QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 05:21 PM) Ok, I have to admit that I don't know U of I campus very well, but if there was a party going on at Jamar's apartment... why would he be the one to take Brian "home" Perhaps Jamar was the only one with a car. I lived in Savoy, right on the U of I golf course, and the only way to really get back and forth to Savoy was your own transportation, because of Savoy making a big deal about having to pay for the buses. Unless you wanted to walk to the Airport and wait there, but even then the buses don't run in the evening.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Feb 16, 2007 -> 07:28 PM) A Now can the UIUC worry about things like the GEO grad union, mid-size lectures back, LAS buildings not being up to fire code, the Coke contract since Coke uses death squads in Colombia to bust unions, etc... The School of Music needs some major improvements made to its faculty. Yeah, the Chief controversy has really distracted from some very important issues that needed dealing with. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 15, 2007 -> 02:15 PM) But note that Hardaway never said the player can't be gay or that he should be killed or that people physically should abuse him. He simply said he couldn't deal with it. Yes he used harsh words but again, I take the truth over a phony lie every day of the week because it lets you know how someone actually feels. But I tend to be a brutally honest person in real life and sometimes that can get me in trouble and luckily my brutally honest doesn't go into the odd point of view that Hardaway's does because I happen to not feel that way. Growing up in quite a God-fearing Christian household, I was taught that the word hate is the equivalent to cursing someone with death and eternal damnination; that an individual has no redeeming aspects to speak of and is better off dead(for example, my mom would say, "Hitler hated the Jews, you really don't hate your brother.") Now, I know that the word "hate" is treated as such in the real world, but I would argue saying this is not meant without harsh desires, especially in this context.

QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) did anyone see PTI? they said some people were speculating that Zook must be doing some under the table stuff to get recruits and it seemed to come out of nowhere Did they mention the piece from the NY Times? That article implied the same thing.

While we are talkin' White Sox DVDs, I was wondering if anyone had ever seen this: http://www.amazon.com/1959-World-Baseball-...=UTF8&s=dvd Wonder if it would be worth it.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) I may be crazy, but I really think in the at least one of the next 3 seasons, Uribe will have an offensive year like Crede's this year. I believe he still will be streaky, but his hot streaks will last longer and his funks shorter. I also think that if I'm correct, it in no way will propel him to be a consistent offensive player. If he hit .295 with 30-35 homers, there's probably an 85% chance he would fall to levels like this year the following year. He has a great glove, and that can't be discounted either. I would love A Rod to be playing SS for the White Sox, and would be very surprised if KW wouldn't love it too. I'm sure if he's available, KW will be on the phone.Uribe though, is not half as bad as most think, he was good enough with a far worse offensive team in 2005 that the Sox won it all. I think KW has to get the pitching straightened out first, but acquiring ARod would make the Sox the lead story on sportscenter an awful lot. It would definitely make expectations championship or bust for the foreseeable future. You're right about Uribe, in that he is not as bad as I see him. I was just looking at his stats and noticed that this year he played 14 less games than 2005 with 18 less at bats, but he hit more home runs and doubles and had the same amount of RBIs. What killed him this year, and what seems to be stuck in all of our minds is his complete lack of patience (.235 BA, 82 SO, and 13 walks). He isn't flat out terrible and shows value. I would only suggest trading him for prospects only if the Sox do acquire Arod (to keep Crede at third).

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) He proved this year that he isn't a capable starter. Considering how much he's making, can you realistically say that some teams are going to give up some valuable prospect/s for him? Get real. This has nothing to do with the Red Sox. You're ready to pencil Juan Uribe into the line-up for next season? Heck, I wasn't even suggesting valuable prospects. I think you and I may have the same opinion of Juan Uribe; Uribe = no value. However, this opinion is only formed based on my reaction on this past season performance alone.
-
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) Juan Uribe is valueless. He's guaranteed 4.5 million dollars next year and pretty much just sucks. Kenny Williams has just got it let it be known that when Juan Uribe gets hot, he carries a team!

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) You could say .300 BA, .400 OBP, 20 SB, 100 R, 110 RBI as well...Either way. That certainly would be helpful; however I wonder how long it would be before we started complaining about Arod only wanting to hit homers. The way I see it, getting him and placing him at shortstop would only benefit us. Our current shortstop swings for the fences every at bat. Getting Arod would give us a shortstop that could justify such a hitting philosophy. Perhaps, I think with too much video game logic, but why not get Arod and shop Uribe for minor leaguers?
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 01:39 PM) Yep, it really does. Anyone who thinks that we'll get him for anything less than that is fooling themselves. ARod would be a guaranteed 40 homers a year playing at the Cell. Weren't you complaining the entire second half about the Sox's reliance on the home run?

Was our best hitter on the bench most of the year?
