  1. Me and my buddy were standing in the tunnel in the upper deck, not going to our seats because it was in the middle of the inning. The guy told us we can't stand there. I told him I'm going to because it's the middle of the inning. Between innings I'll move. He let me stay, but that's probably only because he was about 17 and a lot smaller than me. I thought I heard that some sports venues ENCOURAGE you to stay in the concourse/tunnels until there is a break in the action?
  2. QUOTE(Damen @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) Cliff Politte. Dustin Hermanson. (Green signifies sarcasm? haha)
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 11:21 PM) The AL has a 95-56 record vs. the NL so far this year. That, my friends, is some major ownage. Or "pwnage" if you will. haha
  4. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) My bosses are season ticket holders for the Cubs. They actually talk about the Sox more than they do the Cubs anymore. One of them has sold off most of his season tix, but held onto the ones for Friday. The reason? He says he wants to see the Sox play. This year was a big test for the north side ballclub. Their geographical rival won a World Series, and the fanbase responded. The mindless sheep are starting to realize that the product on the field DOES matter. They're getting sick of it. All the sudden the "atmosphere" isn't as important. They want to see a winner. My supervisor is going to the game today and he said he's not even excited because the team is so bad. The Cubs had their chance to keep this city, and they blew it. This was their chance to respond. And what was that response? Jacque Jones, Juan Pierre, and Gascan Howry. Way to go Jim.
  5. Thome was very frustrating to watch last night, but he's a streaky hitter. He'll be fine. Although that's what I loved about Frank Thomas. If they pitched him in, he'd adjust and start hitting the inside pitch. If they pitch him away, he makes the adjustment. That's what made him such a great hitter. I don't know much about Thome though> I don't know if we just need to wait it out until he gets hot or if he's good at making those adjustments. I'm going to say he isn't one to make adjustments because his swing is the same every time. Frank had a different stance every week (slight exaggeration).
  6. I was watching some of the Cubs game yesterday...they suck. I mean really, they are a horrible team. I don't know how Prior, Wood, and Lee is going to turn this team around if they can't field a ground ball, lay down a bunt, or hit the cutoff man. And Sox fans can never be accused of hating the Cubs more than liking the Sox. Look at that northsidebaseball message board and go to the rivals page. It's ALL Sox stuff. More than I've ever seen at any Sox board (of Cubs stuff obviously)
  7. QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 11:58 PM) I disagree, to a point. Steroids and other performance enhancing drugs have been abused in baseball for a long time now. People have been ignoring the elephant in the living room until now that the all-time home run record could be broken. Especially since the guy not only used steroids, but he's also an asshole. It really bugs me when people only want to bring up steroids in regard to home runs. Pitchers use them also, and also the borderline players that use them just to elevate themselves from the minor leagues to the majors. Steroids does not equal HR numbers. Sure, it helps increase guys numbers. How many pitchers and soft-hitting leadoff type guys need to come out as steroid users before people look beyond the bashers. The problem is much bigger than them. pardon the pun. All I'm going to say is that athletes are bigger and better than ever. Coincidence? I don't think so. 20 years ago guys were not this big. And my point is that it's really sad that every power hitter who has a below average year is going to be accused of taking something. What about the guys who are clean? What about the guy who busts his ass in the off season and then has a below average year? (coughAaronRowand 2005cough) It's not fair to the Rowand's of the MLB. He has a down year offensively, and understand that this is just an example, and then the guy gets accused of being on steroids? That ain't cool. But, it is the unfortunate reality of the situation. Baseball is forever tainted. We are witnessing the steroid era.
  8. Interesting topic. I also like being the team everyone hates. I've noticed it a lot more. It sucked when the Sox were finishing 2nd every year, but now that they're the best team in baseball, I like being hated. I think it's funny more than anything. Ask a person why they hate the White Sox. "Nobody shows up to their games" "They cheat" "They got lucky" "You can get shot outside the stadium" :rolly And as for Ozzie, we were talking baseball at a party of mine on Saturday. The booze was flowing, so you can only imagine the conversations. Well we started talking about grand slams and suicide squeezes: stuff you don't see every day. My friend (female...if it matters) says "aww, I wish the Cubs would do a suicide squeeze...I wish Ozzie was our manager...as much as I hate him" Interesting comment. I bet most feel that way, they just don't want to admit it.
  9. The only people who know that this isn't really a big deal are Sox fans and Sox employees/players/management, etc. However, I've been supporting Ozzie this whole time and while what he did was wrong, it doesn't deserve this much attention. It's a shame that Ozzie is taking all the attention away from the best team in baseball. That's right, the best team. They just won 9 games in a row. They hit 3 grand slams in 3 games. Not just 3 grand slams, but 3 MEANINGFUL grand slams. The bullpen has been great. Contreras broke an ALL-TIME White Sox record with his 16th straight win. Joe Crede is still hitting over .300 and it's almost July. Bobby Jenks has made himself into one of the premiere closers in the game. The Cell is sold out and rockin night after night. What do we have to hear about instead? Ozzie said a bad word. Ozzie said a word referring to the biggest creep in sports, not to Chad and his boyfriend Trevor in Wrigleyville. It's the 21st century, folks. Not many of us have a problem with gays. And the people who say "but I have gay friends" are the ones who do. lol...ok not really. I just always find that comment funny. ANYWAYS, it's part of life. Ozzie never meant to offend anyone except Jay Mariotti. But now I'm just beating a dead horse. Bottom line, I support Ozzie, but don't take the spotlight away from the team.
  10. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) you're wrong. I think I'm right! I'll have to check again when I get home.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 11:38 AM) Hu...? RC is 44 years old and still dominent. That in itself is reason enough to cover his return as they are. It's about ESPN, not Clemens. Everyone agrees ESPN sucks, but Hangar says it and he gets ripped on. Whatever. I'm done trying. haha
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:33 AM) Somedays I miss being a teenager... Then I see threads like this and feel old haha I'm 20 and they make me feel old. It's one thing to say to your buddy "she's hot", but telling a bunch of people over the internet that you saw this hot chick...it's just kind of weird. At the "other" site, they would lock threads like that and we'd all be called schovanist pigs...by the male mods!

    QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:16 AM) Dislikes include pushy-knowitall messageboard posters... I feel like you've known me forever...
  14. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) updated AL leads season series 81-51 .614 winning percentage Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe your John Rooney quote is inaccurate. I've heard the call a million times, I think it's "A White Sox winner...and a World Championship!"
  15. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:16 AM) Well let's see... He is agruably one the greatest pitchers...ever. :rolly If it was any other poster, you would agree with them.
  16. QUOTE(jimb408 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) Anybody NOT notice the babe in the pink top behind home plate. If you didn't notice - you need to watch the replay today. YIKEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dude, if you need a one night hookup, I can help you out (no, not me, sickos). You seem desperate.

    Cool pics..

    That was really cool. I love that kind of stuff. Storms, space, animals, sea creatures, I watch a lot of the Discovery Channel.
  18. Hands down, Miller Lite is the worst. I don't get why people are so hard on the "cheap" beers. Most of em have no flavor, so they don't taste "bad". If you're my age and pretty much drink to get drunk 90% of the time, a 12 dollar case of beer works just fine. But if we're talking about "beer snobs" here, then I can understand. haha Here are some cheap beers that I enjoy: High Life/Light Bud Light Bud PBR -- Reluctant to drink it now since it's become the "trendy" beer to drink. When I think cheap, trendy beers, I think Cubs. (Old Pile) BUSCH LIGHT! My favorite--to get drunk. It literally has no flavor. 10.99 for a 30 case! MGD -- When I'm feeling wealthy and am willing to drop 18 bucks on a case. Keystone Ice -- The ultimate party beer. If they don't have a keg, they have cases upon cases of Keystone Ice.
  19. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) lol, myspace is dumb facebook is ok for teens though because it atleast has protective measures, and makes people associated with schools only allowed which is good Facebook is much better. It's a great way to keep up with high school friends from other schools and to just keep in touch with friends that go to your school. I wish they would of kept the high schoolers off though, we saw what that did to Myspace. Leave it for college kids/alumni only. Oh well, at least Facebook doesn't have bulletins. I don't have to worry about my grandmother dying a horrible death if I don't repost the bulletin within the hour. And if I do it within the half hour, I'll kiss the love of my life. I am on Myspace everyday only because it gets more "action" than Facebook. I'll get a Myspace comment every day where I might get a Facebook message once a week. Where Facebook really shines is the photo albums and the fact that it's much cleaner and easier to search.
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 09:04 AM) He's referring to you assuming he's not a nancy fan because he had a good time the previous nights. He was saying the same thing I was, just differently. Your assumption that he wasn't a fan is what made no sense. Oh, thanks. I was pretty confused. Sorry, RibbieRubarb.
  21. I love Clemens. He's one of the best conditioned baseball players you will ever find. He's a fantastic pitcher who's still going strong at an old age. However, and I didn't see any of this coverage, I can only imagine after having to see all the Bonds crap during the 714 chase. I hate ESPN.
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) No, no, no.. I think everyone is a Nancy fan. Just not to the point that it makes us have a bad time at the game. ahh, that's not what I meant. How can you not have a great time at the park, organ or not. It just makes the experience that much more enjoyable. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) :headshake please...You are not making any sense. Let's recap: I wish Nancy was at more games. She would if she could, but she can't. The game isn't the same without her. Yep, seems pretty clear to me.
  23. Sorry, I skipped all the other posts when I saw the word "steroids". So I'm sure I'm repeating someone. Garcia has said himself that he CHOSE to take a few mph off his pitches to get more movement. If he needs to, he can still get the fastball up to 93-94 similar to Colon in later innings. Reaching back and getting a little more "giddy-up" on it (as Hawk would say). Again, I'm sure I repeated 6 people, but that word made me angry! haha
  24. I was there last night, and let me just say that was a great game to see live. The impression I got from everyone around me was that nobody cared the Sox were being no-hit through 6 x/3 (I forget). I just knew they were going to win. They're on one of those rolls. When Dye hit that wall, there was a collective "oh!" as he hit the wall, he was on the ground and showed his glove. It was on the big screen: he had the ball. The place went nuts. Then as he stands up, he gets a standing ovation. Awesome. Then he hits the triple (or at least I thought). Thome's bomb, the place went nuts. Of course. Who else gets the chills when Jenks comes out. Everyone stands and they play Here Comes the Boom. Just awesome. PS, Cardinals fans are pretty cool. The biggest jerks I saw were about 4 Sox fans sitting behind me. Way to make us look good, assholes. And I'm going to go out on a limb and say there were more Cardinal fans at this game than Cub fans at the last Sox/Cubs series. I was amazed.
  25. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) I don't know. I found the last two games quite enjoyable. ?? not many Nancy fans here? I wasn't expecting this reaction. I thought I was one of the many Nancy fans who was quite upset when they found out she won't be appearing at many games this year.
