Hudson at 61 pitches through 2 innings. He's given up a 2 runs, including a homer, walked 2, & struck out 4.
-
Bristol imitating the big club tonight. 5 errors.
Whoo!
-
The rest of the schedule:
Ely on the mound
Anthony Carter pitching for W-S.
Kanny was postponed.
Great Falls is off.

Yeah I know he's a little bit old for the league, but still impressive numbers nonetheless. Also, wasn't DLS 21 when he had his great season?
Edit: Nevermind, he was 20.

Wow. Lost in the Silverio hype, this guy has put up some nice numbers: 7-2, 1.81 ERA, 89 IP, 67 hits, 26 runs (19 ER), 19 BB, 80 K, 0 HR, 0.96 WHIP.
-
Peavy with 51 pitches thru 3 innings.
-
Not scared at all.
If they want to make the playoffs, aren't these the same type of teams they would have to face anyway? Besides, the Sox seem to play up to the level of their competition, so maybe they come in focused & ready. Though it would be nice to play that way vs. some of the also-rans as well.

16 of Phegley's 35 hits have been for extra bases (7 2B, 9 HR). His 3/5 performance moves him up from .224 to .236.

Boo. Nathan blows the save in the 9th, but Soria blows it in the 10th and the Twins win 5-4. However, seeing that Nathan needed almost 55 pitches to get through those last 2 innings, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he won't be available tomorrow.

..... Your fired. Game 2 was PPD. They finished Game 1.
What can I say? The Sox had enough losing teams tonight, I didn't want to put another one on there.

Fields went yard, Flowers with a double in the game. Also Peavy pushed back a day to Monday.
Viciedo in the lineup and currently 1/2.
Winston-Salem game was ppd.
Mitchell 2-4 with a double, KW Jr & Short with homers
Holmberg lit up.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 10:51 PM)Jamie Shields' change has to be up their too.
Ranked 2nd behind Buehrle's. Jered Weaver was 3rd.
-
Shoemaker 2/2 with a walk & double for Bristol. Average at .366.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 09:07 PM)This kind of surprises me. Arod? Josh Hamilton? Ichiro?
Ichiro was voted best bunter, and 2nd best hitter (Mauer). Arod was 2nd in overall power (Morneau).

Baseball America polled the managers of the American League, and they tabbed Buehrle's changeup the best. He was voted 2nd best control artist (behind Halladay), & 2nd best pickoff move (behind Pettitte). Jim Thome was voted 3rd best in strike-zone judgement (behind Abreu & Mauer).

YIKES! Dex's line tonight: 0.1P, 8 runs, 6 hits, 1 BB, 1 K.
Also looks like Poreda is scuffling a bit too since the trade. Yesterday's start vs. Iowa: 5 IP, 3 runs (2 ER), 6 hits, 3 BB, 4 K's, 87 pitches (53 strikes).
-
Shelby with a nice 3/4 game in the 2nd game of the DH for B-Ham.
Although is Viciedo banged up? He didn't play in either game.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 08:57 PM)There's that other guy in Charlotte's rotation who's a little more likely to take that SP opening.
Good point. Torres is due for another crack at the rotation.
-
Gilmore 1/3 with an RBI double. After the horrififc first half of the year, he's slowly getting that average up. Now at .261. Now he's gotta show the power that was mentioned when he came in the Javy deal.
-
Arrgh. Hudson done after 5 innings. He's gotta get that pitch count down! 92 pitches thru 5 innings is Contreras-like. Still, 1 run, 2 BB, 4 K's is a decent night's work. But that pitch count is gonna get him.

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 03:30 PM)Aren't we 3-0 vs. Greinke now? f***ing unreal.
I think 2-2. I know Greinke beat them on the 3rd game of the year, and the first time the Sox went to KC, but I'm not sure beyond that.
-
Whew! Needed that one.
Props to JC.
CQ, Alex, & The One with homers!
-
Well that was nice.

Not related to today's game, but Charlotte's starter tonight is listed as TBD. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't today Hudson's day to throw?
Or I could be looking too much into this.
