QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 04:01 PM) Highest risk, highest potential. I'd prefer to get a more sure thing with a slightly lower ceiling, especially if the floor is much higher with less difference in ceiling. I disagree, considering what we have in TA.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 05:09 PM) The f***? I second that notion.

I got to know Dan a little bit over the past several months, and I have to say, this is really unfortunate. White Sox baseball lost a bit of solid perspective today.

Boras always shoots for the stars, and despite what seem to be unreasonable expectations, he continually surprises me. I'll bet JD gets something in the realm of 6/$150

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 02:35 PM) Wouldn't call it big... what are the odds someone takes your phone and also 3D prints an anatomically correct mask of your face? I mean, if someone is doing that, you probably have more to fear than them accessing your phone.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) And a 3-D map of their face in detail. If someone imaged and 3-D printed your face and added some color it could work. Interestingly I haven't thought about this before, but this does solve the "Law enforcement can't unlock your phone without the passcode" issue if they can just hold it in front of the person's dead body. I think I read that you have to be awake...I am not certain though.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) 1 605 Professor This is awesome...I know I've said this before, but I will always think of you as the character Sheldon in Big Bang Theory

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 04:29 AM) Yeah I gotta say, I think AA taking this job means punishment isn’t that bad. Maybe loss of a pick. I don't think there is any reasonable punishment they can inflict that would make that an unattractive job.

s***ty choice of words, indeed.

You guys are some smart f***ers! I have no idea what my class rank was...probably around the top 40 percentile. I suspect there were about 250 dudes in my graduating class. Energy Market Policy Interestingly, Google has done some studies which show the university you attended only impacts your career for the first two years out of college.

Uncharacteristically, this one was on the defense as much as the offense.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 12, 2017 -> 06:43 PM) I don’t think civilians should have assault rifles but you’ve said this before and it’s not true. The revolution times were a time where there were a lot of weapons advancements and there where were inventors making guns that could Up to 30 rounds and have 3 magazines. http://firearmshistory.blogspot.com/2014/0...peater.html?m=1 Fair to say these were not as readily available or prolific as automatic weapons today?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 12, 2017 -> 05:00 PM) His late throw to Bellamy was pretty inaccurate, but I felt he looked pretty good the rest of the game. He certainly didn’t get any favors from Loggains putting him in 3rd and long for most of the game I agree with this. The difference between really struggling and succeeding in the NFL is a razor-thin margin. When you put yourself in 3rd and long consistently, you are telling the defense the only reasonable way you can get a first down is to pass the ball. This allows them to either 1) blitz the hell out of you; 2) drop all kinds of DBs into coverage; or 3) some combination of the two. There are probably 2-3 quarterbacks in the league who can have any kind of success in that situation, and even then, you are drastically increasing the chances that you will get more a) injuries; and/or b) turnovers. I get that we are undermanned, and that we think the best chance to win is to lean on our defense and running game, but we are defaulting so much to this scenario that we're really stunting the development of our offense. Wins and losses don't matter anymore this season. It's time to take the training wheels off and let Mitch start developing into a normal NFL quarterback.

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 12, 2017 -> 11:00 AM) John Fox is just awful That's not on Fox.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 06:23 PM) If you look at people who talk about "rape culture" I think you'll find that the majority agree that it harms men, too. Heck, just look at how many of these Hollywood cases involve men being abused but pressured into silence. It just seems like a weird point to bring up because it's not like police frequently take claims of sexual assault by women all that seriously, either. Sexual abuse for any gender is shamed and swept under the rug. We will agree to disagree.

Why is it that they call you Big Sqwert, anyways?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 05:33 PM) Where's anyone saying that it's good or okay that it's hard for a man to get an accusation of harassment or abuse taken seriously The same place where I am accusing anyone of saying that. Just pointing out that it likely doesn't happen often because society and cultural norms prohibit it.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 02:37 PM) You guys are talking in the abstract about something that is very fact specific. The inequity comes from far fewer males report being raped by women than vice versa. Its impossible to guess what would happen if drunk guys started reporting that they were raped by girls. It certainly is not. It might be impossible to predict what the likelihood of a successful prosecution might be, but I can guess right now that the police would give you the same look that Arnold used to give Mr. Drummond on Different Strokes when he said "Watchu talkin' bout, Mr. D"?

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 02:22 PM) Neither party can legally consent when they are intoxicated. It's just like entering into a contract. You can't enter into a contract if you are intoxicated. You can't enter into a contract if you a minor. You cannot legally consent to have sex when you are intoxicated. This blurs a lot of lines, because pass out drunk is different than over the legal limit. Right, but the absence of consent does not equate to immunity from charges of sexual assault or rape. I think the point is that men are the ones with the particular equipment that usually begins the act; it would seem that therein lies the inequity.

Quite the party-pooper, aren't you?

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 01:47 PM) I'm a sober alcoholic. One of the many reasons I quit drinking was that I recognized the shift among the younger generation regarding drunken hook ups. I was sleeping with a lot of girls in their early 20's and, while it was always consensual, I recognized that I'm putting myself in a dangerous position. It doesn't matter if I agree with the shift. The court of public opinion doesn't give a s*** about my opinion. I'd rather be safe than sorry and it helped me stop drinking. This is the point though. If you are drunk, then according to some schools of thought, it cannot be consensual by definition.
