  1. I agree with a lot of this, though I also subscribe to the "treat yo self" model. For example, if you are in your car for 1-2 hrs a day, why not splurge a little and be happy with what you're driving? Same with the occasional gadget purchase, lunch, etc. You don't have to go crazy and you shouldn't do that stuff routinely, but the worst case scenario is you live a pretty boring life because all you're doing is thinking about saving for the future and then you die at 55. What a waste. You gotta live a little. There's a happy medium between being frugal and saving and enjoying life as you go.
  2. We finished episode 3 last night. So far I don't get the hype. Very slow. But we'll keep going with it. Also, to each kid - turn a fucking light on! Who just sits in the dark when they get scared of seeing/hearing something????
  3. What a horrifically stupid move if you're a true one and done. 1) you're not worrying about attending much in terms of classes. 2) you're staying in private apartments with amazing amenities, 3) you're playing in packed arenas and on national tv, getting 10000 times more press/coverage than you would in the g-league, 4) you're banging your way through the school's top female options as a king of the campus and 5) you don't have to deal with any of the bullshit travel/hotel/per diem crap of playing in a semi-pro league that few people pay attention to. Oh, and you're probably still making $125k or more personally and your family is getting taken care of. Endorsements will be there when you make the jump.
  4. Oh it's a good time. Between daycare for 2 and student loan payments (law school + graduate school) ... My wife wants #3. I'm terrified of college expenses in 15-20 years.
  5. Anyone have a theory yet as to why they did this? Was he about to expose something massive?
  6. Would love to but: 1) Most of these people probably don't have kids or student loan debt they are still paying off in their 30's; 2) Living on 40k a year doesn't account for college expenses for their kids in the future; 3) when I retire I want to be traveling 6 months out of the year; I don't want to retire and just sit at my house; 4) healthcare costs; 5) most importantly, i'm a habitual consumer of all things so I need money!
  7. They have another one that came out this year called the Spark that has a lot of the same functionality and software in a smaller package (literally can fit in your pocket). You can get a refurbished one for $279 straight from DJI, but then you have to pony up for a controller too (about $100). But you can get the kit deals on Ebay for $350 or less. The main difference with the Spark and the Pro is a 2 gimbal set up vs 3, and it's 1080p, not 4k. Battery life is a little less than the Mavic Pro too, but the batteries are also a lot cheaper. My big hurdle is going to be finding the time (and skill) to edit the videos. I'm hooked on about 4-5 vloggers on youtube and their footage is amazing but they also take about 1000 times more video than I do and they are really good editing the footage, color grading the footage, etc. They also are young and have no kids and their job is vlogging so...they have nothing but time to travel/edit.
  8. Not to compare him to Mahomes, but they had VERY similar games yesterday in that their first 1.5-2 drives were pretty bad, e.g., missing wide open guys/easy throws, and then they settled down and excelled the rest of the game. He still makes some terrible decisions (the falling backwards across the field throws have to stop), but at least some of those downfield throws in the 3rd quarter were on target. His passing potential is slowly coming out each game. His running ability is obviously top notch. Just gotta hope those mental mistakes go away as he matures.
  9. I got the Mavic Pro with the Fly More Combo (mostly for the two extra batteries) but I got it used off Ebay. Got it for a great deal ($620). Tracked them for a few weeks and got lucky with an auction.
  10. So I bought a DJI drone a couple of weeks ago. Man is it fun to mess around with. The technology is incredible. I can put the thing in the air, mark a subject in the shot (me, my kid, my car, whatever) and it will continue to focus on it and track it in the middle of the shot. You can also tell it to move around the subject 360 degrees with a simple swipe. So cool. I got some great footage up in Door County with all the foliage. Can't wait to take it more places.
  11. So, Illinois football is just never going to be good. The program has had two decent runs since I was a kid - the late 80's and 2005. Otherwise, an absolute shit show.
  12. Apparently kept breaking team rules. I'm guessing it's drug/alcohol related, but haven't seen any details leak.
  13. Sure, but they also never got traded (against their wishes) and were generally always surrounded with talent to help them win.
  14. If MJ played in 2018 I guarantee you he would have used all of his power to get whatever he wanted. Players demanding trades didn't happen in the 90's because players had little control back then. IMO what happened here is that Butler has no issues with Minnesota or Thibs, but with players (KAT and Wiggins) and their priorities. And I think management sees KAT as their ticket selling young star. I don't see Jimmy going Hollywood and acting entitled so much as him being the Alpha dog competitor who sees a bunch of physically gifted guys giving 60% effort to cash checks. He's not going to waste his prime playing hard for a shit team, so he wants to go somewhere else.
  15. Also, LOL at anyone who thinks this is Jimmy going hollywood/Jimmy is a headache/thank god he's not here. This is Jordan/Kobe level stuff. Why do we revere them but not Jimmy?
  16. I'm confused how "trade me now, I don't want to be here" fits with him declaring "you fucking need me" to the GM/coach.
  17. Not by a factor of 40, but according to this website (trying to find a more legitimate source), in 1770 Virginia had 447k while Georgia had 23k (a factor of about 20). So the idea that they didn't know there were very large population centers/states versus smaller ones isn't true.
  18. Yeah but they didn't so... If Derrick Rose didn't have glass for knees the Bulls may have gotten to a Finals. We don't call for massive change just because in the short term things may seem unfair. Our democracy lasts precisely because we don't make whole sale changes every time one side is unhappy. We stick to the system and ride the waves, good and bad.
  19. Traditions weren't followed. Not sure there's a rule that was actually changed.
  20. All suddenly problems that need to be fixed because your "side" doesn't benefit.
  21. You guys make me laugh. "The Bulls suck....time to change the rules of basketball!"
