaaame. Sox fans prefer to say "he's f-ing good!" I'll give Miller one thing. His grand slam call was great. Better than Berman's "OOOH NOOOOOO!!!" in the ALDS last year!
  24. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) he really is becoming a great hitter. Now if only his fielding would come around. Dont count on it though.
